I've had at least 20 of these
[editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
The best part is, every time they resend the email, the case number changes
And they still haven't fixed the fact the law you're breaking doesn't exist
And the closest one to it is about importing conflict diamonds / things made with slave labour

Alright so I woke up and the G5 was done with the video file, but final cut doesn't time how long a render takes like vegas does. So I don't know the exact time, but it definitely took at least 6 hours. 6 hours for one minute. A fucking 10 minute video would take a little less than three days to render.
Anyone know what these are?

Got 4 of them.

Are you in the Steam for linux beta? If so, maybe invites for that?
[editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
if it turns out to be that, you should give me one for guessing
[editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
it's apparently just DOTA 2

So I now have 12 Dota2 invites.
Does anyone know the shipping weight and cost of a nexus 10 to America?
I'm getting tired of waiting and I think a forwarder would be cheaper than the AU prices
[QUOTE=Mind Infection;38797934]Which thinkpad do I buy?[/QUOTE]
Apparently an T61p is best...
Which models were you referring to? Depends on what you are going to use it for. I own an SL510 and an x131e. They're both good except the fact that some ThinkPad fanboys hate the curvyness of the x131. It still has the premium feel to it though!
HAH.
I basically just got an Alienware M17x with a GTX 680M and 750GB hybrid drive + 128GB SSD in it for fucking free.
<3 my dad's university.

getting something for free means someone else paid for it
elaborate
Dad can use university card to travel and go on conferences and buy things like laptops.
The amount on the card gets refreshed each year (it's a shitload), and this year he didn't go to too many conferences or buy any new laptops, so quite a bit of money was left on there (the $2800 alienware doesn't even break the budget)
technically, the laptop is my dad's, but he is basically giving it to me.
the only thing is that it has to go back to the university in 3-5 years, and then becomes the university's property after that, but by then it'll be outdated and I'll probably just get a tablet laptop for college
[editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
hell, some professors who don't travel to conferences much buy expensive as shit workstations with dual xeon cpus and ridiculous quadro graphics cards so this doesn't even come close
Seeing as it's alienware, it probably wouldn't even last 2 years.
[QUOTE='[EG] Pepper;38801150']Seeing as it's alienware, it probably wouldn't even last 2 years.[/QUOTE]
In Flubadoo's defense, custom-built computers don't either (without upgrades).
But still, eugh.
Honestly there isn't much you can complain about for Alienware other than its ridiculous price, overly glossy screen, and flashy aesthetics (if you dislike those).
Their build quality is quite good, better than most Sagers or MSI laptops, and the fan noise and temperatures are really quite good.
[editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
Or, if by "last" you mean in terms of up-to-date-ness of hardware and maxing things out, then nothing can really last these next two years, much less a notebook, other than probably SLI GTX 680Ms.
There's really not much to complain about Alienware [I][B]laptops[/B][/I] other than the fact that they're overpriced, most of the hate leaks out of the "grrr not building your own computer GRRRR" Alienware desktop bandwagon
Let him pay for branding and some spiffy looks (even though it looks awful IMO, it's like a car designer got the job and was really mad he wasn't a car designer anymore or something)

Alienware has horrible plastic they use in their machines. Even my MSI is just as sturdy as a Lenovo ThinkPad and it's been bumped and knocked and it still survives. I doubt the Dell would even survive a 15 centimeter fall.
"Last" as in performance with no compromise to the price and build quality.
I hope Dell would spice the quality up a bit and tone the price down then I'd buy one. But for now I only like Erazers and MSI GTs and GXs.
even though you can gay up the keyboard which is pretty awesome I guess

So I was going through my Facebook albums and came across the video where we put 1lb of tannerite in a laptop. Did I post that here?

Once I recieve it I'll make a quick review, although from the reviews I've seen, there aren't any complaints about the build quality or the plastic at all. You can haggle the price down of an alienware over a phone call if you're good enough by anywhere from $200-400, but even then, with the tax combined, it would still easily be more than $300-500 over a same specced MSI or Sager.
And of course, if this was my own money I would just get a sager with an HD7970M (so much less overpriced than GTX 680M holy shit)
And damn the M17xs take like a month to ship... (which i guess is good since i can study for finals)
a couple of my buddies have alienwares and they aren't bad, they just look real silly and are more of a mobile desktop than a laptop
