The manufacturer *should* be able to hold your hand most of the way - check if they have a ROM update utility.
Ahh neat, they have a BIOS update thingie that runs in Windows and does everything automagically. It's done.
I thought BIOS updates was something you had to do from the BIOS somehow, and that it was complicated and scary :v:

It used to be, but the manufacturers realized that since it was so scary to normal users, they would never do it. Thus the Windows utilities were born.

My man, we live in an age where mobos will fiddle with clock multipliers for you, without having to touch a single jumper.
lol some worker just ordered me to dry a PC wich got "wet" with an industrial drier.
[t]http://www.invento.ch/files/fohn.jpg[/t]
That thing was about 350c degrees hot.
Said to him, I'll deny any responsibility when shit breaks/melts.
I did it, and the PC got burned to a crisp.
I just burned 3000$ worth of hardware in a matter of seconds.
and I don't even care.
It's not the heatgun's fault, you're just a fucking idiot.
FYI components on the motherboard are often soldered with hot air of higher temperature. People use hot air of higher temperature to rework solder all the time, same with merely drying the board after cleaning. What would you have done differently? Spend hours trying to blow it dry with a hairdryer?

if a worker orders me to do something, I have to do it, regardless if its stupid or not. the worker ordered me to use the heatgun.
I even asked my boss if I should do it, and my boss said, I have to do what the idiot wants.
[editline]17th December 2012[/editline]
I even told the guy, that stuff will break. he just told me that everything is fine, and that the components are built to resist extreme heat.

No you still don't get it. Drying electronic with heatguns is not stupid. It's a very common practice among workers in the electronic fields to use it for drying boards all the time. You just don't know how to use it correctly and blamed it on the worker for giving you a "stupid" suggestion.

Yes I don't know how to use it correctly, because I don't work with such things. I am a regular tech suporter/server admin/programmer. I usually don't come in contact with such things.
[editline]17th December 2012[/editline]
Also it wasnt a suggestion, it was an order to do something I clearly wasn't instructed for.
Spend hours trying to blow it dry with a hairdryer?
It wouldn't take all that long; The airflow should be enough to do this in a relatively short time. A heat gun is only slightly overkill.
Someone give me unlimited money.
I want to do 8x Nvidia Surround and multibox 96 accounts in whatever MMO I want, at the same time.

Surface moisture might be fine but if there are lots of water sitting under BGA chips, then a hairdryer will not cut it at all.

So you didn't even ask or anything? Have you ever ironed a shirt? It's the same concept, keep the thing moving, never stop in one spot.
Also if it gets to 350c you should probably hold it a decent distance from the motherboard.
You've obviously never used a hairdryer to itch poison ivy.
Welp, I met Linus from NCIX on BF3 last night. He apparently thought a lot of videos slick wanted him to do were dumb until I told him they were actually pretty informative last night. Like his h100 Push vs pull and push/pull configuration. I was about to put my H100 in push and then I found out it would be a bit of a bitch to clean in push.
Did you tell him to get a decent cameraman?
Did you tell him to get a decent cameraman?
I'd be willing to make a BF3 soldier named "Stop frameblending your videos Linus" and stalk him.
I'd be willing to make a BF3 soldier named "Stop frameblending your videos Linus" and stalk him.
He actually does that? If I had to guess, he just puts 60fps video into vegas or something and forgets to tell it to not blend. A simple mistake, yes, but how you can just ignore it is pretty infuriating.
I did tell him slick needs to stop shaking so much but other than that I thought it was kinda cool to see Linus actually playing a game and not making a big deal out of him being somewhat famous on the interwebz. I also asked him about his Cat Facts, he said it was half serious and half "A few people wont stop flooding me with how I should make a channel about cats"

I'd betting he puts 29.97 video into his project which is 30fps.
Since 60 to 30 looks different. It's a direct compression of temporal resolution.
also you guys might find this interesting
Have you tried oiling your graphics card?

So I'm on hold on the Windows 8 support number, and the music was just interrupted by an ad for Windows 7.
Great work Microsoft.

"GPU Process Hung" is the only thing I can figure out from looking through logs in the TTY.
I bet its nouveau bugging out again..

Yeah, at least mine boots and X starts, but I just get a white screen and I assume chrome itself doesn't start.
