the joke is that I chose the most needlessly expensive consumer-grade card I could think of
I got that, but you're still doing it wrong.
i thought about suggesting "NIC Cage" but then i decided that wasn't all that funny
Dammit, now you guys have me looking for new monitors. I do not think I can afford this but I want it
Resist the urge, Monoprice start selling 27" 2560x1440 screens soon and they will be for under $400. I am rocking my Overlord Tempest with 0 deadpixels and running at 100Hz for $460+shipping. Though I ordered it back in September and it got here on December 10th due to issues with batches of the screens. Its an A- or A Samsung panel, so you have a 50% or 75% chance of getting a perfect one and they will have less then 6 stuck, dead, or bright pixels. Also I am content. Was playing Metro 2033, for some reason DX10 in fullscreen mode makes my second monitor stay black. I couldn't see my CPU temp and hadn't lowered my toasty 4.8Ghz back to cool 4.4Ghz. Right at the part where Bourbon is opening the door and I am trying to pull him through... My main monitor turns off and I think its a loading screen, till I realize my other screen just went into power saver mode and restart. CPU was sitting at 72C after restart. Yeah my 4.4Ghz max temp when stress testing is 69C. At 4.8Ghz my max temp when stress testing 79C. My stress test is CPU only, not GPU. I forgot that my GPUs both are non-reference coolers that vent into the case. I reached thermal shutdown point, its supposed to be 90C for 2500k and 2600k. I learned an important lesson, crank your case fans when playing Metro 2033 and also not to use a 4.8Ghz overclock on air. Metro 2033 dx10 on high at 2560x1440 is a stable 70fps with my crossfired HD6870s. Using AAA not MSAA, don't have the VRAM for it. Also running the benchmark my FPS for the different DX's are funny. DX9 gave me 61fps, DX10 gave me 70.33fps, DX11 gave me 61.33fps. I am also running it with FOV of 105 instead of the stock 70.
Any application will always much better with AA than without it, even at high pixel densities. Look at some supersampled Crysis screenshots. I can see jaggies in OpenGL apps on my Nexus 4 which is 320ppi.
I see no difference. Also 320ppi is like 2x SSAA, so it's not a complete fix. But if you're seeing jaggies, I'd imagine it's not running native res, but I don't own a Nexus 4. My point above is the density is the only thing related to "if something needs AA" Saying a huge resolution doesn't need it is stupid if it's on a large screen.

Here's a plain old 16xMSAA shot for comparison: http://imageshack.us/a/img524/4632/crysis64200806262359503gv7.jpg As for my N4, here's an OpenGL app, look at the column on the right, the edge of the world, etc: And here it is with forced 4x MSAA, notice the column looks much smoother even though that part of the screen is in sharper focus than it is in the non-AA shot:

So the SSAA is the only thing applying to textures. Also I guess you fixed the post, it used to be the same image as before so I wondered why it was the same. As for the PPI, of course MSAA will look better. But take the desktop PPI on a phone like that and the high PPI will look smoother obviously.
What exactly does the windows disk integrity verification thing do? It runs occasionally after windows is shut down improperly.
Guys, give me feedback on the design of this.
please put some effort in instead of using default bootstrap
please put some effort in instead of using default bootstrap
How about no
How about no
The default bootstrap look is overused and boring No-one is going to consider that to be a well designed website until you actually do something with it
The default bootstrap look is overused and boring No-one is going to consider that to be a well designed website until you actually do something with it
Why would it need to look like anything but what it looks like now if it's the help page for an API
Why would it need to look like anything but what it looks like now if it's the help page for an API
He asked for design feedback, what do you expect me to do?
I will take your feedback into consideration. [SUP][SUP](No I won't because nobody will ever see that project again after a few weeks because I'll kill it, but it's the thought that matters)[/SUP][/SUP]
I need a new fucking keyboard and a mouse. Fuck you Razer.
I need a new fucking keyboard and a mouse. Fuck you Razer.
what happened
what happened
He purchased Razer products. I think the rest is self explanatory.
what happened
My keyboard gets "stuck" My mouse likes to hang and one of the buttons broke. Tacky pieces of shit. That was worth £150 for both.
I don't wanna be the devil's avocado but Razer products are, although overpriced and ricey, of decent build quality you broke your peripherals and blame the company this is you right now
devil's avocado
Why does everyone have to turn this into a joke
Hmm it appears unlike i would have expected that farcry3 at 16:10 is the same horizontal fov as at 16:9. ie this is not true in farcry3:
Kommandozentrale.

How many games use this?
How many games use this?
All should, in my opinion. Otherwise it means that when you change to a wider aspect ratio, you're actually seeing less than with a less wide one.
How many games use this?
All of them for some reason. (except farcry3 so far)
Kommandozentrale.
They have to kommand their zhit from zomewhere, right?
Hmm it appears unlike i would have expected that farcry3 at 16:10 is the same horizontal fov as at 16:9. ie this is not true in farcry3:
man it kinda pisses me off that Dawn of War supports widescreen but doesn't if I set it to 1366*768 it makes a 1024*768 thing with the game in the middle and has black bars on the sides :l
