IIRC holding Y and right trigger while booting your xbox resets the graphical settings, you could try that.

Controller doesn't connect with HDMI.

Then do it while booting without HDMI :v:

Sounds to me the HDMI handshake isn't working properly, is the TV on the HDMI input while you're booting it, and does it show something along the lines of no signal, or just a black screen?
Then do it while booting without HDMI :v:
But that would do nothing since it's booting with Composite.

Doesn't matter, connect it with whatever cable works and then follow these steps:
1.Remove any discs from the disc tray.
2.Turn off the console.
3.Turn on the console.
Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left light illuminated.
4.As the console starts, on the controller, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.
can't you see it's greyed out???
No, not that one, click the one what says language error
I'd double check the fine print on lines 3&4 of that paragraph first.
I might purchase a Crucial mSATA SSD for my x131e just to speed up boot time...
Or would be just buying a 256GB SSD be better?

Looking outside, I'd say hell has frozen over.
