I have had far too many items ship from England to China to N.Ireland just within this year :d

Found me a sipwikket

So, I'm at my parents, because Christmas and stuff.
As soon as I moved out, my dad dropped their Internet connection to 2mbps down in order to cheap out on the bill.
Fuck.

That's weird, I love going to my grandparents because their internet is 3x faster than mine at home...
They barely even use it, why does it have to be cheaper here.
I hate using my family's eMachines desktop downstairs. As soon as I open up facepunch the fan starts spooling to like 80% and its one fan is louder than a server rack I swear

I mean come on it says "fancy front panel" on the specs screen at the end what else do you expect me to do
My Nokia E51 is going to be doing its last task now, it's going to be running as a WiFi hotspot for ~48 hours.
The battery is already 50% larger than what it's supposed to be because it's dying, this is basically working it to death.

Honorable death
So I'm at the Value Village looking at an old laptop, right
I've been looking for the DC 15volt cable for it for like 5 minutes already (it wasn't there) when this Russian family shows up and starts looking at it (I had set it down on the counter behind me). I tell them "Actually I was already planning on buying that". Immediately the boy (5th grade maybe, perfect English not even an accent) asks me "Hey what is this?". Now I think he's referring to the Trackpoint so I point to it and ask "You mean this thing?". His response: "Yeah, is this a laptop?"
hoo boy.
He at least admitted he didn't know much, and I was able to get it through to him that a Pentium 1 laptop we found later probably couldn't handle Facebook these days. I also taught him that if he sees a Thinkpad, older one, newer one, whatever, he can be confident that you could drop a bomb right on it and it would still work.
Could someone please recommend me some nice light win7 themes?
I haven't changed theme for ages, and I feel it's time
I also taught him that if he sees a Thinkpad, older one, newer one, whatever, he can be confident that you could drop a bomb right on it and it would still work.
did you teach him that edge models ones don't apply to that
this is important lavacano

shit didn't think about that
shit
oh well hopefully he won't have to deal with an edge model
Just ordered a Seagate 1tb drive for $60, finally more spaaaace. Gonna get a second 7770 soon as well so that I can record shit and be utobe famoz~~!
PS2 emulation is really crap on my PC, who would have thought
still a fun experiment

can't trust you with anything

You have failed us.
Throw him to the tiger pit!
Pepper;38939215']You have failed us.

I didn't fail shit.
Even if it turns out that he has to deal with an edge model he'll learn not to blindly take every word given to him by random people in Value Village as fact. And that is definitely a valuable lesson.

PS2 is a horrible architecture to try to implement. Way too many weird little co-processors to emulate.
Could be worse, though. Saturn emulation is enough to drive a man mad.

How do those work and what are they for?
How do those work and what are they for?
Its a PCI card that lets you get digital tv channels. They also have coax cable inputs to you can plug your computer into the dish or cable if you have it.
One 30ft cable later, and bam, I never have to leave my computer chair to watch tv.
Unfortunetely, the particular card I linked to is a pile of shite. The drivers and software have not been updated since it launched, in the late era of windows xp, so it crashes frequently on windows 7. Also, the IR sensor driver doesn't work, so I would have to climp upstairs to my DVR to change the channel, or try to patch together a virtual IR spoofer that hasn't worked since vista 32 bit. Also the quality sucks. Im currently RMA'ing it and buying a more expensive one with better reviews.
I'd kill for a proper 10' UI that did everything I wanted
("everything I wanted" is basically Steam Big Picture with a file browser and a video/music player that supported every format known to man)
(and a decent youtube player because fullscreen flash freezes gamepad controls for me)
DVB-S tuner cards in general are such a niche product, I don't think you will find good support on any of them.
Indeed.
Though the Hauppauge Nova-S2 and BlackGold DVB-S Cards I have in my HTPC both run in Linux and Windows great getting all the FTA HD channels. I also have a Pinnacle DVB-T card in there which despite crappy drivers actually works. The software they bundle with these cards is diabolical.
Interestingly, I still prefer windows media centre over the alternatives (Since windows 7, at least), the TV side just works better for me. it's not like WMC is actually missing any features once you hack it to pieces.
XBMC is great, my modded Xbox STILL runs it! but to get a decent TV front end into it takes too much messing around and the result isn't great, well that was the case a year back.
What's the optimal size for the pagefile if the computer has 1GB of RAM?

My friend in town has a ThinkPad Edge and I actually see no difference in ThinkPad quality. They're both good.
It's just that Edge is on the smaller business budget side.

The ThinkPad Edge is well, kinda like HP/Dell business quality, but nowhere near a real ThinkPad.
The thing that bothers me about big picture mode is the lack of consistency on the layout.
For example the "Store" "Library" and "Community" are at the top, while the "web", "search" and "friends" buttons are at the bottom, and change depending on context.
I'd love for all of those to be at the top on a combined navbar, if you could move between each "tab" with the shoulder buttons too, that would be great.
I think it's something to separate the three main functions of the UI so one screen/navbar doesn't look all cluttered.

I recommended it to her.
She wanted it for University and at the same time at home. She needed help getting it set up for games like Amnesia: Dark Descent. She said it was running very slow, apparently it was using the Intel HD graphics, not the AMD Radeon 6650m.
She was on a budget too so why not Lenovo for this
Hey guys, what's the general consensus for the best SSD at ~$200?

Unless it's a Crucial or OCZ, you'll be fine.
