What temps do you get at idle/load? I might just buy it if one fan can keep the CPU at 30/50-60 degrees in idle/load.
It's worth the goddamn lack of noise and I'm not interested in overclocking either.
Right now it's sitting on around 35c, which is fairly normal considering the case I have and the temp here (It's 10pm at night and nearly 30c anyway). Under load it's sitting around 60c.
I'm not entirely sure those numbers are fully accurate (I'm seeing some large variance between cores), so it's quite possible I've done the thermal paste wrong or my CPU just reports the wrong values. Even with that though it's still in-line with previous temps I've seen.

I'm still a bit on the fence since I don't know if it's just that this CPU gets warm as fuck etc.
But that sounds really good tho.

What CPU are you using?

I was looking through ebay for a cheap mouse and keyboard for a secondary computer when I came across this:

Seems to be impressingly cheap imo. I'd fetch it.
I have recently started catfacting people irl. Like, sitting in the kitchen or making a coffee or something, I take my cat and start talking about what is so special about cats :v:
thats all because of you guys. You see what you have done to me? Can you see it?

I like the price and size but honestly I think 31 db is what my current one sounds like and I dont want that at all.

This might sound like an odd question but... Would that work with the Raspberry Pi?

It seems like anywhere in my house the noise level is 30 dba, but when my CPU fan is working at 5000-6000 RPM it goes to 60 when close and 50 a bit away.
30db + 30db isn't 60db
I guess, but could you then tell me what it is? I only know that a sudden 10 db increase would sound (to us) "twice as loud" according to some site I read. If you could help me out on this matter I'd appreciate it greatly.

This, a 10db volume level increase is a 10fold increase in the amount of power that was used to produce that sound, so 60db actually takes 1000 times as much power to produce as does 30db. A doubling of the power of a sound is only about a 3db increase in volume, so 30db+30db=~33db. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel

So basically my current CPU fan is 1000 times more noisy than the background noise in my apartment? Goddamn.
Then again I'm still feeling weird about this, so even when the 212 fan would go at 100%, my room wouldn't make much more noise than when it's turned off?
I guess my fan produces 60 dB. Not too unreasonable.
Oh my fucking god, any of you remember that post the other day of the "Nerd Cubed"'s new gaming rig (the retardely expensive cyberpower one with 3 680s), well he just uploaded a new video and one of the cooling pipes came loose when it was on and exploded.

Oh god my ribs.
Oh fuck.
GPU fan stopped, left MC open in the menu, GPU probably started to melt down and my PC shut down.
Holy shit how scared I was when I got back to my PC. I thought that maybe my PSU blew up or smth, or mobo was faulty or CPU, but it was just my ye olden gpu.
Oh well, kickstarted it and now it should work.
Also, FUCKING STEAM SALES.
Haven't bought anything yet, but thought of GTA full package, even though I have GTA VC and SA, don't care about 3 and would like IV. IV mostly for the multiplayer but my friend doesn't have any money right now.
AOE 3: Complete Collection. Now fuck you AOE, I have obtained the game and expansions already. But to have it on Steam? For only 10 euros? I am so close to almost pressing the ADD TO CART button but oh my fuck you steam, I want to keep my wallet intact.

Correct, because the fan would match the current level of background noise, but not necessarily add to it as far as your ear is concerned. The ear has a huge range of volume sensation, so it takes a lot of variation in energy spent to make a sound to be at a noticeably different volume level to you.

I find that funny but also upsetting as that's a bloody expensive computer to have to replace.
Out of curiosity, how bad is it if I keep my GPU fan running above 50% at all times?
[editline]30th December 2012[/editline]
For the fan, I mean.

Well in the last video he made about it he was going on about why he got it from cyberpower because of warranty, so he should be fine.

Just got a G700.
It's a great mouse so far, but the mouse wheel is a bit too sensitive.

Nevermind, the mouse has a button that changes the scrolling.
Pretty neat.

THIS is why I like bends in cooling loops to be rigid using pre-bent pieces of aluminum or copper pipe. Sure you have to deal with a fuckton of small pieces of hose but as soon as you eliminate any kink points you can go ahead and use hoses that are not only less rigid but can be much more of a snug fit on the blocks and fittings.
This is also why I HATE how new cases put the power supply AT THE BOTTOM.
Speaking of power, You know you're dedicated to computers when: You have to add a 220v 40A circuit to your room. :v:

3 days and look at how dirty that tubing/water is, did they use their spit or something?
Well this might be fun.
I've gotten a laptop - a Toshiba Satellite. Old as fuck - 3.5" floppy next to the DVD drive, 4:3 screen. It gets into BIOS, but doesn't boot - I think the hard drive's dead. The BIOS doesn't tell me much, but the option to disable the Processor Serial Number leads me to conclude that it's a Pentium III in there.
The natural thing to do would be to fix it up and give it to one of my younger siblings.
So, also naturally, the answer is to install Linux.
Now, the question is, which one? I've actually not kept up with the various distros lately. Normally for a newb-friendly distro I'd use Ubuntu, but I doubt that will take well to such old hardware. For old hardware, my regular solution is "slap OpenBSD on it", but that's not user-friendly. My best option right now looks like Xubuntu, but I'm open to suggestions.
