i have to do a bunch of general art classes before I even think about applying for the digital design minor at my college. I don't see how drawing squares will improve my existing proficiency with photoshop
all the classes like "programming" and "IT" and shit here have "or instructor permission" tacked onto the prerequisites so basically if I felt like getting off my ass I could prove I know what I'm doing to some bored IT prof and skip the "how to plug in a computer" classes
Recieved my free Alienware M17x today! Specs: -i7-3740QM -GTX 680M -8GB RAM -128GB SSD + 750GB HDD Price as configured: $2549 (Easily goes down to $2359 if you're any good at haggling) For reference, this config is around $150-200 more than an MSI with same specs, or $250+ than a clevo Quick review: (might do more comprehensive one later in a thread) 3dMark11 Stock: P6156 3dMark11 tiny OC (75 mhz): P6505 (I think it might have come in factory underclocked) Temperatures: 40C idle, 70C max in Witcher 2 and FC3 Fan noise: almost nothing, audible when above 60c though Build quality: fucking good Keyboard: 0 flex if typing normally, pushing down very hard will create some though Screen: Some reflections, but extremely good contrast and black levels Speakers: On-par with MSI Dynaudio on the GT70 So if you move a lot and have a bunch of dosh to spend, it's actually fairly good, and doesn't suffer from some issues I've had with Clevo's disgusting onboard sound card and subpar keyboard, or MSI's super loud fans, and has the best cooling system by light years. Conclusion: Solid all-around, but is it worth the extra money compared to MSI or Clevo? [sp]I don't think so[/sp] [sp]yes i know gaming laptops are expensive as shit, but those that move around a lot can squeeze some use out of them[/sp]
How the hell did you get a free alienware?
I want to know too.
iirc his dad had money leftover out of his budget from wherever he worked and he used it for the alienware, but he has to give it back after a few years which doesn't matter because it'll be outdated by then. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.
Modified my 4670 by cutting off most of the pins so it fit in a PCI-E x1 slot
Why didn't you just cut open the ending on the PCI-E slot instead

As a kid, you're socially programmed to solve the problem in one, specific way - modify the object to fit the hole, instead of modifying the hole. The problem is, that doesn't work in even nearly all the cases, hell if you fuck up the threads on a screwhole, you need to drill a new hole, not make a fucked-up screw that can't exist without breaking the laws of physics.

decided to push my q6600 from the auto OC on my rampage to 3.2 manually. I acutally got past post with 3.4ghz just messing with the FSB and auto voltage of 375. But had to dump down to 365 cause i would blue screen at windows login. 3.2@1.34v isn't that bad, Could probably hit 3.4 if i did the voltage manually and tweaked some more.
let me just ask does this guy who wants a Windows Macbook already have the Macbook? [editline]30th December 2012[/editline] if so then just slap windows on it cost: free
it got stolen

Oh well, his loss.
it got stolen
ouch sorry man
that sucks. really, other than an actual macbook, either a Zenbook UX32VD (13.3") or UX21E (11.6") is it.
At least his friend probably didn't go all Stallman over the theft. I heard he cried for hours when his shit got stolen.
Creativity and stuff maybe still a silly requirement [editline]31st December 2012[/editline] Everyone should play Hotline Miami. It could be that there's components in the way though, like a heatsink directly behind the PCI-E x1 slot, which would interfere with the video card if the pins weren't cut off. I have an old 8400GS alongside my 560Ti for Quad monitor, the heatsink on it is so small on the 8400 I don't think if even has any effect on the cooling at all...
I'd be jumping for joy if somebody relieved me of that loongson POS.
Must have sucked though, because now he couldn't call anyone he knew for help because ~cellphones are used to track you so he doesn't own one~ [editline]31st December 2012[/editline] Anyone here know if Hamachi is still retarded enough that it's using the 5.0.0.0/8? Shit must be fun for server admins that have been getting IPs from that block, after it got assigned to RIPE. Some ISPs are still having problems with routing that AFAIK, and if Hamachi still uses 5.0.0.0/8, it routes the entire thing to Hamachi so anything in that block can't be connected to. Oh and my ISPs DNS fails on at least a couple of domains in that block for some reason, good thing I use Google DNS, since I use a website that falls into that block.
A few phone providers here have started using the 10/8 range, so if you've got a phone connected to a LAN with that range you get some fun routing. IPv6? Pfft, lets just NAT everything!
I know for a fact Three and o2 do. Irritating but I guess there's not much they can do, so many devices so few addresses and slow IPv6 uptake.
Holy fuck you guys. I told you to have a new thread ready by the time I wake up, but here we are with the old thread. I slept for like 12 hours too. Also, new year soon. should we mention something about it in the new title?
Last night I joined a room, and just left it up as I worked on other things and she ended up making about 700 dollars. About 600 from some guy who kept tipping her like 100 dollars at a time. By the end of the night she said she made more that night than her best week combined. I threw the rest of my tokens in due to it being entertaining, She ended up sending me a pic gallary. And I immediately started captioning them and sending them to wingless.
holy shit. i want to camwhore sometimes.

Finding a particular HP laptop on ebay is hard. I'd like one with the trackpoint on it.

Why do you want a cheap clitmouse on your laptop? Even the ThinkPad's good quality one doesn't compare to an actual mouse, a shit quality one is just a waste of space.
Why do you want a cheap clitmouse on your laptop? Even the ThinkPad's good quality one doesn't compare to an actual mouse, a shit quality one is just a waste of space.
I use it because I hate touchpads. And I don't want to lug a mouse around
Holy fucking Christ I took like a 5-hour nap, and I was in pretty light sleep near the end and then shit starts fucking exploding constantly and my heart almost exploded. I think this is what it feels like to have PTSD. Fucking New Years...
