They're pretty tough little laptops, the screens suffer everything and still work perfectly. [editline]21st October 2012[/editline] Fuck yeah, my t61p is used in space  Can't wait for it to get here :s
You bastard!
Oh, and the Trackpoint type thing on the Latitudes we have are really pale in comparison to the actual TrackPoints sadly :v: Overly sensitive and wear extremely easy
If anyone is interested in my lenovo t400 thinkpad let me know :O
I'm trying really hard to actually like the trackpoint, but It feels so odd.
I got used to it in a few days, same thing happened with my Graphics tablet :v:
wait what? they sent T61s to space?

The ISS is equipped with approximately 100 IBM and Lenovo ThinkPad model A31 and T61P laptop computers. Each computer is a commercial off-the-shelf purchase which is then modified for safety and operation including updates to connectors, cooling and power to accommodate the station's 28V DC power system and weightless environment. Heat generated by the laptops doesn't rise, but stagnates surrounding the laptop, so additional forced ventilation is required. Laptops aboard the ISS are connected to the station's wireless LAN via Wi-Fi and are connected to the ground at 3 Mbit/s up and 10 Mbit/s down, comparable to home DSL connection speeds.
So basically they took thinkpads and made them ~Space Compatible~
imagine that latency
Okay, I have a faster download. But their upload is like 6 times faster :(
The ISS has a faster internet connection than me, well that sucks...
yeah but I'm sure actually doing anything is a pain...
imagine that latency
Actually Satellite latency is getting better. It's surprisingly not that bad. It's becoming more and more reasonable all the time.
350-500ms latency on the ISS, that isn't bad at all.
You're not gonna be playing any games on that (But I don't think that would work too well in Zero-G anyway) but that's completely usable for web shit.
Every time latency comes up I think of this video.
You're not gonna be playing any games on that (But I don't think that would work too well in Zero-G anyway)
What makes you say that? Try playing on 300 ping, sometimes it even works!
How the fuck am I able to get along with my parents? Someone has a T400 for sale, which I'm finding out about but they live in the US. Why exclude the US? MY BROTHER GOT SOME OF HIS SHIT FROM AMERICA. WHY CAN'T I?!
So basically they took thinkpads and made them ~Space Compatible~
I wonder what would happen if they used them in space. Like, in actual space, with no air to cool it. Would it need a watercooling loop, or something like that?
I wonder what would happen if they used them in space. Like, in actual space, with no air to cool it. Would it need a watercooling loop, or something like that?
What would cool the liquid?
What would cool the liquid?
I'd imagine you could have an external radiator on like the back of the monitor or something. There is also the problem of your screen/other components freezing, but lets not get into that. [editline]21st October 2012[/editline] Also, I'd wager that the jitter on the ISS connection is relatively large. [editline]21st October 2012[/editline]
I can shit it out of america i believe. PM me where you live?
Don't think I needed to know that :v:

Pfff. Make a new account, change IP, and misspell your address slightly. [editline]21st October 2012[/editline] I'm gonna get another two mousepads out of this one, definitely going to use this
My phone is refusing to tether with my computer for some reason... EDIT: And my VPN refuses to fully load the page.
http://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/11t79k/almost_free_mousepad_for_everyone_xpost_rgamingpc/ Artscow is doing that mousepad promo again.
but it's a dollar ;_;
I've still got my mousepad from the promotion a couple of years ago.
Okay, I managed to get another $1 mousepad after alternating between VPN and no VPN. First: Second:
I'd like one but I don't have a way to pay that one dollar.
Sending this to a friend of mine.
I got this mousepad, when they were doing that promo last time. [t]http://puu.sh/1hbJ1[/t]
