Windows 8 works awesomely well on my laptop, with the gestures and all.

But it sucks that the modern Skype can't even send or receive files :c

That's why we have puush, dropbox, and FTP servers.
Skype is easier, and It's faster because you send directly to your friend. Not to a server, where your friend has to go download it from.

when it works right
I tend to get 5 kb/s transfer speeds with Skype most of the time
It depends on your speed and the uploaders speed.
I'm late to the bandwagon, but I prefer the Finnish pronunciation of ASUS.

Ar-soos?
Ay-suss sounds universal to me.

How is that a finnish pronounciation?
How is that a finnish pronounciation?
Because my spell check didn't catch it and I don't use that word often enough.
Also, if you talk to a Finn who does that awkward "I'm not sure how to pronounce this like it's meant to, so I'll just say it with the Finnish pronunciation of the letters", that's what you get.

You're luckier than a kangaroo fucking a fire hydrant.

I'm not going to start off another deadly round of posting speedtests, but pff, get on my 80mb / 15mb level 2 miles away from the exchange (although it's actually more like 70mb thanks to throttling fff)
I'm still in the dialup age in this fucking town.
Oh, and because BT is oversubscribed to fuck, they kick my router off on sundays and it retrains at 2mb down 0.25mb up...
Its magical!
Faster than mine.
I was told that Bell FibreOP should be on my street by the fall, though that didn't happen.
I'll probably order the 100/10 fiber connection next month. Just thinking about it makes me happy.
when it works right

I get around 105KB/s and my upload is 128KB/s so it's pretty good.
Oh god Amazon have RT-N66U's in stock at £109 for prime delivery if I order in 30 minutes but I need to save more for the wiiu next month [del]I'M SO FUCKING TORN[/del]
thank fuck for that the deadline expired, my wallet breathes a sigh of relief
FUCKING Microsoft/AMD!
My dads media PC just recieved a windows 8 RP update, it completely fucked his windows installation, it was bootlooping afterward. Oh well, I guess I had might as well install RTM for him.
Wrong, ATI as usual have fucking awful drivers, the Catalyst drivers do not even install properly, the Catalyst control panel sidebar is fucking empty, and the beta drivers setup crashes.
Thank fuck I never got onto installing drivers for his Creative EMU sound card (Because the drivers for Windows 7 are still in fucking beta! and the sound card doesn't power on without some wierd patchmix software)
TL;DR Should have bought a Mac.
I'd love one. I'd be a PC and Mac user then I wouldn't give a damn if someone said PCs/Macs are better than one another.
Well shit my shopping list is a bit big...
I'd like to thank VMware for being amazing and allowing me to make sure this obscure XP MCE 2005 .iso actually works and will support SATA before I go and waste countless hours and DVDs on custom nlite builds.
Have a medal, VMware.

I can dig out my 2003 Nvidia Quadro and I bet it works fucking flawlessly on RTM!
And its not a GPU that is like from the early 2000s?
Because then its your fault that you haven't bought a newer gpu. You can't support old hardware for ever you know?
Its like 3 series behind also they stated that drivers from 4-5 HD series will no longer be supported.
How are the 4-5 series GPU's old?
Not everyone needs to update their GPU's every generation.
On friday I helped a friend find parts for a computer, which we then ordered. Should be here on thursday.
If I can play Crysis on high with it, it ain't old.
crysis is going on 5 years old and my card then could run it on high

Shitty cabling on my road means that between the fibre box and my house, about 800m down the road, the speed drops from 40Mbps to 14.
Consider yourself lucky.
crysis is going on 5 years old and my card then could run it on high
And?
Still means basic desktop acceleration should be an easy task, which is what most people really need.
If I can play Crysis on high with it, it ain't old.
Crysis is from 2007 and seven, though. That's like saying two GTX 7800 aren't old because they may pull it off somewhat respectable. Still, it would be nice to see prolonged support.
HD4890, that thing is NOT outdated, I don't care what AMD says.
Is it because their processor division is doing awfully they want to gouge their GPU customers for a new card?
4890 is nearly 4 years old. Is is outdated. We're not saying it's useless.
If I can play Crysis on high with it, it ain't old.
You sound like you're trying to defend something we're not attacking. It's an old product. Hell, my 580's are indeed moving towards aging. Does that mean they are suddenly going to suck and not work well, of course not.
3 years is not grounds to drop support for a more than powerful enough graphics card.
Its not like I'm bitching because I have an unsupported Hercules screen card or a Matrox millenium.
I honestly have to agree. Nvidia's latest drivers support all the way back to the 8xxx GT series. Even if they don't really improve them at all, they're still supported. AMD isn't helping their reputation regarding drivers when they're dropping their HD 5000 cards. How long is it going to take before my HD 6970 gets dropped too? My old GTX 260 will probably still get driver updates after my 6xxx AMD card is dropped.
Reminds me of when i couldn't find windows 7 drivers for a HD2600XT, yet i plugged in a geforce 6200 and it worked fine.
