So my school got these new laptops and what's funny is that these HP laptops have... ...beats audio... mother of god, what were the people making this happen thinking slapping on beats audio on it?
Who cares, it's just a gimmicky logo on the corner of your monitor that does absolutely nothing

So, Here i was enjoying my 5 min study break to generally surf around a bit when this jumped out of me

I first thought Brt was stalking me

A friend of mine once had to help his aunt to turn a picture by 180 degrees because it was upside-down. When he got at her home she said she already fixed it. Nope, she didn't turn her monitor upside down. Instead, she printed out the image, turned it around and scanned it in again. wat.
because you can compare an ARM processor to x86 just by clock speed right guys
ARM probably packs more power per hertz in general
I was being sarcastic.
um defensive much? [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] guys i was being sarcastic when i posted some non-trivial stupidity i am really not dumb guys really!!
ARM requires a few more processor cycles to do the same thing as x86. ARM has a reduced instruction set, x86 however has a plethora of different instructions built in that allow it to perform actions in one or two cycles. ARM on the other hand will have to perform quite a few of its inbuilt instructions to get the same thing done.
Well yeah, depends on the operation I suppose. x86 has a boatload of SIMD stuff in it already

The second... that makes no difference, again, boils down to core design. [editline]6th November 2012[/editline]
Each or for all three? Considering I got them for free and I don't really have a need for them, $80 or $240, either is great.
Per unit. That's the best price you'd be able to get out of them. Probably get $50-60 for each one, realistically.
So, Here i was enjoying my 5 min study break to generally surf around a bit when this jumped out of me I first thought Brt was stalking me
vsauce is pretty coo
vsauce is pretty coo
He's the equivilent of scientific tabloids. AKA a headliner cunt [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] So my new replacement SG 3TB drive came. New CC4G firmware which fixes the ticking, but I wonder if I'm going to have an issue with it playing with my RAID10. My worry now is that my system was crashing due to mobo and not the RAID or drives. I'm doing SMART checks in CrystalDiskInfo thanks to UnifiedLinus on my livestream and all my drives look A-OK.
Posted in the PS4 dev kit rumor thread, is this nonsense?
Ugh, this thread. x86 doesn't mean shit in terms of portability. x86 does not make it more like a PC.
If not, could I have an elaboration on why? (By "portability", he means porting a game from the PS4 to the PC or vice versa)
Well, uh. An x86-based console kind of feels dumb somehow. It wouldn't be more like a PC because a processor architecture only determines the native code that runs on it from an user's perspective. It wouldn't be more like a PC because PCs are structured for general usage, consoles for gaming. It wouldn't change anything related to porting since console games are rarely written in assembly, most languages can be compiled for nearly any architecture and OS and the console would have its own specialised APIs regardless.
If it were structured like a PC for compatibility it wouldn't be a console at all, it'd be a PC. Consoles only exist because they are specialised. That's why you'll happily pay $400 for hardware that could be considered outdated for a PC. [editline]6th November 2012[/editline]
I know Valve had issues with it when porting the orange box.
I think they outright stated in some interview that they had massive problems
what's a good non-mechanical keyboard with good keyspacing but low keys?
http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/05/apple-considering-ditching-intel-in-macs-says-bloomberg/ Pfft, complete and utter bullshit.
That rumor comes up every year. It's stupid.
Oh so they're claiming its ARM now? I don't bother reading articles about the "Apple moving away from Intel" rumor anymore after seeing them pop up multiple times a year. I remember when people were claiming they were moving to AMD.
ARM laptops really feel like the future, though. I'd like one. [editline]6th November 2012[/editline] On the other hand, wasn't PowerPC the future too

christ i forgot how annoying it is to make a new install of windows
christ i forgot how annoying it is to make a new install of windows
I don't understand
:v:
Hey, at least they're looking after us instead of us looking after ourselves.
christ i forgot how annoying it is to make a new install of windows
This is why you should be making image backups so you can easily restore from them if need be.
christ i forgot how annoying it is to make a new install of windows
I find just reinstalling my stuff the annoying part, The OS install itself is simple enough Actually reinstalled Win7 today, IT Essentials practical test

If they switch X86 chips with ARM chips, then they're simply trying to revisit their decline in the late 1990s again.
At roughly 1:50PM eastern standard time, I stepped off the bus and inhaled a lungful of brisk Canadian air. I walked along the sidewalk as a young couple chatted a few paces ahead of me, as I was on a mission, I quickly crossed the street as a man in a rusty Pontiac Sunfire waited impatiently to exit the parking lot. As I passed the Tim Hortons on my way into the mall, the aroma of coffee and baked goods filled my nostrils, reminding me that I had skipped lunch. A short walk later, I partially unzipped my coat and as I looked up, I saw the glowing red sign of my intended destination: EB Games. I had not visited this location in years due to my broadband internet connection and a particular Bellevue, Washington technology company making the task of physically purchasing software obsolete. Though I didn't make the journey to simply buy a video game, not today. Not having a credit card, I was required to buy an archaic piece of glossy cardboard with a winkled twenty dollar bill, Queen Elizabeth II smiled at me as I handed the legal tender to the young clerk. As he handed me my receipt and informed me of their trade-in program, his words faded to a low hum as I felt a warm sensation in my chest. Was it the medium Ice Cap I had purchased that morning that looked a little odd? No, it was the realization that I was finally able to purchase the Playstation Network Exclusive "Journey". What a shitty survey question.
