So after accidentally ordering a netbook harddrive, having the manual for my motherboard show the wrong ram configuration, and losing my original windows 7 disk, it turns out that the 250GB hard drive I found in my house is about to fail. Computers sure are fun
Yeah, I took it a few months ago and my best match was Gary Johnson at about 80%. He seems to be one of the more brilliant and successful candidates, and explained his plans to fix a lot of the things that a lot of people seem to have put in the back seat (like balancing the fucking budget.)
I have a hard time believing anyone can honestly get upwards of 90% compatibility with any one candidate without consciously or subconsciously letting their party determine their opinions, instead of the other way around. Partisanship for the sake of it is honestly disgusting.
I've always thought small government and Laissez faire economics was the way to go. It doesn't really have anything to do with partisanship.
There area few things I don't quite line up with Johnson on either but it gave me anyway because it was close enough.
84% with Jill Stein
i have to admit I did not see that one coming, of course then again she pretty much doesn't have any sort of coverage on her policies whatsoever because two party system bullshit
now if third parties had a fucking chance in the US system I would vote for her, but well...
jill stein is an idiot no getting around that
i also got 80% Johnson, 79% Obama and 15% Romney
I heard of Johnson before but still no real idea what he supports, and then of course Obama v Romney duh

Re-took the quiz (answering all of the additional questions too) to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass.
Are you depressed?
what?
what?
Just making sure.
I side with Jill Stein apparently. Voted for Obama because, well smaller parties can really only push topics and ideas in the American system.
Here's the important thing:
If a candidate gets >5% of the popular vote, their party is eligible for federal funding for their next presidential campaign.
That's why I would have voted Libertarian. I'm far from a pure libertarian, but I agree with a lot of what Gary Johnson was saying, more than I can say for any other candidate. More importantly, though, I cannot stand either of the two main parties. We need to replace them, and any effort to do that is worth it.
I heard of Johnson before but still no real idea what he supports, and then of course Obama v Romney duh
He's basically a slightly-more-sane Ron Paul. He wants (in this order): a balanced budget, a withdrawal from foreign wars, an end to the war on drugs, ending the TSA, and switching back to the gold standard (his position is officially "I want to do this, but I know it's not going to happen so I'll focus on the more important stuff first").
my account is on the line here obummer, you better win
maybe someone should start a 4chan party, that's a lot of internet that will definitely vote

There's always the American branch of the Pirate Party, but they fucking suck. One year they ran a candidate that legally could not win (too young).

what the hell AP
i thought you were better than this

voting is open until--
oh I see
60% Obama, 88% Gary Johnson. Sure why not.
Whatcha gonna do if you get banned?? That would be terrible!
naw, just focus more on SA I guess. Obonmu is gonna win though, so.
That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. If people actually considered the 4 other candidates out there and checked to see if they have a better match, we might actually elect someone who can fix things eventually. Taking the situation at face value, if the sweeping majority of voters only consider R or D, they're limiting their choices to only 2/6 of the candidates out there, which means there's a very large possibility (even likelihood) that there's someone else out there who has a better overall set of ideas. I'm not a fan of either Obama or Romney, but Johnson says a LOT of things I can really get behind.
I get your point, but I'm in Florida.
I don't think the race is actually close, but just to be safe I want my vote to make sure the president I want out of the two gets his spot back.
I think we should have all the candidates answer an even longer, more detailed version of the "isidewith.com" quiz. Then on the ballot, instead of voting for people, you answer the exact same questions. Your vote is then automatically cast for whoever you agreed with the most, based on your preferred policies and their importance to you. That way, the candidate who truly agrees with the most people on the most important issues will become president.

I hear cheering from the TV downstairs, I wonder who's in the lead. Time to load up cnn.com

Yeah, pretty much everyone's saying Obama won. CNN, ABC, CBS, BBC (I actually prefer watching British coverage of American politics - less partisan), even Fox. When Fox admits Obama won, you know he's won.
(redid the test)

So as a neutral non American I am best matched for:
Jil Stein AND Gary Johnson. They both scored 76%
68%
Democrat
63%
Green
62%
Libertarian
36%
Republican
Of course, it's pretty inaccurate.
Apparently I'm all with Mitt Romney on economy but the questions in detail view don't match at all.
