Well I decided to make a Freetrack 3 point clip and I decided on using a perfboard attached to a 2 x AA battery holder which is Velcro strapped onto the headphones. I already know how to solder but I want to know where I can buy some isolated wire just for connecting?
Like the yellow wire right here:

Depends where you live, in the UK the stores I use are:
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/home.html RS (my favorite)
http://www.rshelectronics.co.uk/index.htm RSH (good prices)
http://www.maplin.com Maplin Electronics (a bit expensive)
If you want single core wire just search around for 1/0.6mm or about 24 awg.
Jameco
Or if you want brick n' mortar, head to your nearest Fry's.
Another one for the UK: Rapid Electronics: http://www.rapidonline.com/

Thanks birkett, you would not happen to know any more decent ones would you ?
Do I have to get the specifications for the wire or should any wire most likely work with the LEDs if soldered on? Do specifics matter like speaker wire?
Any wire will do as long as it is a 0.6mm~ conductor.
23 AWG or 24 SWG.
I assume you want to use the wire with the perfboard rather than directly solder wire to the component, if so get the wire size I specified above.

Have any stores for the US :(?
Electricity crap, broken TVs, microwaves, and other items have a lot of wires. (Just don't touch the caps :downs:)

damn AWG confuses me, you want to get 22 AWG wire, stranded or solid.
such as this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049738&y=8&x=13&filterName=Cable+type&retainProdsInSession=1&filterValue=22+gauge

What if I want to solder directly to the component? Can I just use any wire such as USB wire, cable wire, or that weird wire that a keyboard uses?

Yes.
Yes.
So why would it work, shouldn't a USB wire be different from something such as a ethernet wire? Could I just use a wire cutter on the USB wire or cable wire and directly solder it to any of my components?
building a headtracking device, eh?

Any wire will do.

Yep, already have my 3 infrared LEDs, battery holder, and 30Ohm resistors ordered!

It's bloody copper wire, why would USB wire be made as a shit wire that won't work whereas ethernet would be made out of solid gold.
If you're in the states I assume you have a local Radioshack SOMEWHERE. You can buy a long roll of 24GA single-strand wire for <$5 if memory serves.
Radioshack's selection has gotten in a bad way lately, but at least they still sell fuckin' wire. >:C
Telephone wire is good for mild guage work that needs an insulated conductor.
The fine wiring in a VCR is good for some of the easier fine soldering.
Wire wrap is awesome for really fine soldering work.
