I have a Packard Bell mechanical keyboard that came with my windows 3.1 PC
Does anyone of you have a TOPRE Relaforce keyboard? Are they worth the money? Specifically this one? http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=791
anyone know of (kinda) cheap mechanical keyboards, preferably browns, that have nordic layout? it's kinda annoying me how most don't
anyone know of (kinda) cheap mechanical keyboards, preferably browns, that have nordic layout? it's kinda annoying me how most don't
You can just get an Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate EU or alternatively: http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=753 http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=793 http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=807
We need to make a keyboard megathread. Make sure you use THIS as the guide and not the Overclock.net one. Its far more indepth and they have a big wiki on the various aspects of mechanical keyboards, switches, keycaps, etc.
Pricing As a general guide these appear to be the natural pricepoints in the Mechanical Keyboard Market. 1. Good deals under $50 - used, free from dumpster, Ebay finds, product blowouts/End of life (EOL) like the ABS M1 2. Mainstream Mechanicals - $50-$100 - Adesso, Scorpius, Steelseries 6GV2, Rosewill, Razer, Unicomp, IBM Model M 3. High quality and/or Feature Laden Gaming Keyboards - $100 - $200- Das, Filco, and LED keyboards like the Deck/Razer/Xarmor. 4. Boutique - $200 Plus - RealForce, HHKB, Ergonomic layout, NIB IBM Minis, Custom keyboards, Collectibles.
Have you posted your Deck review yet?
Have you posted your Deck review yet?
Finishing the formating of the pictures. I also got a decent night one finally, still not crystal clear but as good as I can get on my ganky camera.
Better than my pictures... Post a link when you're finished.

Seems pretty cool, but I'm not sure about the Cherry clears. I really love "tactility" (?) and I'm afraid the clears might be too linear for me...
Seems pretty cool, but I'm not sure about the Cherry clears. The pressure point is more rounded, but where the pressure drops then increases is much more noticeable. I would describe it as smoother brown. Clears are really hard to bottom out which is something I really like about them. Its a personal taste thing. i find the browns to subtle and have a hard time not bottoming out on something that light. Damn, I just noticed that they're only available in Us (ANSI) layout :sigh:
God, Deck keyboards are so fucking gaudy.
God, Deck keyboards are so fucking gaudy.
Thank you for teaching me a new English word ;)
God, Deck keyboards are so fucking gaudy.
Which part? The Lord of the Rings font? If so yes I agree, but it grows on you after a while. I want to get there regular font keycaps used on regular TG3 backlit boards. When I bought my Deck it was the only backlit mechanical keyboard available, i still don't regret buying it though. Build quality is great. Here is the police cruiser keyboard that TG3 has. Takes 147 grams of force to depress fully with splash guard. Top picture leads top the review. 147g what the fuck. [editline]31st December 2010[/editline] That looks very nice, and yes the font, those two LEDs in the spacebar, and the way the light leaks bothers me.
147g what the fuck. [editline]31st December 2010[/editline] That looks very nice, and yes the font, those two LEDs in the spacebar, and the way the light leaks bothers me.
Thats 147g to bottom out, actuation is still around 100g though. The leaks is far less then the camera shows off, long exposure times in the dark does that. The majority of the light leakage is because the back plate is a semigloss black and the keycaps are white on the bottom so it gets quite a bit of the light back on them. The light leak is barely noticeable when there is any ambient light. How would you do a backlight that depends on individual LEDs on a space bar besides the two dots? You can't do the wide dash style unless you do a diffusion grid, which is kind of counter to the point of individually backlit keys. The other backlit mechanical keyboards just skip the space bar all together, and by the rest I mean all 2 others. The Black Widow Ultimate has no backlighting on the space key and the XArmor U9BL has a single led in the middle where the keyswitch is mounted. I think the dot on the ends look best of the options they have. I am tempted to get one of the compact mechanicals from TG3, probably will need to get it off Ebay though. After your first mechanical you get hooked. I know I can't fit cherry ML into my laptop. A compact could make up for that.

I've just decided, that I will purchase a Majestouch and a Tenkeyless with Brown Cherries in February, until then my DAS and the soon-to-arrive Customizer should suffice. [editline]1st January 2011[/editline] Also we need a keyboard megathread.

[editline]1st January 2011[/editline] Also we need a keyboard megathread.
I would recommend getting the Leopold instead of a Filco. Filco is no longer being stocked by elite keyboards. They are replacing them with Leopolds. The Leopolds will sell for less then the Filcos and have even better quality and a few more features. The keycaps are laser backfilled instead of pad printed on the Filcos. The review and comparison of Filco and Leopold Tenkeyless on Geekhack below. Yeah, but elitekeyboards doesn't offer QWERTZ keyboards and charge way too much for shipping. I've also seen quite a few people who were critical of Leopolds on geekhack btw.
From what I read on geekhack they were pretty much the same, and since when are Filco keycaps pad printed?
Always? That was the only complaint most people have against it, along with the coating on the keys that wears away over time. Filco still probably does the best pad printing of any keyboards that have it, but no matter how good the pad printing is it will wear faster then dye-sub and poorly done laser. All about keys, they talk about the Filco's printing and coating

got a model M2 for $2 at a ham fest a while ago. it's nice, but the f12 key is stuck down. not physically stuck down, it just registers as pressed down. all the time.
Also interesting http://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/KeyboardGhostingDemo.mspx
Any of you looked at the Noppoo Mini Choc? Full NKRO on usb. With cherry brown switches.
I really want a new keyboard, one that is mechanical with a nice touch, but god damn they are expensive.
