I'm also considering getting a Realforce 105, more specifically this one: http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=791 Only problem is the different switch weights, especially in the WASD cluster. As I don't touchtype and I'm a gamer, should I even consider this board? Man, this new hobby of mine is going to make me poor.
the variable weighting is pretty subtle on the topre bro most people prefer it over the 55g uniform weighting
If it's made by Unicomp, the company that bought the Lexmark factory's equipment after 1996, it'll have a birth date, a serial number, and "Model M" like all the previous Model Ms before 1996, but it will say "UNICOMP" instead of "IBM" IBM, IBM UK, Lexmark, and Unicomp are the four official manufacturers of the Model M. The copyright can be by any of these four. About the connectors older than PS/2: You can get adapters to PS/2 pretty easily. I don't think Dell made any Model Ms. They did make a good ALPS-knockoff keyboard of their own, but it's not a Model M.
IBM, IBM UK, Lexmark, and Unicomp - look for those only for model M's I Put it on a sticky pad on my list of stuff to look for I cant view the next page page just reverts to 5 Once more any other gems i should be looking for ( Old sticks of ram / old mice? IDK )
I still cant get to page 6 wtf
the variable weighting is pretty subtle on the topre bro most people prefer it over the 55g uniform weighting
Sounds good. Have you ever tried one? If yes, how would you say compares the tactility of the Topre switch to that of a Cherry MX Blue?
Just remembered about the keyboard in my garage, what is the best way to take keycaps off a cherry brown switch?
I can reccomend you the Steelseries 7G, awesome to write on, and awesome wrist rest. Either with a knife or just your fingers.
Force. Either with a knife or just your fingers.
Be careful though - if you tear out the whole switch you'll have a problem. http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:12649

WHAT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WATING FOR...! [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] sorry about the quality, I had to do it handheld in shite light
That should be one of the old BTC switches. Capacitive but actually even worse than modern rubberdomes.
Oh woohoo. A worthless keyboard.
I wouldn't say that. I mean its switches aren't exactly good but it might be worth something for collectors looking for something like this out of curiosity.
This thread made me hook my model M back up. I forgot what it was like to have tactile and audible feedback. Makes me wonder why I even have a steelseries keyboard. [Oh wait, it was free! :v:]
Since Unicomp has decided to ship using golden-feathered pigeons for $150, I couldn't order it. :saddowns: Is there a website that sells cheap Model M's?

If you guys are interested in custom keycaps for Cherry MX switches, check this out: http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13664
keyboardco does red/blue wasd keys for filco boards, do they not do other keys in custom colours? i thought rather than a steelseries i would get a filco and replace the keys commonly used in arma 2 in a different colour

Signature Platics (keycapsdirect.com/) does a great job in that field, but since small quantities cost a lot, your best bet is the link I posted above. There you'll find Orange, Blue, White and Red WASD keys, and also WASD keys with arrows instead of letters on them.
i did look at that but i coloured layouts dont cover what i want, you can stioll suggest layouts but there isnt much point a single person suggesting a layout for a specific game isnt going to get much support. what that guy on geekhack should do is produce the complete uk layout in each colour then people could buy each one and just use the individual keys they want. if a bigger reseller like keyboardco were to do this they could drive the price down as they would sell a lot more units
That keybored asking 20.00 + shipping
