I would highly recommend using a primer first.
@JOE
On smooth metal, regular paint doesn't like to adhere. Also, if you are thinking of using a matte paint. Don't. Matte paints are a pain to clean if you get any dust in there. Also, when painting make sure you have ample time to let the paint dry and that it is in as dry of conditions as possible. If you need any specific advice, I painted my whole HAF black on the inside.
eh i didn't use primer and no chipping has occured/paint peeling flaking off of the chasis, and i painted it in september. I also used matte paint and i have yet to clean my case for 4 months. It might be because i have a dust filter though. I did 2 coats of spray paint. I sprayed the 1st coat and then a second coat about 15 minutes later. Usually the can has information on drying. My case has none of the setbacks you stated though.

I honestly didn't even try to fit all of those wires in there, it would probably end up on fire.
And this is a stock HP Pavillion case, it's only 15" long/tall.

anyone have any pointers on how to fix this mess?
Use cable ties, tuck cables behind the graphics card and the hard drive bay (make sure to keep your 24-pin behind the rest of the cables). Also, I'd ditch the Coolmax PSU. They have a reputation for failing early. In replacement I'd go with any of the following brands: Enermax, OCZ, Ultra, Antec, Corsair, PC Power & Cooling. If you're really serious about cable management I'd cut 3 holes in the mobo tray. One big one down near the PSU, and 2 along the side of the motherboard like any standard case, but hey, your cable management now is a lot better than what mine was like when I first built my PC.

Edit: holy shit that looks bad.

Is it just me or is your Xiggy crooked?
At least it proves that more cables on the back make it look better on the front ;)
Ya, thanks. Having a fan controller is annoying cable wise, as is how shallow Lian Li back panels are.
My cpu cooler looks retarded right now. I have a custom bracket coming in the mail soon that will allow me to mount it vertically.

Second pic is kinda old.
I fixed up my cables, I'll post pics tomorrow since I'm too lazy to right now.
I was bored today so i decided to up my cable management in my antec 300 a bit. Being the cheap bastard i am, i did my own little trick and made all my cables black (excluding the 12v to cpu, i'm getting an extension so i can re-route it behind the motherboard so it is no longer visible). I'm actually quite pleased with the results
chuck i like the paint but that hole is gastly
what hole? the one where are the psu cables go through? that just looks bad because i got lazy with electric tape so the cables wouldn't be threatened by the rough edges of the case
what cpu cooler is that woodchuck?

Hmm, similar to the CNPS9900, but not completely, looks better in black though
It's great circulation.
It's great at collecting and circulating dust-bunnies. :downs:

Yeah but at the price of a green LED. Green is really ugly in my opinion, unless you can get your entire build to match it. That little bastard is why I went with a Freezer 7 Pro instead.
Everyones is soo clean, inside of my pc you would be not able to find where cpu is.

he uses new wireless power cables :science:

Once I get my new motherboard, I will try out cable management, but the only holes on the motherboard tray are under the motherboard -.-
I'm going to neaten up my cables after my god damn new case gets here.
edit:
Lancool K62 incase anyone was wondering.

where did the LED come from?

Man that must have great airflow, I really wish I had the money to get a new build with a decent case, mine is a mess :v: (I am storing about 6 or more cables from a OCZ PSU on my HDD as there is nowhere else to keep them. Airflow rape)

Once you go modular, you will never want to go back ;)

The annoying thing is, I was going to buy the ModXStreme version of my current PSU instead of buying the one I am using, but I didn't quite have the extra funds.
Power + Ethernet.
