First review of the GTX580 - $500, quieter than a GTX280

it seriously just says that because it doesn't see "580"
try it, it most likely runs fine. above 60fps? maybe not, but it'll still run. i'm going to try and see.
Just change the vendor .inf
hilariously enough they don't utilize SLI, so i'm only using one 460, then.
Endless City doesn't run that great, but Alien Vs Triangles does. maybe when they release a new driver, i'm surprised they haven't already for the release of the 580
Just change the vendor .inf
what he's referring to is the nVidia's "Cool Stuff" section. you have an option to let the site scan your pc and see if you can run the demos. aside for directx differences, it's bull shit, but it's not like any other hardware scan website is any different (yougamers.com, systemrequirementslab.com)
According to benchmarks the 4870 is still doing well against 4xx and 6xxx cards
what how is this can be possible

are these real benchmarks or are they in your mind?
Used one, there is real amount of room for improvement in the card, but there always is.
And, it doesn't fuck up if you play Crysis at anything less than 100% fan speed.
I haven't used the AMD 6xxx series (if they are out, I don't even know) but somehow I doubt that this card will be the best.

How's those shrooms you're on, buddy?
But can it play Crysis 2?
[editline]11th November 2010[/editline]
Problem?

Considering CryENGINE 3's more optimized than 2, I do think so, as I guess it runs Crysis/Wars quite well.
I still have 8800GTS :saddowns:
I should upgrade already.
Guys, forgive my ignorance, but is the 580 the high-end of this generation? :ohdear:
Single GPU? maybe, depends on how the 6970 preforms, but if you are counting in the 6990 (The dual 6970) it will probably kick the 580's ass, especially when counting in crossfire performance in the 6xxx series.

for nVidia, for now, yes. but they might/most likely will release a dual-GPU sometime between now and early next year.

It will be a shame if the dual 6 can't beat single nvidia

Yep.
REAL shame.

We'll know in about 3 months.

it should be the high end of the 5 series, except for the dual GPU card (possibly)

Is there going to be a GTX 560?
Is there going to be a GTX 560?
Yeah, they'll re-release the 460 as the GTX 95680.
Yeah, they'll re-release the 460 as the GTX 95680.
Which is fine by me as long as MSI keeps putting cyclone coolers on them. They're brilliant cards.
Is there going to be a GTX 560?
Rumors are early 2011 I believe, but it could be sooner. Pretty much nobody expected the 580 this early.
My friend just got 2 gtx 580s and they work great they are quit, have good power consumption and run at good temps I would greatly recommend this card to anyone who can afford it lol at 550 a piece Canadian if you are willing to fork it out i would get it.
That's great, bumping the thread wasn't really necessary.
Yes there will be a gtx 560 here's the link in release date hope it helps
