Apple responds to reception issue. Software issue apparently.

Messing with the mind.

Ahh, what?
He's just a fanboy, nothing wrong with that... Besides missing the obvious, and annoy us other people a little bit.

If you like to look at everyone who owns an iPhone 4 as a fanboy, that's your decision.
Just don't say it to my face.

Read up. Software ain't gonna solve a hardware problem.
It was a goddamn joke. Didn't you see my thread in H&S about iPhone 4 breaking easily? You can imagine I'm not Apple's biggest fan...
What he's saying is that if the software believes there is no signal it will drop the call, and that once the fix is released it will stop reading the signal falsely and therefore stop dropping the call.

It's not going to solve the problem but according to that, as the iPhone 4 is now, it works better than people put on.
Why would the software drop the call? What purpose would that serve? I believe that when you are on a call, it will stay connected until it can't because there is no signal. That's like your car dying when your busted gas meter is saying you are out of gas even though it actually has half a tank.
Not a hardware issue.
Drivers on a computer can compare to this. Hardware doesn't work correctly if the software doesn't work correctly.
And, you drop a call because the software tells the phone there is no signal. It is not connected straight to the network. This is why they are redoing the algorithm.

It's not gas.

Jesus, are you really that thick?
First of all, the actual telephone part of the iPhone operates on the lowest level of the software. It operates lower then the actual iOS, with another OS taking control of it (Nucleaus OS on 2G, 3G and 3GS or ThreadX on 4). iOS only issues a few commands to it like text, call or hang up.
iOS frequently contacts the other OS to check reception. It then uses the alogrithm to choose how many bars should be displayed on screen. This is all Apple is changing. They're changing the alogrith to show more bars for less reception.
Now come on, use your head, the iPhone is not going to drop a call just because it thinks there is no reception - if it does, there goes all sorts of redundancy.
Try this (actually don't because it's illegal - NO DON'T), call 911, 000, 112, 999 or whatever the emergency number is in your country. Your phone will remain at NO SERVICE, but the call will still go through.
Why does that happen if the phone thinks it's got no reception? It doesn't display the bars of the other network it's using, I can tell you that.

Exactly this.
Please provide the sources of your said knowledge.
Ceebs other than this for example:

Asking for sources is the worst possible rebuttle you could make in an argument. You could look it up on the internet to refute.
You could at least answer my question without further argument.
An example is not a source
An example is not a source
It's not an example. It's how it works.
Are you being serious or are you just a troll?

I'm not Apples biggest fan, this doesn't mean I'm a Windows fanboy. I like some of their products, this doesn't include their computers though, but I really think they have made some good products, that pushed the industry forward (A.K.A the iPod/iPhone). But this is clear bullshit. Everyone should be able to see that. I know what he were saying, and if you read my answer, you will see that I was clearly aware of what he meant, and that I just prooved him wrong. Saying Apple fucked up isn't fanboyism, but believing this, is. My post were correct, and his were pure bullshit. Think about it for a minute; What should this solve? Nothing.
Ok, maybe "fanboy" isn't the best word... Naive is probably more fitting.

You just keep reassuring the unapproved.
Make yourself useful.

Stop pretending you know what you're talking about. If you do, go ahead, refute my points.
Claiming source as your reasoning to invalidate my argument is stupid.
I vote troll, no-one can be THAT dumb...
I concur. Too bad we can't feed it anymore. :<
He isn't perma'd, just banned for 3 days. I'll go get some nice dogbiscuits...
I like how they're trying to solve the problem with an illusion.
/sarcasm.
When does the update come out.
When does the update come out.
