Read it somewhere at [H], maybe just speculation, but I wouldn't doubt it being correct.
Why would you even need such an incredibly high resolution? I'm perfectly happy with 1280*1024.
I was happy with 1280 x 1024 and 1600 x 1200, but then I finally got a widescreen and after adjustment I wouldn't use a 4:3 ratio again unless I need to. I only go as high as 1920 x 1080 (monitor limit) and I don't need it that high.
If the pricing of the 5870 in the UK is the same as dollars then someone should be sued for daylight robbery, i'm not paying £400 for a GPU that's not even their maximum end, I would expect to pay £400 for a 5870x2. £400 is about $662...
I need a new processor first if anything :(

Bloody government.
Well, fuck nvidida I'm an ati fan-fag now :fappery:
I still don't understand why people are saying "heh lok ati beter card lets be ati fanboi naow and ditch nvidiaaa" because NVIDIA has not really pushed or at least talked about their new cards. ATI is just wide open about it, because, people like ^ above, think just cause ATI makes a new generation card, means NVIDIA sucks. NVIDIA will die if they don't make a faster or eqv. card, so given that, they will. NVIDIA isn't dumb. I'm not saying don't be an ATI Fanboy, just don't be one until you actually have the card you dream of. Its like saying "i like Xs new product that has not been released, even though I've been using Ys for years and years, and I'm a total Y fanboy! I don't care what Y makes anymore! I'm now a X fanboy"
The GT300's die will be larger then my car's wheels.
 lol
Why would you even need such an incredibly high resolution? I'm perfectly happy with 1280*1024.
That's what they said back in the days of 800x600 I think

In exchange for cheaper prices you lost 5-10 fps depending on what game and settings. The cost/benefit ratio is much higher with ATi. Although that isn't to say that the 285 and 295 will drop significantly in prices once these pretties hit the market.
Why would you even need such an incredibly high resolution? I'm perfectly happy with 1280*1024.
Yes because everyone who isn't you loves to look at stretched textures.

I'm definitely swapping my 4870 out for one of those.
Man. I'm still stuck with this 3850 that wants to crash every 45 mins, while powerful GPU's are being announced and released.
Why would you even need such an incredibly high resolution? I'm perfectly happy with 1280*1024.
I used to run 1280x1024 on my old 17", and I actually think that I should have stuck to a little lower than 1920x1080. Also guise I think I'll stick to my 295GTX :smug:
Ok so if the 5850 comes out on Sept. 22nd, who's selling it? Newegg? Cause if so I'm going to be refreshing Newegg at 12am like a madman. :P
Man. I'm still stuck with this 3850 that wants to crash every 45 mins, while powerful GPU's are being announced and released.
I have a 3850 dont diss it there awesome
I had to put a 5th hat on bcuase i tipped it so much it fell off then i fell over and nerdgasm'd
Fuck yes. I'm saving my money for a new build in December. I'm 18 in October so I will be getting shit loads of cash + money from working, combined with Christmas/January sales I think I'm going to be getting one badass motherfucker of a PC :smug:

Hoping the 5870 is around the same. Not gonna get one but. I appreciate this is amazingly good, but 4870 is still fucking amazing for what I do.
getting a 5870 but a 5850+5850 seems tempting
:saddowns: Too bad I can't afford this.

Highway robbery fff
getting a 5870 but a 5850+5850 seems tempting
Do you know the 5850 price?
Do you know the 4850 price?
5850 you mean? $299 According to wiki.
5850 you mean? $299 According to wiki.
Dear lord, I think I might buy one.
If only if I didn't have to save up for a damn RX-7
Might have to swap my 2 4870's for a 5870x2 when they're released.. That would be nice :)
I'm kinda doubting the benchmark results, one 295 overpowers a 4870x2, but this new card is a single and outdoes 2 295s?
