Or 30 to just upgrade to the new OS. I will admit, Microsoft should model Apple when it comes to their OS prices.
Apple can afford to make it that cheap since their hardware is so expensive. [editline]03:27PM[/editline]
Apple is promising its OS will deliver on many of the improvements Microsoft highlights in Windows 7 — 64-bit addressing
Wait what? Is he saying that Apple is just now making 64-bit OSes?
Or 30 to just upgrade to the new OS. I will admit, Microsoft should model Apple when it comes to their OS prices.
Snow Leopard is somewhat different to before, basically because it's not a feature release, there are some UI refinements and some new features of coursem but it's mainly a technology/under the hood release. I'm sure the next update will be back to the $120 price. [editline]09:33PM[/editline]
Wait what? Is he saying that Apple is just now making 64-bit OSes?
apparently (talking about leopard):
The Kernel is a true 32/64bit hybrid. This is excellent as the drivers from panther/jaguar days still work.Just run the included Chess program and fire up Activity Monitor and look for Chess. It will show up as Intel 64 bit if you have a 64 bit capable processor.
"It’ll Cost You Time, Too" WTF? I'm 14 and I installed Windows 7 in less than 5 minutes. Install time does not count. And I have never seen a bootuptime like this before.
Can you give some examples? Just curious, never heard anyone say this before.
In terms of user-friendlyness Windows Vista is a lot more helpful to the new computer user. When you start Vista you're greeted with a screen that tells you how to use windows, your PC, and more. In Windows 7 you get a blank desktop. Windows Vista still sleeps faster than Windows 7 for me, it still shuts down faster, and for some crazy reason (probably drivers), it plays games faster. Don't get me wrong, Windows 7 is awesome in terms of speed and new features, but it's a little lacking in user-friendly-ness and some areas of speed. That and the UI has so many inconsistencies (Icons, certain gradients/images), Vista is somewhat more consistent. But that stuff is all minor, and shouldn't be a reason why Vista > 7. Just saying that it's better in some areas. (To anyone wondering why i'm so pro-Vista - I followed it from Beta 2, and i didn't hear much criticism of it until a few months after I bought my first Vista rig, and over those months I found it amazingly awesome.)
That Welcome screen was one of the worst things about Vista.
1 Good reason to get windows 7 It's not Snow Leopard :smug:
In terms of user-friendlyness Windows Vista is a lot more helpful to the new computer user.
 edit: give me books
If install time does not count. Meaning the time the setup is copying files ect. And the fact that English is not my native language, you cant call that slow.
i got my windows 7 for 50$ owned
If install time does not count. Meaning the time the setup is copying files ect. And the fact that English is not my native language, you cant call that slow.
Yeah I saw that later.
Fuck your couch, I fucking love Windows 7.
Keep in mind. it's still a beta Beta means they know there's still shit to be done.
It went out of beta a very long time ago. Windows 7 has been finished for the past like 6 months.
whoah
The Tru7h is out there!
It’s Still Windows Windows isn't going to open an adobe file because hey guess what, it's 3rd party software. Searching for a program would be cool, i'll admit, but bashing windows because it can't natively open an adobe file is really really stupid.
Um Windows does search for programs. Granted it is a bit rubbish, but it is there. And a format from a big company like Adobe IMO should have been picked up on in the file extension search.
Doesn't Windows' dialog take you to http://filext.com/ 's page of the format you're trying to open when you click some option?
Um Windows does search for programs. Granted it is a bit rubbish, but it is there. And a format from a big company like Adobe IMO should have been picked up on in the file extension search.
It's so crappy though i didn't even want to mention it.

You forgot to mention it's the exact same fucking thing as Vista, just with a different skin.
You forgot to mention it's the exact same fucking thing as Vista, just with a different skin.
You seemed to have missed the point of this thread.

Horrible reasons, except the price.. I find it very expensive. I think vista users should get W7 a bit cheaper than Xp users.
Horrible reasons, except the price.. I find it very expensive. I think vista users should get W7 a bit cheaper than Xp users.
Should've bought it when it was $50. All Windows upgrades are expensive, and it's totally worth the $190.
Windows 7 is cinda like a big update on vista
Should've bought it when it was $50. All Windows upgrades are expensive, and it's totally worth the $190.
Mother Fuck.. When was that? And wow, i cant find a SINGLE place where i can preorder w7.. [editline]02:18AM[/editline]
Windows 7 is cinda like a big update on vista
It is.
It went out of beta a very long time ago. Windows 7 has been finished for the past like 6 months.
Either you pirated the rtm version (naughty pirate) or you was using the beta version with a few issues.
Either you pirated the rtm version (naughty pirate) or you was using the beta version with a few issues.
You can get the RTM right now if you an appropriate MSDN or Technet account.
snow leapord is a service pack not a OS
You forgot to mention it's the exact same fucking thing as Vista, just with a different skin.
No it's not. That is like saying Snow Leopard is exactly the same as Leopard.
No it's not. That is like saying Snow Leopard is exactly the same as Leopard.
Well.....
