Yeah I know. Bad example.
What about my brother getting Windows 7 as a FREE upgrade because he bought a Vista Laptop in July for 700 EUROS and it has better specs than any shitmac? :smug:
Let's go through this idiot's Cons Upgrading From Windows XP Requires a Clean Install Boo fucking hoo, so does going from 32bit to 64bit. If you do an upgrade install, you're an idiot anyways.
Yeah i know, right? Genesis was soo last year. Lets go 64 bit with the Nintendo 64! Anyway, gettin' right back on track This won't stop anyone from getting windows 7. Thankfully, Americans are more susceptable to BIG BOLD WORDS than actually trying to concieve what this guy is pulling out his macfaggoty ass.
I agree with what was already said. I was hoping I was going to read this and maybe someone had discovered some huge flaw in windows 7 or read some fine print, but no they gave some generic reasons why not to ever use windows. Like the it's still windows? They complain that you have to tell Windows what to do when you put a flash drive in? Maybe I don't want it to pop up with a file browser every time I plug something in. I guess I could spend time picking this whole thing apart but I don't want to waste time preaching to the choir, and this guy who is obviously a brain washed mac fan won't ever read any of the criticism on his article and if he does he will just ignore it.
Either you pirated the rtm version (naughty pirate) or you was using the beta version with a few issues.
I'm using the RTM build which is identical to the RC aside from the wallpaper.
Those reasons seemed pretty... rubbish. None of them were big issues and compared to reasons for they are very minor.
Okay, all these reasons are stupid.
Upgrading From Windows XP Requires a Clean Install
They should reinstall on upgrades, anyways. It helps clean out your registry and stops programs from messing up (like if you try to upgrade from XP to Vista without a clean install).
The Upgrade Is Expensive
If they were smart enough to pre-order, they would've gotten it for $50. :) And it costs more than Mac because we don't have to pay Microsoft $2000 for a sucky PC.
It’ll Cost You Time, Too
...This is just stupid.
Security Isn’t Automatically Better
...Are they retarded?
Also, Windows 7 doesn’t immediately know what to do with some pretty obvious tasks. When you insert a thumb drive, for example, you must tell Windows 7 what to do with it (i.e. open the folder and view the files) and customize a setting to get the OS to automatically behave that way. In short, when getting started you’ll have to do a lot of tweaking and customizing to get moving smoothly. That’s unfortunately an experience all Windows users are accustomed to — things don’t “just work.”
It's not Microsoft's problem to keep with the 1000 different filetypes. Besides the fact that there are dozens of programs that use the same extension but different filetype.
It's Still Windows Snow Leopard Is Almost Here
:)
Not jumping on the mac bandwagon, but this thread seems like a PC circle jerk.
Buy a whole new Windows OS every 4 years, sometimes longer. Free service packs. Buy a service pack for Mac OS every year.
Buy a whole new Windows OS every 4 years, sometimes longer. Free service packs. Buy a service pack for Mac OS every year.
AFAIK the Mac service packs are a lot cheaper. It's not a valid comparison.
AFAIK the Mac service packs are a lot cheaper. It's not a valid comparison.
Then again you pay an assload more for the brand.

It's for Macs. We talk about Windows here.
And I'm a Mac user.
i say to hell with all the new OS coming out. Im staying with my old Windows XP Professional. Never let me down...
i got my windows 7 for 50$ owned
I got the RTM for FREE. Owned.
:downs: Screw Windows 7, Fedora 12 is coming out this fall.
Who has EVER heard of Fedora? what the hell is that? Anyways, Windows 7 looks awesome, im going to get it when it comes out!
1 Reason to Avoid Windows: You might fall out and get hurt. :downsrim:
Who has EVER heard of Fedora? what the hell is that? Anyways, Windows 7 looks awesome, im going to get it when it comes out!
A lot of people have heard of Fedora.
Who has EVER heard of Fedora? what the hell is that?
apparently everyone except you. its linux.
goddamn macfags. I swear, I'm going to start a business with the goal of killing apple for good.
You're an idiot.
Well, I guess I'll just uninstall Windows from my computer and install Leopard. Oh wait...
Make OSX work on hardware other than your proprietary overpriced shit and I'll consider dual booting it with Windows 7
Still enjoying Irix 6.5 with the .30 overlay. :smug:
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/08/7-reasons-to-avoid-windows-7/ It's pretty obvious that this guy is a macfag
1. This is fairly easy to do, Microsoft shouldn't at this point have to worry about an OS that's almost 10 years old. 2. Amazon are pedalling it for £60, get it now, get it cheap. 3. If you can't afford the time needed to upgrade, it's not the OS's fault. That's a reason to avoid all upgrades. 4. If it takes a significant amount of time to set up windows for what is most likely basic business work such as word processing and maybe some third party software you need a better IT team. 5. It isn't automatically better, microsoft actually worked on making it better. It is a lot better. 6. Oh noes, I can't pirate or copy stuff, woe is me! Also, there's simple ways around this for the home user. 7. Yes, it is almost here, then again windows 7 is better for the majority of people because of it's compatibility with most programs. These reasons smell of mac.

If you’re looking (or willing) to switch to a radically different OS, then OS X Snow Leopard is an option to consider before committing to Windows 7.
Probably.
buy some dvds. like $5
I have 500+ GB of random shit that I may or may not need and can't be bothered sorting it, I'm gonna jam it all onto DVD's (I got them on sale, 250 for £15) and migrate to windows 7, then I'm gonna go through it all, copying the stuff I need. Should cut down on the random shit. [editline]07:53PM[/editline]
goddamn macfags. I swear, I'm going to start a business with the goal of killing apple for good.
IPod's aren't awful. [incoming Zunefag shitstorm]
Why i would want a Vista or 7 ... this means upgrading hardware and stuff, which is money. OS itself is money. And DX 10 - PFFFTTT. Why i need DX10 if i play Solitaire, Free Cell, Doom 2 and some other old games, if i hardly play at all. Im very pleased with XP and Ubuntu im currently using.
