Honestly, a stupid 11 year old girl is likely to pick up lots of malware (ooh free emoticons! ^_^), so maybe install Ubuntu, seeing as it's pretty simple, and pretty much virus immune. Or one of the dumbed down versions (I remember a netbook version or something) if she's REALLY stupid.
I dissagree :3
congratulations i don't want to know why [editline]14th December 2010[/editline]
Honestly, a stupid 11 year old girl is likely to pick up lots of malware (ooh free emoticons! ^_^), so maybe install Ubuntu, seeing as it's pretty simple, and pretty much virus immune. Surely, with all the support and features in Ubuntu, they'd add something to make it easier to install than the standard way?
If your sister drinks near a computer, I suggest a semi-rugged and water resistant keyboard with it. I dunno if a Fizzbook Spin would make her pleased.
An 11 year old girl trying to use terminal. Lol.
I could use terminal when I was 11. Though I'm not a girl, I don't think that makes much difference.
If he's worried about malware he'll probably just stick comodo on with paranoid mode and require a password. Windows 7 will be fine.
Some Flash games will absolutely rape an Atom with an Intel GMA, just to note.
Get her that new Hp with the snap on cover, now she can have any colour she likes.
no
Like shes goanna care about what OS is on it. 11 Year old Girl sees Macbook. Reaction: Priceless
MacBook. It's white, it's under 1 grand(by $1 :v:). Not Win7, True, but it fits the bill, and it should survive a rampaging 11 year old, too.
It does not fit the bill if you even attempted to read the OP.
Some Flash games will absolutely rape an Atom with an Intel GMA, just to note.
judging by my sister's complaints, "some" is closer to "nearly all"
Get her one of those barbie learning laptops. Also not a mac.
Should suffice.
I recently got a Sony Vaio CW series for about £500, it comes in various colours (including pink!) and is a pretty good machine. Good ram, hard drive and processor, decent graphics card (no problem running decent games) and one of the best keyboards I have ever used. Battery life is also pretty decent, even doing modelling on 3DS Max and compiling OpenGL stuff the battery still lasts at least 3 hours.

just get her a fucking ipad
just get her a fucking ipad
She's 11. She'll find some way to fuck it up. Plus, it's not pink.
Yeah, get it. Its decent for the price. But if you're still intersted in a touchscreen notebook. The best tablet I can find that is affordable would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834157430 which is actually really nice. And by the pictures it kind of has a pinkish look. The specs are not bad at all. And the screen turns around and can be folded down into a tablet-style computer which would probably amuse a 11 year old. [img_thumb]http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/7900/57645171.png[/img_thumb]
I fucking love this laptop, although I would try and get the older model as it has better battery life. [editline]14th December 2010[/editline] And yes, it will have a pink tint in natural sunlight. The aluminum is anodized that it changes color depending on the light source.

She doesn't need a laptop or any type of electronic device, make her go outside or something. She will likely abuse the camera and the computer as a whole. She just doesn't need it, get her one when she is like fifteen and responsible.
I'm sorry, but no 11 year old needs a laptop... EVER.
I needed a laptop for school at 9, and I've had a computer ever since I was 5. It's a wonderful thing embracing computers at an early age, as they will learn how to use the computer responsibly (if their parents drill it in to their heads though).
I had a laptop when I was in primary school, one of those huge IBM bricks that was probably heavier than me!
I had a I needed one for school at twelve, I ended up just looking at funny cat pictures and playing minesweeper all day, ruining my social life and school ability. Good thing I stopped and went outside. *Generic don't get it for her response*
if I got a laptop when I was in elementary school it would have cost about two grand
if I got a laptop when I was in elementary school it would have cost about two grand
uoldbro? No but really, my first computer was Windows 98, and I got it right after my step dad got his torrented version of Windows XP. Then, in 02 he put XP on it and I waited about 4 years for my current broken ass desktop. Now I'm on my laptop. But I have about 5-8 computers.
Don't be stupid.
how is he being stupid?

an ipad isn't a half bad idea apart from the no-flash fiasco. [editline]15th December 2010[/editline]
she sees mackbook. reaction: this cost you a thousand dollars?
