Ok, so Tiger Direct just went out of stock of the laptop that I was going to buy after graduation. (to be specific, this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1753820&CatId=4938 ) So I was wondering if anyone knew of something with similar specs and price from any distribution site in the US. Sort of a question, I suppose. I should probably mention what the price was. It was roughly $860.
Friend of mine gave me game of thrones on DVD for my birthday, whats the best program to watch them with on PC? I don't feel like downloading codecs to get windows media player to work.
VLC will play anything you throw at it. Even the obscure formats that haven't been invented yet.
VLC will play anything you throw at it. It looks really nice and is a fantastic alternative in my opinion.
What's a good quiet fan that still has reasonable airflow?
Scythe GentleTyphoon
I'm guessing not the 5400rpm variant. :v:
Ap14 is probably the highest I would go if you care about noise. I have four AP13's in my case.
Newegg has the OCZ Vertex3 SSD marked to $110 is it worth it or are there better deals? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227706
I'm guessing not the 5400rpm variant. :v:
because recording a fan that's flat on a solid surface is a good way to measure its loudness, right
this is currently the only issue I have with vista. other than that, I'm fine.
People usually don't have a problem with outdated operating systems until they try the new one and see how silly they were to stick with the old one. I switched from vista to 7 on my laptop and it actually runs a lot faster. :v:

It's not outdated in the sense that XP is; most of the major changes to the kernel and driver system happened in Vista. Windows 7 is basically just Vista SP3, with some changes to the taskbar. (The kernel is even listed as version 6.1, not 7, showing that it's a minor update from Vista's 6.0)
How is a Geforce GT 520? My brother bought me one but havnt got it.
How is a Geforce GT 520? My brother bought me one but havnt got it.
crap
How is a Geforce GT 520? My brother bought me one but havnt got it.
It's what one would consider a low-mid range card. It's not total trash, it can probably kick the shit out of source games. (Which isn't saying a lot, but Source is still a widely played engine and thus such information isn't irrelevant.) It also manages to look better while doing it.
When I plug in my headphones the sound still comes out of the speakers. It's been doing this for a while and I've just been dealing with it. Does anyone have a quick solution, I feel like it's probably an easy fix.... and i realize my computer is a bit warm.

So steam downloads have been pissing me off. First it was with steam downloading 11GB for a 800MB update. Now it's that the download progress is jumping around backwards. Is there anything to stop this bullshit and just get back to steam downloading at the correct size?
how can you tell the internal IP of a router?

So Diablo 3 just released and i am unable to play. around 2-5 minutes into it the game will stutter and the screen will go black, graphic drivers crash and then some times the computer will just all out crash. I have a HD6970 and im running on the 12.3 drivers. I've tried the 12.4 12.2 and even 12.1 drivers and they ALL do this. I tried running BF3 for a good hour and i had no issues what so ever.
Newegg has the OCZ Vertex3 SSD marked to $110 is it worth it or are there better deals? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227706
How much would it cost you to get a Crucial M4 or Sandisk instead? OCZ have an extremely poor historic failure rate, leading every other manufacturer by a significant margin as of Hardware.fr's last report on return rates. Of the SSDs that tend to be well-priced, the Crucial M4 is generally the best regarded option, followed by non OCZ Sandforce drives using cheaper NAND, such as Sandisk and Corsair's cheaper options. If you can get the Intel 330 for a similar or lower price then that's also an option, carrying Intel's fairly high reputation in terms of reliability. All of the current generation SSDs will be fast enough that there are little to no noticeable differences between them in terms of speed, so a general focus is reliability.
Is the Corsair 240GB Force Series 3 any good in comparison to the Crucial M4? The Corsair seems to have double the write speed of the M4. (I just heard what my IDE Maxtor HDD's sound like and holy fuck they need to be retired.)
