ok question, does it matter what type of motherboard i get. does it have to be VERY specific or is there a wide range of ones i can get?
(long story: mines busted and i need a new one, i bought this computer off my friend very cheap £100 for a quad core, 3gb ram, 1.5gb gfxcard, 250gbHDD so a good computer just that the motherboard is a bit fucked blue screening for no reason random errors and glitches files not being read and stuff not installing correctly (a assume that's to do with the MOBO at least.))

oh my fuck, i love you
i've been looking for this for ages
Or you could use Speccy.
Or you could use Speccy.
could do, but i've always used the one above (just couldn't remember what it was called.)
Is there any way to delete the audio track on an MP4 video without reencoding?
could do, but i've always used the one above (just couldn't remember what it was called.)
Personal preference I suppose, I prefer Speccy's UI to CPU-Z's at a glance but CPU-Z has better organisation for the down and dirty specs.
GTX 570 or HD 7850? Taking into account heat, noise and drivers as well as performance.
GTX 570 or HD 7850? Taking into account heat, noise and drivers as well as performance.
In regards to heat and noise, along with power consumption, the 7850 wins out. Performance is pretty close with the ATi card winning out in some games and vice versa for the nVidia. In the 30-50fps range there was approximately a 10fps difference in the performance.
I can't say much about nVidia's drivers, though the current ATi drivers are pretty good. I haven't had any crashes or massive errors, minor one incident with Skyrim and anti-aliasing enabled.
[editline]Edit:[/editline]
Not that I think a baseless Disagree rating will sway your opinion, but here's what I used to base my suggestion on: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549?vs=518

Honestly that sounds like your HDD is dying

Thanks, I think I'll go for the 7850 as the heat level is much better and that is one of the main reasons I need a new GPU.

Explain how ATI have good drivers, almost everyone with an ATI card says they are shit compared to Nvidias.
If you don't ask much from your card, the AMD drivers generally are just fine. They're just a little simple for folks who need more control.
My 6870 gets me by just fine. I've only rarely ran into issues with it.
Explain how ATI have good drivers, almost everyone with an ATI card says they are shit compared to Nvidias.
Because not once have I crashed due to a driver error? When I was using nVidia cards, drivers would crash and recover like clockwork.

they were really terrible for a couple months but they're fine now
Not really software question, but this is the closest thread I could find to ask.
What the hell is this:

I keep seeing these type of characters used to grab attention, but I want to know what the hell they are.

Unicode combining diacritical marks.
Unicode is a character system used for encoding every single alphabet, from Latin (the one we're using) to Cyrillic to Greek to Elvish - even the millions of Chinese characters.
Diacritical marks are used over certain letters to mean certain things, generally pronunciation. For instance, the letter e is pronounced one way, while e with an umlaut is pronounced another (obviously hard to describe using text).
While Unicode has dedicated characters for the common ones, they found that it would be much easier to just make "umlaut" and such into actual characters, essentially "letters", and just make them "combine with" the previous character, or in some cases two characters.
What you see is what happens when instead of writing normally ("letter O acute diacritic letter K letter U"), they combine combining characters ("letter N acute diacritic acute diacritic acute diacritic acute diacritic acute diacritic").

Hey dudes,
Could anyone tell me why my specs:
i5-2410M @ 2.30GHz
ATI Radeon HD 6490M
6.00GB RAM
struggles to run Skyrim at low settings, while this guy can do Ultra?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CytuzdoRVPU
He's got the same specs, -2.0 GB. I think the problem is that this laptop (yes, i know, laptop gaming) uses switchable graphics. Except, when I engage the Radeon rather than the Intel Mobile GPU, my framerate is worse? Honestly, setting the battery use to Power Saving and using the Intel GPU for Skyrim gives me twice the framerate (which is about 20 FPS).
I'm wondering, should the 6490M even be able to handle Skyrim that well normally, or did that guy miraculously receive a GPU from the gods disguised as a 6490M, OR, is HP's setup holding my GPU back?

Weird, I don't see why the Danish UNIX User Group is untrustworthy. At one point they *ran* the TLD for Denmark.
Also, while WOT lists it as "very poor", it also notes "there's low confidence in this rating" - the site just hasn't been rated by enough people to be reliable

I like WoT but I try not to take it as the final word on anything. How can an average user determine if a site is doing a drive-by or something?
So I will buy a new phone soon (I hope) and I just wonder what brand I should look at in a budget of around 300 USD (MAX 3000 Swedish KR).
I've heard good stuffs about Samsung but I have no idea so could you help me out here?
I found this one for a good price and I thought it was pretty good but I have no idea when it comes to phones

If you don't understand - Good phone for max 300 USD
