Amazon is pretty damn awesome for refurbished cheap monitors/TVs that are in good shape. I picked up a 32" LED TV for like £250 because the box had a rip in it :v: On OcUK this is the cheapest 1920 x 1080 I could find http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-062-AC&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat= Ah, here we go better results on Amazon such as: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Benq-GL2240M-21-5-Gloss-Monitor/dp/B004CZ6MA6/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1337442628&sr=1-7 Search results
If he doesn't want to buy from eBuyer (why, I don't know) then he definitely shouldn't be dealing with OcUK.

Is 1920x1200 good for gaming* and office work, or should I get a standard 1080p 16:9 for a much cheaper price? IMO the extra res would be great for coding and Word. (according to wiki, my FOV would be lower than on 16:9 but I dont care)
Hey guys. I've got a AMD 64 x2 4800 and I'm looking for a good graphics card to pair with it. This desktop currently has 2gb of ram (to be 4 or 6 later). Anyone have any suggestions? Hopefully someone who cruises this sub-forum as much as I do in DD will have some helpfull advice. Looking to not spend over $100 as this is just a desktop for school and mild gaming. Thanks
Okay so I was using Dban to format a harddrive but I accidentally hit auto format and it started to format the flash drive and some other harddrive that I had in that I didn't want formated. I stop it immediately but now the harddrive and flashdrive are both not working and need a format windows say. What I need to know is, is there a software that can open a flashdrive or harddrive and allow me to get the important files that I need? I fixed my problem since my flash drive was corrupt I formated it and used a tool called EASEUS to recover my map files.
I've been trying to get a new computer for a while now, but the money just hasn't ever been there. I worked out a deal with my parents for the one I want later down the line, and this would just be temporary. Should this tide me over for a few months until I have a job and can get a better computer? I was just going to give this to my parents afterwards as they would be helping me pay for it. [editline]19th May 2012[/editline] I have RAM already and the DVD drive is there, just not in the picture. Total is $530, hoping XFX isn't TOO terrible with MIR so I can be just at $500
If you're going M-ATX then get this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352009 and use the extra $20 you saved on the case for this gpu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150598 [editline]19th May 2012[/editline] Or save up a little more for a better psu and a 7850. What's your total budget?
That PSU is also an IED. Get a good one instead.
what are you talking about, PCP&C PSUs are great

What's your total budget?
Thanks for the case suggestion, and I'll probably go for the 7770 now. I don't really have a set budget, it's more whatever my parents are willing to add onto my $150. As I said this will be going to them afterwards so it doesn't need to be anything amazing. Then maybe if I'm lucky I could get a Windows 7 key from a certain someone that frequents these forums to save more money.
I'm looking for a video card, and i have about 120 dollars to spend. I currently have a gts 240, and a dell XPS 420, thanks!
Need a wireless card, router about 23ft away downstairs through 2 thin walls and I guess partly a floor. Max £35 (allows for £25 card and a £10 signal booster dongle if necessary) Was looking at this TP-Link adapter but some of the reviews complain about it having poor range and not installing properly. The router is this unfortunately.
So, help me out here. Tryna build a new pc. I've already got some stuff, salvaged from the old one which fried its motherboard. 500W PSU 500GB hard drive DVD disc drive 3 DDR2 sticks of 1 GB RAM, to be replaced GTS 250, 512mb Looking for: GPU upgrades 2 GB sticks of RAM instead CPU Motherboard Case I aim to make a viable beast of a machine. I'm pretty sure my 250 is SLI compatible--would two 250s in SLI perform well enough to handle most new, graphics-heavy games at good framerate? Or should I just resell the 250 for ~$50 and use that money toward a new Radeon or something? As for the CPU, I'm thinking an i5 @ at least 3.0 ghz. No idea for the motherboard. No clue for a cheap, decent case. Budget is <$500.
That PSU is also an IED. Get a good one instead.
no PC power and cooling is literally the greatest manufacturer of power supplies in history.
I'm looking for a video card, and i have about 120 dollars to spend. I currently have a gts 240, and a dell XPS 420, thanks!
Hmm, maybe a GTX 550 Ti? It has about 1.8x the performance of the GTS 240.
Quick Question: If I'm hosting a LAN (just between 2 computers in a house) server, does it's bandwidth count towards a bitcap set by the ISP?
Assuming it's actually going to be LAN, then no, it's going through your HUB/Switch/Router, and back, not touching the internet. if it's one of those modern games with their fancy never-supporting-LAN-type-connections then, you'll be going up to the net and then back down to your connection. Which sucks, but many games do this now. If the IP you're connecting do is something like 192.168.0.15 or something then it's LAN based, if it's like 74.152.48.3 then it's going out of your LAN to the WAN and back down.
Hey, I dunno if anyone here will be able to help me but it's worth a shot. Here is the situation: I have an openvpn server and want to use it to watch US netflix through my router (so I can use it on my PS3) I have it set up and everything is working fine, but here is the catch: I only want to use it to watch netflix, I want to use my regular internet for everything else, in my current setup absolutely everything goes through the VPN. So I need to edit the script I have on my router to selectively route any calls to netflix through my vpn and nothing else. Here is the full current script I use: http://pastebin.com/aB6gjMpz I have been looking around for a week now and think I have to change the route-up.sh from
iptables -A POSTROUTING -t nat -o tun0 -j MASQUERADE
to something like:
iptables -A POSTROUTING -t nat -o tun0 -j MASQUERADE ip route add default dev tun0 table 200 ip rule add to 69.53.236.17 table 200 ip rule add to 208.75.76.0/22 table 200 ip route flush cache
but that doesn't work, all of my traffic still goes through the vpn. If anyone can help please do, you have no idea the time and pain that has gone into trying to get this to work. edit: I got this to work, solution: http://pastebin.com/JADrvFvW
Does anyone know jobs in the IT industry that require knowledge on binary or boolean logic? I know a few but just want to make sure I'm not missing any important ones. If you haven't worked it out yet it's for a small part of an assignment.
Is there a firefox add-on or something that allows you to download embedded .swfs off websites? Something like a youtube video downloader except for websites like Newgrounds.
For embedded swfs you should be able to find the url of the .swf file in the site's source and just download it from there.
Is it difficult to replace capacitors on a mainboard with a soldering iron? I need to replace two caps in a faulty monitor, and I'm not very experienced in soldering and circuitry.
Everytime I start up my PC, for last few weeks I get an error stating that a Server is Busy. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/897064/20120519_212938.jpg[/t] Sorry for the camera image, if I try to screenshot it goes away. When I hit Switch To... it opens the start menu, but then pops back up. If I hit Retry it does nothing.
Im upgrading my CPU and MOBO next week. Can somebody point me to a good Intel processor and whatever MOBO is compatable?
Is it difficult to replace capacitors on a mainboard with a soldering iron? I need to replace two caps in a faulty monitor, and I'm not very experienced in soldering and circuitry.
Not gonna lie, it's probably going to kill you.

Main thing me and my friend have in common with our computers.

Has anybody made a program to map mouse movement to keyboard macros? Figured maybe Joy2Key would do it but it can't. I just found a copy of Panzer Dragoon for PC, but using the arrow keys to aim is insufferable.
I have 3 of these drives which are Ultra320 and this Ultra160 SCSI card. Now I know that they are compatible, but I have no idea on how to connect them. I have an LVD SCSI cable which is useless because it doesn't fit in the drive, but is there some sort of converter I could use?
I got that once, and my friend gets it all of the time. Wondering what it could be, thinking steam maybe? Main thing me and my friend have in common with our computers.
I don't have Steam on startup.
