Noticeable? Not likely - it was rarely noticeable under PCIe 2.0. Even a x8 is a lot of bandwidth to fill, most of the time it's going to be underutilized. In both cases, though, it's arguably a major difference - a x16 has literally twice the bandwidth of an x8. (Interestingly, a PCIe 3.0 x8 has the same bandwidth as a PCIe 2.0 x16).
Sorry about that, I worded it poorly. When I said major I meant significant noticeable difference as I understand that it's possible that there might be a small noticeable difference but nothing to really worry about. You did however answer my question and for that I am thankful :)
Don't know if any of you will know this but, why can't I change my resolution in red orchestra 2??? I only wish to change it to my native 1920x1080 but when I choose it it won't save.
How much would it be to get a little enclosure for my computer? I'm getting tired of hearing my GPU fan whenever I play a game.
Does anyone know of a way to disable vlc's auto adding files to the playlist when you drag/drop?
Does anyone know of a way to disable vlc's auto adding files to the playlist when you drag/drop?
Quickly googled it and found this: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=97431 Would anyone be able to help me find some RAM? I've found some which looks okay but don't want to be paying more than I should. I don't need anything fancy, just simple dual channel, DDR3 RAM. Unfortunately I'd rather avoid G.Skill as I've read people having issues with G.Skill memory and the motherboard I'm looking at. As I've had experience with Corsair memory before it'd be nice to use them again providing they're prices are roughly the same as the competition. I'd appreciate if you could use PCCaseGear as a reference but you don't have to.

Ever since updating 3ds max it has been crashing randomly with no interaction on my part to cause it. it is this every time followed by the save it creates being corrupted and it asking me if I want to save again. I am running 3ds max 2012 with update 6 and service pack 2 I think and yes, it's official.
I'm not sure how knowledgeable you guys are about this kind of stuff but I'll give it a shot anyways. I downloaded some subtitled videos that I'd like to watch on my HDTV. My Samsung Wi-Fi Blu-Ray player is throwing me two errors (invalid video codec, invalid audio codec) and I'm unsure if the subtitles will work either (Considering the video wouldn't load). Video is h264, audio is 2.0 orbis, subtitles are ASS/SRT (The .mkv contains both) Anyone know how I could get it to work?

When video editing, can I get by with a 5400rpm HDD or should I go 7200 instead?
Try using a different audio codec.
Alright. And actually, I checked my blu-ray player specs and it supports h264... and I tried it again and realized it's actually throwing me an invalid video data error, not invalid video codec. What could that possibly mean?
Have a 15% off any OCZ internal SSD code, thinking about buying http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227795 So thats $85 then a $20 Rebate. This is my motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130618 Should I go for OCZ or should I use a different brand? (Want to use this as an OS drive)
So my dad is shutting off our internet soon and I'm looking for a way to pick up on someone else's signals or something, is there any way to do this?
Alright. 99% sure it is but I just want to make sure before I purchase, is this all compatible? More specifically, will the RAM cause any trouble with this motherboard? I'm confident about everything else. Edit: ordered it all anyway, pretty confident it's all compatible.
Anyone knows a good media player which has overlay like Steam? Shit, I hope I'm writing in right thread..
Anyone knows a good media player which has overlay like Steam? Shit, I hope I'm writing in right thread..
You mean like opening an overlay for chat and stuff while watching a movie in full screen? None that I know of. I wonder what happends if you open any media player through Steam though. :v:
I had the Steam Overlay working on fullscreen Flash videos once. [t]http://files.rewindstudios.com/Screencaps/Youtube-SteamCommunity.png[/t]

The wifi dongle for my desktop seems to have killed itself and I am looking to replace it, is it worth going for an internal wireless network card?
The wifi dongle for my desktop seems to have killed itself and I am looking to replace it, is it worth going for an internal wireless network card?
In my experience, the benefits to PCI-E are outweighed by the ability to move a USB one. I have a USB Adapter with a corded hub so that I can put it on top of my desk, and the quality is just superb. Not to mention, the PCI-E ones with the adjustable antannae are just too easy to break. The antannae on mine disconnected from the part that screws to the PCI-E board. It still works fine, but the reception is just awful. http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=656 That is the highest end USB model that D-Link offers that I have. Surprisingly, my mom bought it for my sister but she uses a laptop now so she uses the built-in wifi. I stole it from her and it gets me 4-5 bars and generally a minimum of 130Mbps connection speed. It's fantastic. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127247 It's also been dropped in price on newegg. Aesome!
R.U.S.E. Beta?
Don't even ask.
Anyone knows a good media player which has overlay like Steam? Shit, I hope I'm writing in right thread..
I used winamp with a plugin for web remote control and used the steam in-game browser to control it. Any media player with a such a plugin would work. Clunkyish but it works.
I was dicking around with the settings in the NVidia controls earlier, and I've apparently managed to get the color space stuck on YCbCr 4:2:2. Not sure why I can't change it back, but it's made everything on my monitor all oversaturated, and some of the images look a bit jagged. I've accidentally done this on three separate driver releases now. Anyone know why? I suppose I should mention that this is over a DisplayPort connection.
Good keyboard to update to from the Logitech G11, anyone? I'm liking the look of the G110, would anyone recommend that?
Good keyboard to update to from the Logitech G11, anyone?
Mechanical keyboard. What budget?
Mechanical keyboard. What budget?
£50-60 Also I'm not buying any keyboards that don't have dedicated media controls.
I'm having DNS problems again.
C:\Users\horsedrowner>nslookup google.com DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. Server: UnKnown Address: 8.8.8.8 DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. *** Time-out in de aanvraag aan UnKnown
Last time I had DNS problems, I eventually got a new router and I no longer had problems, however, now I'm getting them again. Aside from a different router, I'm on a different machine too, however, I've not heard of family members complaining about the internet, so I'm not sure where the issue is. As you can see above, I'm using Google DNS, so I'd assume that's not the problem. Pinging google.com from my router's web interface has no problems. While pinging it on my PC is fine too, I'm mostly suspecting that works because it caches the DNS (since nslookup didn't work). Rebooting the router didn't help. My router is a D-Link DIR-655, I'm using on-board ethernet, motherboard is ASUS P8Z68-V Pro. As I'm typing this though, nslookup works again, but I'm still interested in what the problem could've been, and what I should do the next time it breaks again.
Anyone see anything wrong with this?
