In terms of video editing, what would perform better? A 2.5 ghz quad core i5 or a 2.0 ghz quad core i7?
In terms of video editing, what would perform better? A 2.5 ghz quad core i5 or a 2.0 ghz quad core i7?
In terms of performance while editing, probably the i5. i7 would be faster rendering, most likely. Depends on the specific models though. [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] @_Maverick_ Isn't there an offline install option? Based on last time I installed java.
In terms of performance while editing, probably the i5. i7 would be faster rendering, most likely. Bear in mind that mobility is a bit of a factor as I want to use it for school. I would get a Macbook Pro but those things get too expensive too fast. As for software, think Final Cut Pro, Adobe, that sort of stuff.
I have no idea if it actually matters but the iMac has a dedicated video card.
I have no idea if it actually matters but the iMac has a dedicated video card.
From what I've heard, it also depends on the software you use but don't quote me on it.
is it worth buying a solid state cache drive for a mostly gaming orientated computer?
From what I've heard, it also depends on the software you use but don't quote me on it.
Well I know dedicated video helps with video playback, and I'm sure most software suites support GPU acceleration.
Well I know dedicated video helps with video playback, and I'm sure most software suites support GPU acceleration.
Video playback won't be an issue. That's the impression I'm getting after some googling. For instance: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/intel-hd-graphics-2000-3000_9.html
Well if portability is a factor I'd just say Mac Mini then, unless you have to cart the monitor around as well in which case the iMac would be a tad more convenient
I was wondering if it would be possible to have a self installing script to install programs for whenever I reformat? Kind of like a offline installer.
Something is wrong with my GPU. If I leave my computer running for long periods of time and then try playing a game, I get really bad performance. The GPU usage rises up to 99% but I get only 5-10 FPS. Only a reboot fixes this. Could it be a driver problem?
If you save up $15 more you can get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102967, it's on par with the 6850. From personal experience it's a really good card for the money.
Good to know, I'll check it out. Also I have one more quick question. My computer was going extremely slow, so I looked at the cpu usuage in resource monitor. For some reason the process services.exe (which I thought was a vital process) was using 100 percent of of my cpu. The description was just adobe. My cpu is a phenom II x6 @ 3.2 ghz, so I thought was pretty odd and ended the process. It hasn't come back up since then and I am currently checking for anything like viruses and shit. Is there anything else I should check for?
IIRC AnandTech said the 7770 was more like a 6830 when compared to the 6XXX series
More like between the 6830 and 6850, but closer to the 6850 in most cases.
More like between the 6830 and 6850, but closer to the 6850 in most cases.
is there really a 6830? i'm pretty sure they made it up to just give people a reference point for performance of course if GPU manufacturers numbered their shit logically we wouldn't have this problem
It exists. [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] Same with the 6930.
there's an HD 6830M but no regular one
Pretty sure there is one, there was a short hub-bub about it on techPowerUp when the 6930 benchies/rumors were going around. Usually the 6x30s are a China only release for whatever reason. Also, I don't think the 6830M was actually ever released.
question
Have you tried this? http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Ok, its been 5 or so years since I have last bought a computer monitor. This summer I will be getting a new one, not that the one I have is bad, its just old, and bulky. Has technology improved a considerable amount to move up to a new one? Current one: SyncMaster 941BW 1440x900
Well if portability is a factor I'd just say Mac Mini then, unless you have to cart the monitor around as well in which case the iMac would be a tad more convenient
I've got a 23" monitor at home and there's a few 27" monitors at school to hook it up to. And if those fail or I'm in a classroom that doesn't have em, I can nab one of the puny 13" monitors we have. Granted, piss poor resolution but I won't be doing video editing on those anyway. All I'll need to get extra is a Thunderbolt->VGA adapter. And on a completely unrelated note, I keep going to youtube and watching Dubstep Cat whenever I see one of your posts. I went from a shitty 17" 1280x1024 to a Samsung 24" 1920x1080. Worth every penny.
I went from a 1440x900 monitor to a 23" Dell...somethingorother 1920x1080. I can't ever go back.
Same. Went from a Samsung Syncmaster 1440×900 to a Dell U2311H 23" 1920×1080. Completely worth it! [editline]9th June 2012[/editline] It's funny how many people put the monitor last on the upgrade list, when it's the most important thing imo.
google on my new pc has really been bothering me, all my searches show up as stuff related to what im looking for, like this http://i.imgur.com/IPr6l.png normally, origin and wikipedia and battlefields website would show up, and it's doing this for all of my searches, is there any way to fix this?
Try clearing your web history: http://www.google.com/history
i cleared it all and the same results come up [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] i searched in ie and its fine, so it's something with chrome nevermind i just uninstalled it, last time i synced it with my email so all those dumb results were popping up. Didnt do that this time
Same. Went from a Samsung Syncmaster 1440×900 to a Dell U2311H 23" 1920×1080. Completely worth it! The old one I got still works like new. Its just getting bulky compared to whats out there today (and has a low resolution, 1440x900, compared to new stuff)
I'm kinda looking for a gaming keyboard, preferably it needs to have laptop like keys, any recommendations? I'm going to PC World this afternoon.
