Does anyone know of a good free video editing program?
Lightworks, assuming it's still free
Does anyone know of a good free video editing program?
Here is a few: Avidemux, VirtualDub, AVS Video Editor. Or just use windows movie maker. all the good video Editors are paid and you wont find any free programmes anywhere near as good as the paid ones. I might buy one myself at that price
Virtualdub is awesome once you get all the plugins for it.
Hey guys, new guy trying to build a computer here. Just got my case today(parts wont be here until tomorrow), and I have a few questions that could possibly be answered. Are these "stand-offs"? I've heard about bad things happening if you don't use them. How do you use them? What are these? I know there is some of these inside for cable management, but I don't see the point in it being outside. What's this? It says "USB 3.0" on it. What's this? Connects to my front panel shit, ie power and audio cables Why is this the only dust collector? AND WHY IS IT ON THE BOTTOM?

Screw them into the holes on the motherboard tray and screw your motherboard into them - Those are usually for piping watercooling tubes to a radiator outside of the case - It's a USB3.0 header to USB2.0 header, in case your motherboard doesn't support USB3. - Molex power cable. Only used for fans and LED's these days. - Because that's what your case came with, the bottom one usually filters the PSU's fan so you don't get any dust in it.

I'm pretty new when it comes to building computers and i was wondering, what's the difference between Windows 7 retail and Windows 7 OEM? I've gathered that OEM can install only on one machine but is there any other differences between the two?

Anyone know how I can record sound from my speakers and microphone, like stereo mix, but for an external sound card? Software solution preferred. (I tried using a splitter and line-in but that resulted in very quiet and bassy audio)
OEM is cheaper :v: No but seriously, there's no difference except the activation lock.
Thank you, but i have another question. If i had to reformat, would i have to buy the retail version or could i just use the OEM disc?
two questions: 1) when i restart my computer my pc gets stuck on the bios screen, but when i shut it off and turn it back on it works fine. Why does it do that? 2) after a certain amount of time my computer goes to sleep. I have a wireless usb card. When I turn the pc back on after it falls asleep, the usb networking card no longer works. If I turn the computer off and then back on, it works again. What's the deal? please help
Thank you, but i have another question. You can also usually change parts in the computer, but you'll have trouble re-activating if you swap out the motherboard.

To anyone that's also using motionjoy: So after the update, when I try to enable xbox 360 controller emulation, the controller disappears from the game controllers panel. Anyone else having this issue?
Is there some kind of program that will let me use an irc client (preferably just my mIRC client) inside games? Sometimes I just want to play a game like mount and blade while still being able to see irc without having to alt-tab out...
Steam + mibbit? sorry this is really late
me and my bro want to play diablo but theres no ethernet cables in the basement that are connected to the router, is there a way to directly connect the PC's without needing the router? ...So we can play LAN games
If you're talking about setting up a LAN, the best I have for you (sadly) is LogMeIn Hamachi. It sets up a virtual LAN between anybody that connects to your channel. --- Now, I have a decision. So, would you guys recommend this Or this Rate me rainbow for Phenom II, and rate me artistic for Core2Duo (both will most likely be overclocked past 4 GHz at stable rates)

If so, why?

The phenom would perform better

Especially since the Phenom is a Black edition, you can get to 4GHz with that easily.
I'm getting a new computer because this one is absolute shit, (to give you a tasta, DDR1 2 GB RAM) And I'm on a really tight budget of only +/- $400 And so I'm keeping some things (tower, monitor and pirephrals) and it's just computer-wise. My older bro (making the computer) is getting the Core2Duo. From popular use, I see people using the Phenom II. And so I'm contemplating whether or not I should suggest the Phenom II to my bro and probably seem dumb in front of him, or just stick with the Core2Duo.
The Phenom is better, it can be OCed easily and is quad core, not dual-core. It's also really easy to find a good modern board for AM3 processors, there's no support for LGA775 anymore.
Not unless my mobo stays also...
You'd probably be better off with an i3 2100. The only reason I could see using e8600 would be if he's using older parts. That's just $300, if you reuse everything else (HDD, case, PSU) you could do even better.
The PSU is out of question. Only about 350 watts.
Then throw in any of the decent $50-60 PSU and you're still under $400.
Or this Rate me rainbow for Phenom II, and rate me artistic for Core2Duo (both will most likely be overclocked past 4 GHz at stable rates)
That's very overpriced considering the 775 socket is pretty much dead nowadays.
Just threw that suggestion at him. Awaiting confirmation, or feedback.
Anyone know a decent way of keeping track of printing? I work at a primary school as a IT Tech so theres a insane amount of printing going on day to day, is there a way to keep a log of what is being printed, e.g.: document name, time, username, pages. Or is there a feature in server 2003/08 that I am unaware of?

Sorry, but if your brother is even considering using it for you, fire him. Go with an i3 2100, it will serve you better than either of those. If your motherboard is using DDR1 RAM, chances are it only supports Pentium 4's, so a C2D would require a new(and stupidly expensive because it's so old) motherboard anyways. An i3 would be so much better than either of those options, because if you get a Z77 or Z68 board, you can upgrade to an i7 3770k later.
Hey just curious guys, it's been a while since I've posted in here. I'm going to build a new computer in a month or so, I'm thinking of going with SLI 680's and the i7-3960X (as well as a myriad of other things). Is there anything on the horizon as far as new hardware that I should be aware of?
