How happy would I become, if I upgraded to i5-3570K, Z77 motherboard and 8GB RAM if I wanted good performance (50-60 FPS) in Battlefield 3 on Medium/High? My GPU would be my old GTX 460, which I'm not probably going to upgrade until I either get money for GTX 670 or GTX 660 (Ti) is released. I get about 40-50 FPS in Battlefield 3 on minimum settings with my old setup that has Q6600, GTX 460 and 4GB RAM, 30-40 FPS with almost all settings on High. What kind of a performance boost would I see, if I decided to buy new parts? Or is the game so GPU dependent I wouldn't see much boost at all if I didn't buy a new GPU? [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] I managed to overclock the card to 795 MHz (core) before artifacts started showing up in the game. I remember managing to raise it up to 810-820 MHz without artifacts, though.

I don't know exactly what performance increase you would get, but it would definitely be not insignificant. What resolution are you at?
would my GPU make putting this sound card in this PCI slot a problem? the card kind of bends down a little at the end and I'm wondering if the two cards making contact would be bad for them.
-Snip because I am a fucking retard-
Anyone know a good software that can erase a HDD to factory standard?
would certainly fuck with the airflow.
Ugh, damn card functionally takes up 3 slots, fml. thanks for pointing that out, I overlooked that as I was much more concerned about the physical contact it would probably have. And I don't feel like testing how well a sound card can take being scraped by a spinning fan constantly. edit:
Anyone know a good software that can erase a HDD to factory standard?
Are you talking about just formatting it, or are you looking to wipe all the potential data off of it (so as the data is unrecoverable)? Edit: Actually I might be able to just use my PCI-E slot below it just fine, thanks.
Kind of an oddball question, but i'm trying to access www.synchtube.com, but it's giving me a 504 error. isup.me tells me the site is up, but i still cant access it. Turns out this is a common problem, but the weird thing is i'm not using avast like alot of people say is causing a problem. I'm using MSE, and even if i turn it off, it still doesn't allow me in. Anyone have a solution? I got this working yesterday but i won't work today.

It looks like the site itself is having problems, as I can't access it either (502 Bad Gateway).

http://www.dban.org/ ?? edit: usage steps found here: http://www.wikihow.com/Permanently-Erase-Data-Off-a-Hard-Drive
CCleaner has a wipe functionality under one of the side tabs.
What generation iPod is it?
Sorry for being a bit late; 4th generation.
Sorry for being a bit late; 4th generation.
I'd just get an android phone, lugging two devices around would probably get a little tiresome.

No, it doesn't mess with the airflow much at all, just get some rubber spacers to put in between the cards.
I'd just get an android phone, lugging two devices around would probably get a little tiresome.
What sort of phone would I be going for that are good for web browsing, Steam, Skype and as cheap monthly as possible? (I don't think upfront cost will be much of an issue)
Does something like Textmate exist for Windows?
Does something like Textmate exist for Windows?
Sublime Text 2 is pretty nice, check that out.
Alright, I'm going to get the 3570k and other things I mentioned earlier. I have a problem deciding which motherboard I should buy. ASRock Extreme4 looks good but it's quite pricey for my budget. Should I go for it? [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] Though I'm not sure if I'll be needing SLI so something like Pro4 or Pro3 would be great. [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] Then there are also some boards by Asus. Are they good? [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] I just found Extreme4-M which would be perfect, but I need two PCI ports because I have a Wi-Fi adapter and a soundcard, both using PCI.

You probably won't find a better motherboard cheaper than $100. Also, I have the extreme4m + 3570k and it works great. Oc'd to 4.6 at about 28c idle.
This is driving me crazy. I found the drivers for my Gateway FHX2300 monitor from this site: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=23429&dscr=Gateway%20FHX2300%20Monitor%20Drivers%20Version%20v1.0.0.0&uid=346346355 and it doesn't come with some sort of an installation application or whatever you call it. The zip file has these contents:
I bought an XBOX 360 Controller for my PC and received it today. I installed the Drivers and plugged it in and got a Blue Screen immediately. I've tried un-installing the drivers and installing ones from the Microsoft website and it still won't work giving me the Blue Screen each time. I've got the software off the disk installed now and when it does not give me a blue screen the software fails to receive connection from the controller. What could I do? Google doesn't help one bit. I suspect it could be other software causing the problem? When I plug in the controller it installs something called "motionjoy virtual xinput device". I just have no idea.

It will install it for you.
Which files should I have in that folder?
Which files should I have in that folder?
Just choose the folder that those are in, it will find it and install it for you.
If your monitor is displaying fine don't install any drivers. They usually mess stuff up in my experience.
I got it to install by having windows automatically search for drivers but before I did that, it said there was no better match for what I already had installed when I navigated to the desktop where I unzipped everything. [editline]25th June 2012[/editline]
If your monitor is displaying fine don't install any drivers. DE:HR makes my card artifact and crash at random times, but i'm almost certain it's not the card, because any other DX11 game runs perfectly fine with no problems, anyone know a possible cause here?
