According to benchmarks, the H80 performs equally to the D14.
Show me the benches. I've seen ones where the D14 beats a H100 until you get to ludicrous OCs that you would never use.
I'm also assuming that the H100 is superior to the H80 for this to have any relevance.
Soundcards like that are a complete waste of money.
as opposed to what other kinds of soundcards?
Soundcards are only needed if there's interference with onboard. If there is, you can grab a cheap card like a Xonar DG and it'll suit all your needs fine. Aside from what advertisements tell you, a sound card that costs more money doesn't do anything. You may however need an amp/dac for certain headphones/speakers, but I doubt those speakers would need it. If you wanted a more accurate answer, head over to the headphone megathread, they know their shit about audio (a lot more than I do, anyways)

At about 4 times the noise level.
i just switched from firefox to Google chrome.
What is the best alternative for noscript?
NoScript is terrible, don't use it.
NoScript is terrible, don't use it.
what is useful then?
Firefox artifacts a bit on Windows 8, but everything else works fine. Anyone have any solutions?
"switch to Chrome" is not a solution
what is useful then?
there's no reason to have noscript
I'm having some pretty nasty virus related problems, mostly involving firefox and the virus fucking it's shit up.
Problem is Spybot S+D won't run, and Mbam is going around in circles
Anyone know of a way I could get Spybot to start without the virus noticing, or any good alternative?
Also, does anyone know the name of this one defragging program, it had an old XP styled-block representation of the harddrive as it was defragging which was pretty cool, and it gave some info on the drive too, like how it had spent spun up.
Defraggler
Is there anything better than the Samson Go Mic for the price? I need a stand for it too as I don't want to clip it to myself.
There's the Blue snowball for £50 with stand but I've heard they're overpriced, aswell as the Behringer C-1.
The GoMic is fantastic for it's price. From the reviews online and personally owning one I can tell you that it's pretty damn spiffy for £35.
You can get a stand for it too, it's got a 5mm mounting hole.

I ended up getting a Snowball, I realize it's Apple oriented bollocks and everytime I'd look for a review I'd get some Call of Duty commentator explaining how great it is, but I got a used one for a price that was hard to turn down and despite it being over-recommended, reviews from reliable sources are positive, and it does look the part.
Although I'm also thinking of picking up the Samson aswell for travel and whatnot but I'm undecided, the cute little stand/case you get with it is encouraging me though.
there's no reason to have noscript
I used NoScript for quite a while and uninstalled it accidentally when clearing my extensions, browsing was 20x more enjoyable once removed, common sense and an anti-virus is all you need.
as opposed to what other kinds of soundcards?
Look into external DACs, especially for speakers, I wouldn't use or recommend a soundcard as a serious audio source.
I just bought a new bigger and faster hard drive, would it be better to make it the primary one for my windows and programs, and use my old one to store some files? Also would it be better to record videos onto the hard drive that isn't being used to run the game that is being recorded?

You want your operating system and general, often used programs on your fastest drive, then use the slower one for storage of files that don't benefit from the increased read/random read and spin-up times such as media (and games to an extent).
Just bought 2 SSD drives.
I've been wanting to use one as a boot drive and the other for maybe my laptop or I could Raid them (as a boot drive?)..
I've never Experienced either form.. any help?

They're loud as shit compared to the D14, noctua fans are way better and last longer

Trendmicro housecall is a good bet if you need to find a virus.
will I be ok powering a 560 ti and a 2500k on a 500w psu? It's an OCZ modular one, not some shitty IED
Someone recommend me a cheap color laser printer that accepts cheap aftermarket toner cartridges.

Yes, a 560 Ti/2500k rig won't use more than 350w load.

My bad. The benchmarks I was referring to was the C14.
That said, I found this: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/corsair_hydro_h80/4.htm
At about 4 times the noise level.
According to the link above, medium and high fan speeds perform closely.
I'm running my i7 920 at stock clock at the moment. I want to overclock when I get my H80, but not anything extreme.
Closed liquid coolers don't perform as badly as some people tend to think, they have their own benefits over heatsinks, but if you don't need those benefits then a heatsink will offer better performance for your money, the differences just isn't night and day.
I'd recommend getting two new fans with a closed liquid cooler though as the stock fans always bad, atleast with Corsair.

Thank you for the advice.
Which fans would you recommend?
I currently have my moderately good headphones plugged into the front of my shitty speakers because the speakers have a volume control knob which is very convenient right on my desk. Are the speakers reducing the sound quality I get from my headphones?
^on a similar note
if you have a good soundcard and have speakers plugged into it via rca, if you plug headphones into the speakers control panel (via 3.5mm) will quality be reduced as opposed to directly plugging into the 3.5mm input on the soundcard?

For future reference (in case someone else has this problem), the problem fixed itself when I installed nVidia drivers.

Why would you have those uninstalled to begin with though :v:
trying to overclock my q6600 which is set at a stock 2.4
set multiplier at 8
frequency at 400
pci-e frequency at 100 mhz
1.392ish vcore voltage
aiming for 3.2
I went through this overclock process and after restarting my computer and loading cpu-z, my cpu is still being read as 2.4ghz, although the 'core speed' is at 3200 mhz. What does this mean? Is this supposed to happen? How in the heck do I increase ghz?
Also, I only get the 3200 mhz reading when i run prime95. If it's idle it will lower the multiplier to 6, giving the original speed of 2400 mhz. Is this normal?
And some other questions:
The guides I've been reading bring up 'PCI-e frequency' and 'system memory multiplier.' What are these exactly? How vital are they to overclocking. Are there any other important settings in BIOS when dealing with overclocking?
Sorry if these seem like stupid questions but I'm just now getting into the overclocking game.
If cpu isn't under load, it will be downclocked by bringing down the multiplier to x6. This is Intel's Speedstep. It saves on energy and reduces heat while (near) idle. Put the cpu under load and the multiplier will go back up to normal.
