How would I go about moving around 20gb of music/videos from my laptop to my desktop? Would I be able to compress it to less than 2gb and upload it to my dropbox, then redownload, or would compressing music files kill the quality?
Music files don't really compress (if you're talking zip, rar, gzip, that kind of stuff) much. Just make that foldered networked and connect to it with \\COMPUTER-NAME\folder (make sure you allow your user account or Everyone, or you'll get Access Denied)

You could recompress the MP3s and whatnot at lower settings, losing quality, but you would be able to get it down to 2GB easily. Best option would be to just create a SMB share on your desktop, then copy the files over the network that way. I've done that many times, 20GB takes only hour or so.
I found an old nvidia 5500FX that I used to use back in 2004 or something. The fan is loud, the bitch heats up really hot, and it doesn't work on windows 7. Can anybody think of a use for it, or just throw it away?

Are there any good music services out there that actually sell their music in non-proprietary formats? I've actually been looking around for a service that I'd actually be interested in using, but everything I find (Itunes, Google play, spotify) either streams it, or lets you save it as some bullshit filetype that I have to rip (and probably lose quality) to be able to use in a way that would satisfy me. I'm the kind of guy that likes to save all my media (music/video) in one folder/place, and unless I can find a service that lets me do that, AND play it on the media-player of my choice, I'm not going to bother.

I don't count things that aren't tied down to a single platform in it's default state as proprietary when thinking about audio/video files. When you download a song on Itunes for instance, in it's default state I believe it can only be played with Itunes/apple products, I would call that proprietary. MP3s, FLAC, and things like that would be preferred but not required (I use foobar2000 which can play pretty much anything that isn't tied down to a specific service.)
I think iTunes uses AAC for everything when it can. I'm pretty sure there's a component around the internet that can enable foobar2000 to use AAC. and they made a big advertising deal about ditching DRM aways back. [editline]5th July 2012[/editline] oh so that's what the Audiosurf browser shows up as on Facepunch
Here's a question; should I wait for the Geforce GTX 660 Ti or just get a current GTX 570?
If you just have the stock cooler, almost anything will be better. What shops do you have around you?
Well there's a multirama (http://www.multirama.bg/ It seems its a chain popular in Bulgaria. Can't find any English site or language options) store, technopolis and... that's about it for the big places. There is a lot of little shops run by 3-5 guys and stuff like that. I've had some bad experiences with one... P.S. Sorry for slow reply.
-snap- nvm
Set-up
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium CPU: AMD Phenom Black Edition II X2 3.30GHz RAM: 12GB DDR3 System Type: 64-bit OS GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6950 Twin Frozer II Mother Board: FoxConn A9DA-S - Socket AM3 (938) Sound: Digital Audio HD Display: AOC F22 22" (VGA) and AOC F22 22" (DVI)
Currently have duel core, I want to upgrade to a quad core CPU. What is my best choice of quad core CPU upgrade with my current set-up? Are there/will there be any bottle-necks? Will I need a different motherboard? Lets say I have an "unlimited" budget, just to see my options, but also keep it reasonable :)

But if you've got a decent budget ($300-350) you'll want to grab a 2500k/3570k and a corresponding motherboard to go along with it, which would be a substantial upgrade from your current setup, an aftermarket cooler would also go a long way, again it depends on the budget. Assuming the computer wasn't previously a pre-built, case/powersupply shouldn't need to be replaced but you should list them to be certain, if you don't know what your power supply is then chances are you'll need a new one, same for the case too. You may also want to invest in an SSD, 60gb variants are quite cheap these days and it would go a long way. And regarding the budget, if you really do have an "unlimited" amount of funds for the upgrade, you'll want to specify your needs for the computer and upgrade your processor/motherboard based on those needs, rather than spending money on power/features you won't use for the sake of it just because you have the opportunity to do so.

Is this/has it been previously a pre-built?
[img_thumb]http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a345/ajackss/stuffs-1.jpg?t=1341494360[/img_thumb] After a ton of revisions I think I'm starting to settle into a setup. Anyone have experience with the Samsung 830 SSD line? Also I think I'm going to be putting the door off my HAF932 onto the HAF X since I can cool the GPU's better with the old door.
Yes it would fit, I'm going to assume your uses are gaming and general computing right? Is this/has it been previously a pre-built?
Yes, its main use is for gaming, and the computer was custom built.

Have you also considered going for a RAID SSD setup? Might be worth the thought, and christ, 64gb of RAM? I'm not going to lie and say that I know anything about the line of work you're in, but 64gb seems excessive for anything, tell me if I'm wrong though. And on that budget, considered liquid cooling? Or are you just not wanting to bother?

The thing is I don't ever plan on watercooling and so my favorite choice, the 800D, is out of the question since it's not an efficient air cooler, and even with modifications its still just average. I'd like something perfect and simple but I don't really care to shell out $400 for a nice Lian Li. I'm totally open to case suggestions though, I want a full tower with exceptional air cooling. I don't care about weight and windowless would be a plus to me. I'd be happiest with the Lian Li PC-V2120X to be honest, it's just $300 above the HAF and I have a hard time choosing something that expensive when it just sits under my desk.

I was seriously looking at that but with tri-sli it looks like it's going to be quite cramped, and I don't think it fits E-ATX.
Interesting, anyone have experience with the COSMOS II?
BRT bought one, from what I can gather from reading snippets, he had a lot of issues with it.
