I'm having trouble downloading a linux distro from my friend, he gave me the magnet link and it won't work, whenever I paste it into my browser it just does a google search.

Google the distro and download it there?

That's not working, I don't think it was actually uploaded to any other site.

I'm looking for an adapter that can either convert VGA from my monitor into DVI-D (Dual Link) or HDMI, or from DVI-A into HDMI or DVI-D (Dual Link)
I'm in the UK, so I need a UK site. Can anyone find something for me? I've been looking around and can't seem to find any.
If that didn't make sense, I have a VGA monitor (and also a VGA to DVI-A adapter for it) and need to connect either of those to an HDMI or DVI-D Dual Link output on my PC.

I think you mean you want a DVI-VGA adapter, because those usually come with the GPU.

Hey, that works by me! And for a penny you can't go wrong.
Thanks!

That sounds like a horrible time.
i didn't choose the event or the purveyors, but i recently found an addiction to hardstyle and the artist playing there had some of the best music i have ever heard. this thread had a video of him playing. i'm trying to find his name.
I need a mic for PC gaming. My budget is $60. Was gonna ask in the headphones thread, but that doesn't really sound right.
ModMic,
ModMic,
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Lately Google Chrome has been weird. The taskbar has two google chromes instead of one.

I have tried re-installing, deleting user info, etc. But it always does this when I open it. Why doesn't it conform with the rest of the pc?
After not getting a reply here I googled it. Turns out someone else had the same issue. After trying every solution offered to him/her one of them finally worked.
For anyone experiencing the same issue just right-click the duplicate icon and pin to taskbar. Then unpin the original. It won't make duplicates anymore! I don't know why it does this in the first place, but it works!
Anyone smarter than me have any idea whats wrong with my dads pc?
It keeps shutting down a few seconds after turning it on.
Odd thing is, yesterday i got it running just fine for a couple of hours, but after turning it off and trying to turn it on the next day, BAM. Does the same shit. Sometimes i get to the desktop, sometimes not even into the "Windows loading" screen.
Changed the thermal compound, tried with a different powersupply, replugged everything... Same results.

I'll post the specs in the morning if they're any help.
Same problem my dad computer has. The problem is massive amounts of porn.
But seriously, it could be any number of problems. Does it shut off or does it actually give you a blue screen with errors?
God fucking dammit this pisses me off
So I'm trying to install Windows, but it keeps installing in 32-bit mode. This makes it just completely useless, since the machine's got 12GB of RAM and some of the hardware doesn't even have 32-bit drivers.
Am I just retardedly missing the option for "install 64-bit" during installation, or is my install disk 32-bit-only for some equally-retarded reason?
It's probably 32-bit only. If it's not, you would have to choose what version to use.

If you want to go above budget a tiny bit then this http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphones-Snowball-Microphone-White/dp/B000EOPQ7E is also a great mic. Better quality than the modmic, but if it's just for gaming purposes then the modmic will be fine.
OK then, next question: what's the fastest download link for a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 install .iso? Non-cracked - I have a legit key (it's a brand-new machine), but I don't want to burn the six recovery DVDs it insists is needs (because Asus can't be assed to include a $0.15 DVD with their $1500 laptops, the fuckers). I found one download, but it's crawling at ~100KB/s right now, and I'm not waiting nine fucking hours for this.
Microsoft has links out there that lets you download it straight from their site with maximum speeds for free.
You want this
http://www.mostiwant.com/blog/download-windows-7-sp1-integrated-dvd-iso-official-direct-download-links/
http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65733/X15-65733.iso
that is vista, way to go
That's where I'm downloading it from.
Although I tried your link (it's slightly different - think it's SP1), and it seems to be going a bit faster (~2MB/s), so thanks.
The ones I posted were with SP1 already in it, yeah. No problem.
Which one do I trust? Also no idea how it went up to 67c since I haven't played any game today. I'm worried, should I reset my OC?
I'd trust Core Temp. I don't have any experience with Sandy Bridge overclocking so I'm not really sure whether or not your vcore is too high. If you're temps make you uncomfortable, then you should bring down the overclock. It's up to you.

Shut off, no blue screen.
Oh fucking hell, what the dick is this?
I come back, my computer decided to sleep in the middle of the download. It resumes, it's going 50KB/s and will take until noon tomorrow to finish. Now I try to restart it, and it's crawling at 50-100KB/s still. The exact link that was doing ten times that speed before.
Seriously, I have a 20Mb/s connection, I should not be getting dial-up speeds here. And it seems to just be that site - I tried some quick garrysmod.org downloads, they work fine.

Okay, alternative question: if I download an Ultimate ISO, would my Home Premium key work (and install it as HP - I'm honestly not trying to steal an upgrade here)?
Nope. You have to use the correct version.
Hi, I have a problem, and Technical support seems to be dead (except for guests)
So, I have very limited spade on my SSD. And I keep my Team Fortress 2 on a USB so I can just re-install it with all of my saved maps and skins and whatnot.
And when the time comes to re-install it, I cannot drag-n-drop the TF2 folder into my hornysheep folder. When I do, it just does nothing. So, I have to send it to desktop in WinRAR to compress it, then excract it to the folder.
Running Windows 7 Ultimite 32-bit.
Edited:
Alright, so after I did everything, and the whole file is there, now Steam won't recognize that TF2 is already there.
[t]http://puu.sh/Hz8G[/t]
Even restarting Steam, or putting it there while Steam was closed didn't work.
Run TF2 and it will find the files.
Edit: Did you copy the .gcf files too?
