i pronounce it warez myself
People who work with old Apple computers may know of this. but i'm looking for the name or a photo of a certain really old apple demo disk. The CD itself had red text on it, with a yellow star like design and is full of demos of games such as Escape velocity, Exile, Grizzly, System's Twilight and more. It's fairly old, it's from around, if not older than 2000 (the Macintosh machine i played it on had a label on it that said "apple PowerPC" so it may have come with the PC itself.) It had some other software on it, and had a intro movie with a catchy tune on it - so far Google yielded no results.
i want your guys opinion on this website i found:http://pcpartpicker.com
Is "Warez" pronounced "Wheres" or "Where-ehz"? Because it just occurred to me that it might not be "Where-ehz".
it's where-zed obviously
Asus AI Suite is warning about CPU temperatures rising up to 70C. Should I be worried? The temperature seems to stay in that level. Here I played Battlefield 3 a little. Also, I'm getting some stuttering, even though Fraps says my framerate is over 60. I'm just wondering what could cause this. The framerate has been fine before, and I never got these temperature warnings.

Intel CPU can usually handle higher heats than AMD. The stuttering in battlefield is probably a pagefile / RAM issue. That said, it's still hot. Just not too hot to really be a problem (assuming Intel). There's probably a contact issue with the heatsink and it needs to be cleaned and reapplied.
Whenever I rename/move/create files or folders in win explorer, I get this But when I click Try Again it does it just fine. This has been going on for a week or two now I have an SSD and a RAID5 array and it happens on both, any idea what's going on?
My secondary monitor is making a hissing noise when it turn it on that slowly builds in pitch. But other wise works fine. Anyone know what might be causing that? I don't really want to turn it on if it keeps making that noise. Edit: It is no longer displaying anything.

My guess is some electronic component is building up energy and somehow causing the noise. Turning it on lets the energy flow releasing the build up and stopping the noise.

Hey guys, so I've been having a problem with my PC for the past few months. The problem is every time I run games on my computer, a couple times a week, it looks like my entire PC "crashes". Like, while I'm playing some game, the screen goes black all of a sudden and the monitor acts like its not connected (like the green light on my monitor which means on just turns orange, which means the opposite). However, my desktop is still running and the fans are running probably around 80% speed. I have a HD 5770 and I used to think this was a driver problem. Every time I would update to a new driver for the video card, this would be more frequent, so I just revert back to 11.12. And now even on 11.12, the problem still persists. The short version is I'm puzzled and I don't know if it might be the video card overheating, memory problems, or something with the video card itself. I'm pretty sure it's not dust either because I just cleaned most of that out from the inside a couple weeks ago. Any ideas, FP?

I'm not so sure it's an overheating issue because my GPU temps get up to about 70C and my CPU temps get up to 50C before my problems occur.
My question is regarding Linux. I'm very new to it so keep in mind I do not know anything really about it. Anyways, I got my Raspberry Pi today and put Debian "Squeeze" on it. I've gotten use the the desktop and all. I went back to my humble bundle games and downloaded VVVVVV (.deb). I double clicked it, nothing happened, and now theres a shortcut in my games for VVVVVV. When I click it nothing happens. Help?
I raise this question again.
How intuitive would compiling a server operating system and HTTP responder be; having strict input processing and modulated flow in mind. Development begins at a kernel level, yes?
Snip.
I recommend this to everyone: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166056&Tpk=Rosewill%20N180UBE I get fantastic signal and bandwidth.
Just arrived today. Already better connectivity than the 60$ netgear. It doesn't have a nice control panel though, so no idea how I change what channel/frequency it uses. For 20$ though I am happy with it. The giant antenna does kind of freak me out.
I raise this question again.
Open a terminal and type "vvvvvv" (ALL LOWERCASE). Tell us what it prints out.
I've been meaning to get a new monitor for quite some time. I've actually been using a sony bravia TV as a monitor for about 4 years and it's DEFINITELY time to get a replacement. If at all, is there a significant difference in game-play visuals between PC monitors and TVs? What do you use? As for size and aspect ratio what would you recommend? PC World has a pretty good sale on TVs/monitors at the moment, do you think I should just go down there and pick the best one which suits me? What budget do you have for a monitor?
What budget do you have for a monitor?
anywhere between £100-300. And thanks for the help on the motherboard/cpu post. I went for an i7 2600K and asus P8Z77 in the end. Forgot to mention, I do watch TV alot, that's why I was pursuaded to go for a TVmonitor. I also do a lot of AutoCAD work/gaming so a tilt screen would be ideal.

What size screen? If you want a good 24", I would say dell ips. And it has a 1920 x 1200 resolution. My next investment is going to be the 30" one. The dell might be good, because I know how blinding autocad can be after hours of work, and the dell has great colors, viewing angles, and tilts. ~£225 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Ultrasharp-U2412M-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B005LNDPPS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342205571&sr=8-1 If you want bigger, you can get a 27" inch led tn panel for about the same price.

My desk is pretty small. As for aspect ratio? Does it really matter between 16:10 and 16:9? and ms response times? I've been so used to a TV I barely notice any difference.

You probably won't notice a difference with response times, but perhaps someone here can help clarify. I've used a lot of different monitors and haven't really noticed. Also, autocad is lame, use inventor :) http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150809
The aspect ratio should be at the bottom of your priorities, response time below 10ms is indistinguishable for most, above that still remains fine for the majority.
Sounds like a power supply failure Don't try fix that yourself, RMA.
Its 6+ years old and no longer in production so I doubt LG will do anything about it. On the bright side, it appears to be working again. It was oddly coincidental timing too since I just got a new primary monitor last week.

Also, I'm stuck with AutoCAD (not a bad thing honestly), it's basically industry standard in scenery construction.

The ability to make and see parts in 3d is twice as productive. The drawings export in whatever autocad uses nowadays (dxf, dwg?). It's only a couple more thousand than inventor.

We use AutoCAD, Lighting people use WYSIWYG, which is CAD file compatible. Generally we save as a PDF, to give to designers etc. You can still peel back layers, if you've made it right in CAD in the first place
I have a really dumb question, "speccy safe?" I've heard great things about it but someone had told me it was malware or something like that. Is this true?
