I have a really dumb question, "speccy safe?" I've heard great things about it but someone had told me it was malware or something like that. Is this true?
Whoever told you Speccy is malware, is an idiot.
Whoever told you Speccy is malware, is an idiot.
Okay thanks man.
Got another question for you all. Apple-related this time. At work, we have an AirPort Express hooked up to some speakers, so we can play whatever music we want (via AirPlay). Works fine for all the guys using Macs, but I'm on a Windows system right now (going to make it a dual-boot Windows/Linux system this weekend). I refuse to install iTunes. I dislike it as a media player, and it insists on restructuring all your music folders in a way I also do not at all like. However, there seem to be few other options. I have tried qTunes - it does not pick up the AirPort. I have tried axStream - it always breaks with "error recording from sound card" - and I can't figure out why. Airfoil is too expensive for something so simple. Are there any other (free) options for streaming to an AirPlay device from Windows, or am I stuck in silence (or iTunes, which is worse)? PS: Has anybody used AirPlay under Linux? I'm told PulseAudio can stream to it, but I'm not sure how easy or effective that is.
Somebody has that thing what adds the Require Ownership thingy? I would love it right now.
Still no replies? Please, I would love to have that. Google didn't tell me anything, maybe I just suck at googling but it gave me everything else but the thing I need.
Just arrived today. Already better connectivity than the 60$ netgear. It doesn't have a nice control panel though, so no idea how I change what channel/frequency it uses. For 20$ though I am happy with it. The giant antenna does kind of freak me out.
The router usually dictates the channel, unless it's set to auto channel, in which case they both find one. Unless it's a dual-band router. I like the antenna looks fine for me.

That second part I don't know how to adapt to Linux since I don't use VLC under Linux. Weirdly, I don't seem to have a virtual audio device listed. Not a big deal - I don't normally use VLC, but it's not bad - but is there any easy way to get that? I have some sort of VIA audio device, if that helps.
I think my games are using the shitty on board intel graphics card instead of the 7570m/7670m I had put in by the manufacturer. What makes me think this is that Deus Ex only had an option to use the intel one and fucking TERRARIA slowed down when played fullscreen. Both cards are enabled in the device manager. Any ideas? [editline]13th July 2012[/editline] EDIT: It's a Sony VAIO E series, if that matters.
So any help with my problem at the top of the page?
I've had that same problem too, and it stopped when I got a new computer all together :v: But anyways, I'm going twoards motherboard. Because I've used 2 different GPU's, and the problem still persisted. Anyways, I have my own question. Are these normal temps? I just played Skyrim in Medium settings, and I did the most demanding things that I could think of and quickly do while maintaining at 60 FPS.

No seriously that's what the program's called :v:

How do you know which .exe is running from? Disk monitor tells nothing, I'm using Windows 7 and I use an SSD. I've been trying to get it to run from my D:\ drive which has a lot more space and I don't want to shorten the life of my SSD.

There's a property "Location" that tells you were the process' executable is located.

What I've been trying to do is relocate the Minecraft folders elsewhere, because I'd kill my SSD if I keep playing it from the C: drive.
Just tried to copy files from one NTFS drive to another via a Ubuntu live CD, and it worked fine for the most part, but two folders gave a permission denied error, any tips on how to fix this? And I can't do it via windows cause one of the drives is IDE and I dont have an install for that mainboard.
I have acquired a Windows XP Home Edition installation disc. However, on the disc, it says "For distribution with a new PC only. For product support, contact the manufacturer of your PC." Does this just mean it's an OEM disc? Will it work?
Is WinZip legit?
Is WinZip legit?
Yes, but paid, and there's much better alternatives. I recommend 7zip: http://www.7-zip.org/

It is safe. Just shit. Use WinRAR or 7-Zip.
Okay thanks guys.
So the free/evaluate version isn't safe is what you're saying?
Sure it's safe, but not many people still use WinZip as far as I know. Most people use 7zip or the apparently never-ending trial version of WinRar. [editline].[/editline] Ninja'd
Does anyone have the name of that program that lets you cordon off your desktop icons?
Does anyone have the name of that program that lets you cordon off your desktop icons?
Fences?

I got WinZip with my motherboard but why would I ever use that
So I had that useless GPU on my table collecting dust. With a blown capacitor and 4 okay ones I might add. So today I heard strange bzzzttttt sound. Me using headphones that time couldn't pinpoint the source. I assumed it was my motherboard capacitor which had been fat for a time. Looked in the case. Nothing. It was intact, no burn smell, no anything. Continued with my daily stuff. Now 10 minutes ago something blew up. Loud *pop* noise. So I completely open the case. Look around. Checking all caps. Nothing broken. Nothing blown up. Puzzling. I assembled the case. Was waiting for it to boot up. Meanwhile fiddled around with my stuff on table. Looked at my old gpu on the table. It now had 2 blown capacitors. I'm paranoid. Can they blow up spontaneously without power or anything ?
