So I had that useless GPU on my table collecting dust. With a blown capacitor and 4 okay ones I might add.
So today I heard strange bzzzttttt sound. Me using headphones that time couldn't pinpoint the source. I assumed it was my motherboard capacitor which had been fat for a time. Looked in the case. Nothing. It was intact, no burn smell, no anything. Continued with my daily stuff.
Now 10 minutes ago something blew up. Loud *pop* noise. So I completely open the case. Look around. Checking all caps. Nothing broken. Nothing blown up. Puzzling.
I assembled the case. Was waiting for it to boot up. Meanwhile fiddled around with my stuff on table. Looked at my old gpu on the table. It now had 2 blown capacitors.
I'm paranoid.
Can they blow up spontaneously without power or anything ?
Was the table inside a microwave?
You sure you showed disabled devices in Sound Properties? Stereo Mix is disabled by default. Otherwise, Virtual Audio Cable. No seriously that's what the program's called :v:
(We hashed this out via PM, but posting this so nobody wastes their time helping me when I don't need it)
Yeah, that worked. Or at least, it seems to. Will still need to wait until Monday to see if it works with an actual AirPort.
I think my games are using the shitty on board intel graphics card instead of the 7570m/7670m I had put in by the manufacturer. What makes me think this is that Deus Ex only had an option to use the intel one and fucking TERRARIA slowed down when played fullscreen. Both cards are enabled in the device manager. Any ideas?

EDIT: It's a Sony VAIO E series, if that matters.
Anybody?
I did some more looking and for some reason Primary Display Adapter doesn't show up in the BIOS at all. I've checked multiple times and I've looked all over the settings, and not a single mention of display adapters, so I can't disable the onboard so I can start using the better one.
I have acquired a Windows XP Home Edition installation disc. However, on the disc, it says "For distribution with a new PC only. For product support, contact the manufacturer of your PC." Does this just mean it's an OEM disc? Will it work?
Yeah, it's OEM. If it's a new disc, it'll work with no problems. If it's used, then you might have to call Microsoft to activate it.
For some reason Windows Explorer is refusing to acknowledge that I've double clicked on something. Not every time, mind, but it's been happening for some reason.
I want to say the problem gets worse with the more CPU I use but I don't have enough data to prove that yet.
It's not trying to load, because if I hit Enter with the thing selected, it gets to work instantly (and usually if I double click again it works fine). It's not my mouse, because I can double click perfectly fine in Steam and other programs.
Halllo thar, does anyone know of any FREE software that will allow me to crop a video? Not as in take bits off the start and end, but cut parts of the frame out (I was capping a video, but accidently capped my whole screen rather than just the bit with the camera, and I want to crop it out.
Whats a good quality NIC for cheap?
Under 15€, PCI
or atleast what company makes good ones.
Whats a good tool to copy files from one hard drive to another, preferably bootable from an USB stick, I tried Ubuntu cause i had a disk lying around, but it failed at a few file permissions.
I have two different models of graphics card, both nVidia however.
Can I put both in my system at the same time and have one card running one monitor and the other running another monitor?
A few months back, my gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R died
I've now moved everything onto a GA-G31M-S2L
Because the chipset on the S2L is lower end, how much of a performance hit would there be in games like BF3 compared to a P35 chipset?

ill be upgrading my computer shortly to have an ssd, new mobo/processor
will i need to get a new copy of windows as well??
i5 is Fine.
Is the OS coming with any service packs?
Shouldn't matter, but what's the hertz on the monitor?
Video card is fine.
HDD is fine.
RAM is fine.
CD/DVD burner will be convenient.
Oh, this is a laptop
The games will work really well with your setup, and word documents shouldn't be a problem.

if you have the correct expansion slots and a suitable PSU then yes (assuming they're both pci-e cards)
but I don't know why you would want to when one card will support at least two monitors
Why does my internet become drastically slow during the nighttime but goes fast during the daytime? Is this my ISP or am I causing this somehow?

Yea, they are throttling you during peak times.

I'm pretty sure you can do that with VirtualDub.
EDIT: It might only let you do a centered crop though, since it's basically made for ripping movies.
EDIT: Actually, you can specify offsets.

EDIT: Or you can use FormatFactory

Is that even allowed?
I dont know, how about you read your contract

That should run Killing Floor quite well.
The rest I don't know, never having played them myself.

or buy a DVI cable for that monitor would be the best solution
Still no replies about the Request Ownership thingy on Windows?
I really want to delete some files but it won't let me because of the TrustedInstaller thingy on Windows. Those files are from my old Vista install. Would like to get rid of them without searching for my Linux CD or formatting the partion.

i'm already using one dvi-i adapter for the monitor I'm using now, but the other two need to go into various digital outputs and obviously that doesn't work with a VGA source
Actually DVI does have Analog versions as well, don't know what you've got on your device
Actually DVI does have Analog versions as well, don't know what you've got on your device
that's what i'm saying, i've plugged one DVI-I (which is converted from VGA) into the only DVI-I on the card, but the HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI-D ports on the card are all digital.
DisplayPort to VGA adapter
DisplayPort to VGA adapter
Wouldn't I need an expensive active adapter to change VGA to DisplayPort?
