I'm thinking of doing a (major) upgrade with my computer, and I'm wondering if I'm going to run into any kind of problems if I pretty much replace everything except the hard drive and the RAM. I know upgrading video cards alone doesn't usually cause any issues, but will I have to reformat or re-install Windows or something if I get a new motherboard and CPU? It'd still be an Intel CPU but it'll be a different socket (1156 to either 1155 or 2011; not sure yet because I don't have an exact budget yet to work with). I was hoping to be able to just put my hard drive into the new rig and have it run smoothly, but I want to be sure before attempting it and being disappointed.

Just reinstall and save yourself headaches.

Is there a way to remove a steam game update from the download queue, like deleting a temporary file or something? I can't use delete local content cause I dont want the games uninstalled.

I've found a Dell Precision 670, right now it only has 1gb of DDR2 200mhz ram (PC2-3200R), I can't find more ram of the same type but I do have 2 sticks of PC2-6400. Would they work anyway? Thanks in advance

What are some good 13 inch laptops? I'm hoping to use Linux as a primary OS and do a bit of music production. I was looking at the Dell XPS 13 but I'm not sure, there are some big drawbacks.

I really don't want to spend weeks re-downloading all of my steam games if I re-install and would rather just buy a cheap hard-drive to avoid re-downloading millions of things.

Alright, I need a bit of help. i want to use mouse keys, but I don't want to use the number pad. I'd like to use the J, I, K, and L keys to control my mouse. Is there any way to do this? I googled but couldn't find anything.

I'm getting pissed at my ATI card. I've been getting this for awhile, but everytime I boot up, try to run the Catalyst control, or update my drivers, I get these errors: "MOM.implementation” or “CCC.implementation". The install also always fails when I try updating. Does anyone know what the virus that's in the latest version of Coretemp does? Also, does anyone else here use Plusnet and get redirected to the "BTWholesale" page when trying to view sites sometimes? It only happens on certain sites on certain PC's (seems to be the most visited site on the pc).

So i need to find a new laptop. My needs are for something that runs 3ds max very well (not worried about rendering) and play newer games at decent settings. I've looked through a number of Asus lines, and i've heard good things about them but im trying to push the price down below 1000$.

Make sure you have good cooling because the temp will rise the higher you increase the voltage.

Does anyone know of a plugin for any browser that would allow me to duplicate a tab without it refreshing or recontacting the server to create the duplicate? I just want it to make a duplicate of what it already has loaded in the webpage.
