Definitely.
Okay I bought a EVGA GTX 670 and installed fine and drivers and everything, but something worries me: Temps don't show up on speccy ,should i be worried?
No, speccy can't read all cards.
Figured this didn't need a thread - I'm looking for some advice on cost to performance ratios. Right now I'm shopping for a laptop for college, and I'm trying to decide between two or three different computers. I'm on a budget, so I'm fairly limited.
Information to preface this: This is going to be a college laptop, mainly used for typing papers, listening to music, and browsing the internet. Possibly some light gaming, but I have a stationary PC for that.
First is the Dell Inspiron 15R, which seems nice for its price, but it seems a bit too good to be true? The third generation i5 has Ivy Bridge, and it boasts 6 GB of RAM, but I feel like it'll fall apart instantly because they packed so much hardware in and cut costs on the casing. I'm looking at the $500 model and the $549 model.
Second (or third, I guess) is this Lenovo IdeaPad I stumbled across on Newegg. It has a second gen i3 (so no Ivy Bridge), which I don't really mind, and only 4 GB of RAM (again, something I don't mind because RAM is cheap as hell and I can upgrade it if need be). However, it's a lot lighter (4 pounds to the Inspiron's 6). Additionally, it's all metal casing, which a lot of people say is really sturdy. Also, I really don't mind the discrete graphics (Radeon 6470M) - it actually surprised me.
So Facepunch, what do?
I know I keep asking here but I'm definitely ordering tomorrow morning and just want a couple more opinions.
Reference MSI GTX 670: £290
XFX Double D 7950: £270 (with three free games I'm not bothered about)
I'm really worried about noise levels, I've heard these reference 670s are quite noisy idle and I can't afford an aftermarket one, and if I get the 7950 I can get some more RAM because RAM is cool.
So I'm going to be building a new PC from scratch in the coming months and I had a question about gameplay performance and recording depending on what's installed where.
I currently have a samsung spinpoint HDD, which stores 500GB and has been in use for 3 years and one month. I'm going to be buying a 1TB caviar black to go alongside this harddrive and I was wondering, how should I set it up for FRAPS? Because FRAPS doesn't like to record to the same harddrive as the OS + game are on, so should I install windows and games on the 1TB HDD and record to the old 500GB, or vice versa? I don't know what to do about that.
I can't figure out how to port foward with my new wireless router. I have the MediaLink MWN-WAPR150N.
Here's my internal IP which is usually needed:

External IP:

Next, I head to the router's page of 192.168.0.1 and head over to the virtual server side:

Apply and reboot the router.

I'm pretty sure the router won't let you connect to your own external IP address. You'll have to check from another network.

Reinstall/update the drivers, otherwise get a new one.
Sorry bud.

Unless you just meant the range? in that case there are a few things you can try, foil is one of them. Though I could never bring myself to put a big foil dish on my WAP even if it increased the range.
Does anyone know if the GTX 670 is particularly noisy?
[editline]3rd August 2012[/editline]
Or any thoughts about it at all?
Uhm its noisy if there is a loud fan so uhm which one
"MSI GeForce GTX 670 2GB PhysX CUDA"
TwinFrozr? OC? Or just the default black box?
OC
If it's this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127675 then when the fan ramps up it gets pretty fucking loud. I have a Fractal XL case which is supposed to be pretty good at suppressing noise, but shit it sounds like a turbine when I play anything intensive.
Is vertical sync worth having on? I noticed its an option in the video settings for a lot of the games Ive been playing lately. My mobo supports it, but a lot of people say you shouldn't even bother on with it. So I just wanted your guy's opinion on it.
Also for multi-core settings if you do have multiple cores is it better to have that on or off? I'm sorry if these questions sound stupid, I'm new to pc gaming.
V-sync should only be enabled if you're experiencing screen tearing. Otherwise, just leave if off.

Some games have issues with VSync, too. I know for example Dead Space had mouse problems if you had Vsync turned on (or off, I'm not sure).
Why does v-sync force mouse acceleration anyway? I remember BRT explaining a while back but I can't remember, it completely ruins it for me.
Im thinking of adding another 6870, so I have 2 in crossfire, but I think I will probably replace my dodgy PSU first. Does anyone have any recommendations of a good modular(I may be willing to go non modular) 850w (or more, how much should I have for 2 6870's and possibly and i7 in the future?).
tl;dr: Suggestions for 850w or more PSU for 2 6870s and maybe an i7?
Crossfire 6870s used 420 max (http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-6850-6870-crossfirex-review/4) and an overclocked i7 would use like 150 max. I would think a 650w would be enough.
Look at the corsair hx series, or ax if you have the cash.
I ran two 6870s on a 450w with a 1090T without issues, anything over 500w will be fine but 650w is usually preferred just for effeciency's sake, components are using less and less power yearly so getting higher wattage for upgrading later on is just flawed logic, unless you plan on getting three/four high-end cards which is a bad idea anyway.
Basically get a good 650w and you'll be set for years, 650w is plenty for even SLI GTX 680s.
Also Quikkill, that's 420w including the i7 965, two 6870s on load use 270w.
Coolermaster are good quality right? Im looking at this.
This OCZ one also looks good.
I'm getting a new keyboard, mouse and headset soon. I've got the mouse and headset decided, they don't matter. I can't however, decide on the keyboard.
I preferably want a keyboard with CherryMX Black keys and backlighting, preferably red or any shade of red or a changeable colour.
I was thinking of getting the Razer Anansi because I play quite a few MMO's but it's dome keys not mechanical. So something with macro's would be nice.
I can spend up to about £100/$160 on a keyboard.

Be quiet! 630w L8 is a great option, modular, reviewed well, affordable, natively supports dual cards, silent, looks quite good, more than enough power for you.

If you want build quality, Filco is in your budget and would be the best choice, if you want backlighting and additional keys look at the Corsair mechs or possibly a quickfire rapid.
the K90 is quite nice, but it's a shame it's not got red backlighting and cherrymx black keys to it.
It's difficult to be picky when it comes to mechanical keyboards, there isn't that large of a selection that offer backlighting as the common mechanical user touch types and is in the market for a good typing experience rather than rice, there are some chinese ones like the KBC race boards that come in a variety of colours but they're usually a little difficult to get hold of short of importing.
