Kingston 128GB V200 SSD vs Samsung 830 128GB
Kingston 128GB V200 = £50
Samsung 830 128GB = £77
is the 830 worth £27 more than the Kingston v200?

I want to update my graphics card due to the proposed release of several new games (Most namely Rome II: Total War) and I was wondering where it is best to go from my current card.
Right now I am using an AMD Radeon HD 6870 card, which is apparently pretty good. But I fear by next year it will be obsolete. What is a card that isn't too expensive that I can upgrade too?

If it's just for Rome, then don't upgrade. Do it closer to its release, your card might (probably) will be able to run it at max at 1080p.
Also, nearer its release date there will be lower costs for the same performance.

Yes
So I doing a little bit of an upgrade / replacement in my PC.
I am going to be doing crossfire 6870's and possibly an i7 in the future.
I am changing my PSU to this. (Is this a good PSU and suitable for crossfire 6870's?)
I am also changing my ram to this. (Is this good quality / value?)
Also, I was just wondering. Is there any difference between SATA connections on different PSU's? Or is there just a standard and SATA means SATA? Because I saw some specify "5 pin SATA" or something. Do I need to worry about getting the right SATA power connectors? Or do I not need to worry?

Too late
I bought the Kingston SSD, at that price i couldn't resist clicking the buy now option, also im only gonna be using for a boot drive with a few programs along side it so a least it's gonna be better than my current hdd
Thanks doe
I didn't want to make a thread in technical support so I'll just ask here. I opened a .lnk with notepad because I thought it was a txt document I changed to .lnk so I could rename it back later but when I opened it, all my icons on my desktop turned into notepad icons. Is there any way to change it back? Everything opens up the text document even though its named to the regular program (Like if I clicked gmod on my desktop it opens up the document I opened earlier)

So I need some help.
A few days ago I bought an EVGA GTX 670 and it has worked amazingly these past days but today while playing Payday the heist it freezes the PC for a while and showed a black background and some red dots and rectangulars and shit while a weird noise was heard (not sure if from PC or just ingame sound looping)
Is this an issue with NVIDIA beta drivers or could my card be faulty/dying?

Try using stable releases? Use Driver Fusion to get rid of all of the beta drivers and install normal ones.

Kingston have some of the lowest performing SSDs. Samsung's are the best right now.
how trustworthy is an open-box purchase from Newegg, specifically GPUs
I don't want the connector to be sawed off or some shit

I don't want to put a damper on your night, but after buying the same card the other day, it started doing what you're experiencing, a day later it's completely broken and on its way back to EVGA now, I tried every driver available and just about every fix. It worked flawlessly for a day, started artifacting the next (and crashing drivers/black screens) and now it's a dud. What's your S/N number? Your box will have a sticker on it with barcode and S/N, it could be a bad batch.

Very trustworthy, open box anything is usually just a product a customer returned for reasons other than it being faulty.
In the market for a new gaming rig, here is what I've thrown together.

What are your thoughts on this setup?
Looks like you're overpaying for the RAM and power supply, and if this is for gaming, if you got 8gb RAM, something like a 550-650w power supply and a 3570k, you could get a GTX 670 and possibly an SSD in budget.

I read a review of those Kingstons and apparently back a few months ago when they first came out they had some kind of firmware problem. Now it's fixed, but of course time marches on, so Kingston has to sell them at low cost in order to attract buyers. So you benefit from that. They aren't the fastest SSDs around, but you can't argue with the price.
Question about the rumored GTX 660:
Is it worth holding out for it? I've heard that there's some flaws reported with it, but if the benchmarks look good, should I (or anyone else for the matter) get one?

This is the serial
Mine is: 12106032670602270
Extremely similar, looks like it may be the same batch of cards, I'd start the RMA process and see what happens, might save you a few days if it is faulty.

Well you were right. Card just died. Where do I do this rma thing?
http://www.evga.com/support/
You'll need to register the card via S/N, upload your invoice then create a ticket with your issue, they got back to me within a day, explain that it's completely dead and they'll give you a ticket number to RMA it with.
My friend is having issues with his computer. I posted about this about 2 days ago. My friends computer shuts off immediatley after powering on. (I'm sure you've all experienced this at one point). However, this is trickier because he's already rma'd the Mobo, the cpu, and tried a different power supply, all without fixing it. The power supply is a Corsair 650W, and it's an i3 560ti computer, so it has plenty of power. He's trying to swap the RAM around and such right now, but if that doesn't work, we'll be really confused.
I'm getting no sound on Youtube videos only using Chrome, other browsers are fine?

Obvious one, but have you tried clearing the CMOS?

If both of yours are the SC edition, EVGA did issue a mini-recall of the early batches of 670s in May, but I doubt that either of you have the SC edition.

Both are the standard ones, I only got it because I'd heard good things about EVGA and it was the best looking card by a long way.

Yep
At this point, we're looking at just returning everything and buying anew. He bought everything locally, so it wouldn't take too long.
I'm getting no sound on Youtube videos only using Chrome, other browsers are fine?
1) Open some YouTube video in Chrome. I know for a fact this one has sound, but really any video you know has sound will be alright.
2) Open the Windows Volume thingy.
3) At the bottom, click "Mixer".
4) Check if any application (ANY) is muted. Don't just check Chrome, because I'm pretty sure Chrome's Flash plugin would show up as a separate thing.
I'm having some weird problems with connecting to facepunch;
Every time I try to get onto a FP webpage, it changes the address bar to the thread number duplicated many times, and spits out a 502 bad gateway error.
I'm assuming this is just a server thing, seeing as my brother is also getting it and me posting through a proxy right now is fixing it somewhat.
Is there anything I can do?
