I don't see the point in Overclocking GPU's. You need to go really high to see a noticable difference usually. Just let GPU boost do its thing
I've got the same problem. Then only solution I've found is to reload the page. It's pretty annoying, especially if you have set a custom page which should open every time you open Chrome.
You would think a refresh would work, but it doesn't.
What are the temperatures like on the OC, and is it fairly easy to do? (Never OC'd anything before :p)
While I don't have OC, My gtx 670 runs very "cold" even though I have shit airflow in case. Runs 30c idle with auto fan speed (through MSI afterburner) and max 70c in games (I do have shit airflow so you probably will get better temps) And the GTX 670 is amazing, such a great stepup from my 6850, best purchase this year.
Alright I am between these three monitors. I have been using Dell IPS monitors for years and never had any issues but I am considering the LG's but I hear they might have a light bleeding problem all though they are much cheaper. If there are any other price affective options just let me know. [editline]August 11th 2012[/editline] Having a non-glossy monitor is a plus too.

It feels so good to run anything above low, so and this one does ultra on most games. :v:
What's a good GIF animator that allows import of .avi files and easy cropping?
For whatever reason, when I launcher Garry's Mod or Team Fortress 2, windows aero gets disabled. I haven't tried other source games, but I assume it would be the same. I have no clue why this is happening all of the sudden, but it's annoying as hell. Any ideas?
I'm so happy I solved this for myself. What I ended up doing was trying to find the location that compatibility was stored. Whether it be in the C:/users/<profilename> or the HKEY_USER registry entry. I ended up finding that it was in the registry and removed all the offending keys. The path is: (If you are fixing it on another account) HKEY_USERS\<profile name>\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers Or: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers In there, you will find various keys with the executable path and the compatibility attributes in the values field. [Editline]a[/Editline] Now this is going to make me mad. Now when I launch tf2 without aero disabled, it just sits there with a black screen. This makes no sense.
Hey, is there some reason why having PhysX enabled makes Arkham City crash as soon as a level loads? I really should be able to do it (it's a GeForce 660M, and no other game has given me trouble with PhysX), but Arkham City does. Using full graphics settings EXCEPT for DX11 enable, and trying to use Normal PhysX (using None as a workaround).
There's no quick question thread in the PC building forum, so I'll ask here. I'm looking to upgrade my PC fairly soon, and I'm looking for a 2nd opinion on what I should replace first. AMD Phenom II x4 @ 3.2Ghz 8GB Epida RAM @ 1333Mhz 1GB HD6850 Which of the 3? I fear my processor is a bit of a bottleneck but I could be wrong.
Is your CPU the Phenom II X4 955BE? You could replace it with a sandy or ivy bridge cpu/mobo, or maybe invest in an SSD or something.
Is your CPU the Phenom II X4 955BE? You could replace it with a sandy or ivy bridge cpu/mobo, or maybe invest in an SSD or something.
It's the Phenom II x4 840. I'm also thinking about SSD's, because hard disks are ancient now. Thanks for the input so far :)
One of the panels on the bottom of my laptop recently dislodged itself a bit. I don't know how it happened but one side of it somehow popped up and I'm slightly worried about it. As far as I can tell I could just unscrew the whole thing and reinsert it but I'm afraid of messing with technology and feel I may somehow break the laptop entirely. Basically what I'm asking if it would be safe to unscrew the panel (while the computer is off obviously) and put it back in. I just want to make sure I wont dislodge anything else in the process or something like that. Here are some incredibly shitty photos of what I'm talking about taken with my iPod camera If there's anything else I should do please let me know.
It's safe as long as you don't pull cables or stab shit with the screwdriver. Just unscrew, position, screw back in.
Do any of you know how to change another user's wallpaper? I want to change my dad's desktop to a large picture of Nicholas Cage but I can't log on to his account.
What would benefit me more, a 670 (or 660 ti when it comes out), or an i5 (and of course an intel motherboard) and possibly an SSD? Do you want to process data or graphics...
Do you want to process data or graphics...
Mostly gaming.
Mostly gaming.
Then a 670 would benefit you more, there might be a few games (Skyrim) that would benefit more from a better processor, but 98% of the time, the 670 will give you better gaming performance.
What's a good GIF animator that allows import of .avi files and easy cropping?
Photoshop CS6 actually. I don't know about older versions, but it works great for me.
Okay, so i guess my next question would be 580 or 670.
670 no contest, better performance, more features, uses less power, looks cooler.
I currently have a 1920 x 1080 monitor and a 1920 x 1200(will be in the middle), if I get another 1920 x 1080 is it going to distort the resolution of the middle monitor when I use Nivida surround?

I'm running a small linux file server, what would be the best way to get a domain name I have registered through godaddy on it?
I'm running a small linux file server, what would be the best way to get a domain name I have registered through godaddy on it?
Use GoDaddy's DNS servers and set an A record pointing to your IP.
Do the QCK mass/normals slip around on the desk?
Photoshop CS6 actually. I don't know about older versions, but it works great for me.
Wait, so CS6 allows import of avi files? [editline]12th August 2012[/editline] holy shit why was I so unaware of photoshop actually being a great GIF editor/creator! Thanks!
This has been bugging me for a while: I have a GTX 560 Ti inserted into a P8H61-M Pro motherboard. While it works, I can't get the plastic clip to secure it. I've tried to apply some force to it, but I'm worried that I risk damaging the card. So should I just leave it as it is?
Is it possible to add more search engines in this field? ie I want Wikipedia to be under GoGoDuck as a second search engine [editline]12th August 2012[/editline] btw it's chrome
Do any of you know how to change another user's wallpaper? I want to change my dad's desktop to a large picture of Nicholas Cage but I can't log on to his account.
I'm not sure whether there's a program to do it, so I'll tell you how to do it with the command prompt and registry. If you're not comfortable with these, then you probably shouldn't be changing anyone's shit. First: open command prompt and run this command: wmic useraccount get name, sid This will tell you which SID is associated with your dad's account. Take note of this. Second: open registry editor. Go to HKEY_USERS, then expand the SID that you got earlier. Now expand Control Panel -> Desktop, and change the "Wallpaper" key there.
i3 2120 or AMD A8-3870k for a HTPC? Both exactly the same price with motherboard, leaning towards 3870k as I'm encouraging the person to do some light gaming, get him into PC gaming, the 3870k should be much, much better for that sort of thing using the IGP.
