3870k. They are identical in cpu power until encoding, the i3 prevails. The apu is actually good in the 3870k.
i3 2120 or AMD A8-3870k for a HTPC? Both exactly the same price with motherboard, leaning towards 3870k as I'm encouraging the person to do some light gaming, get him into PC gaming, the 3870k should be much, much better for that sort of thing using the IGP.
I would go for the 3870k because if I remember correctly later down the road you could match it with lower to mid range card for hybrid crossfire.
I hate how AMD and Intel's naming schemes are overlapping right now. 3570k, 3870k. Those assholes.
I thought as much, cheers Quikkill, this is what I have so far, fairly confident that it's all good, the APU when used via HDMI on the motherboard does both video and audio right? [thumb]http://puu.sh/R6np[/thumb]

Is my computer capable of running Battlefield Bad Company 2?
Is my computer capable of running Battlefield Bad Company 2?
It should play it on medium.
Reposting from last page Alright I am between these three monitors. I have been using Dell IPS monitors for years and never had any issues but I am considering the LG's but I hear they might have a light bleeding problem all though they are much cheaper. If there are any other price affective options just let me know. [editline]August 11th 2012[/editline] Having a non-glossy monitor is a plus too.
Is my computer capable of running Battlefield Bad Company 2?
Most likely. I was able to play it on a worse CPU with less RAM and a far older graphics card, on a slightly higher-res monitor. Only question I would raise is which graphics card you have. A Radeon 6450 might not be up to it, while a 6990 would absolutely thrash it. You're probably not in trouble, but it can't hurt to check.
Is it worth buying a "Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 512MB AGP" graphics card or should I just buy a better motherboard so that I'm not held back by the fact that it doesn't have a PCI-E slot. I have £60 at the moment but I might be able to get some more, depends on my luck really. Not looking to play any major new games, just to be able to run source games at a reasonable speed.
6790
Yeah, you should be good for medium, maybe medium-high.

[thumb]http://puu.sh/R6np[/thumb]
Yes, it can, and if you have a little left in your budget, grab a low profile 6570 or 6670. This will give the gpu performance of about a 7770 I think.
Use GoDaddy's DNS servers and set an A record pointing to your IP.
I'm really not sure how to do this, I'm completely new to being a server admin. Could you elaborate/point me to where I could find more information?
Yes
Can you use a radiator to ground yourself, regardless of whether it's on or off (I'm on about a radiator which is stuck in the wall)
Can you use a radiator to ground yourself, regardless of whether it's on or off (I'm on about a radiator which is stuck in the wall)
Haha, why would it being on/off do anything? It's just conductive and goes into the ground so yes it works to ground yourself.
Don't waste your time or money on anything with AGP.
So it would be better to buy a new motherboard entirely, could you possibly point me in the direction of one which has PCI-E slots and would probably support the current hardware I have, I don't know if it's all backwards compatible i'm pretty new to this. Also how difficult would it be to replace the motherboard?

£300-350 will get you a decent little machine.
His hdd probably is ide so watch out.
What's that software (I think it was posted in Post Your Desktop) that lets you pick which wallpaper is on each monitor? I just rearranged my monitors and now it displays out of order
What's that software (I think it was posted in Post Your Desktop) that lets you pick which wallpaper is on each monitor? I just rearranged my monitors and now it displays out of order
UltraMon
UltraMon
Or DisplayFusion.
So I shouldn't bother with AGP even as a temporary replacement, because I don't see myself running into £300 for a while and I only really want to run source games, my current graphics card doesn't even support Shader Model 3.
Do I really need a System Image backup? Windows Backup keeps failing whenever I try and run one, and I really don't know what to do. If someone could point out another good Backup utility (free = better), that'd be good too.
Anybody have suggestions for a $200-$250 IPS monitor? I'd prefer 22" at a minimum. I'm currently considering the LG ips235t, but it has some edge bleeding issues. If there aren't any better screens, I'd still go with it. I would go with the new HP ips that just came out, but I need VESA mounting holes, because I wall mount my monitors
