Does a flash-drive based anti-virus exist?
I'm not talking about bootable, I'm talking about "run an exe, it scans for malware".
You can put any tool on there thats standalone.

This isn't a U3 device though.
You asked if it was possible..
Going back to college this Sunday, but before I go I want to clean out my desktop and monitor before I get to the apartment. What should I use to clean off the monitor, given it's a slim LED and I'm fairly terrified of applying any sort of pressure on it's screen?
Also, how sturdy are parts anyway, every time I ship my tower I'm worried the jostling of the car from time to time might snap something (the age of the computer itself doesn't help, although the case itself is very, very sturdy.)
so i just installed a new board on my pc. went from an asus to an msi board.
the transfer and startup went without a hitch except for one thing: whenever I enter windows this pops up

it doesnt affect my computer at all, its just annoying. Anyway to make this stop showing up?
Use ccleaners registry fix, might help.
Is iz possible for a PSU to function fine even while everything is under full load and just randomly cause power losses, even when not under load?
Yeah. It could be a heat thing, something in the PSU heats up over time(not load) and loses power at the tripping point. Then it cools down and you'll have power till it heats up again.
An individual component could be failing, then regardless of load the power problem would hinge on when the component itself flakes out.
Finally, it could be a bad solder joint or other connection. The vibration from the PSU fan, or even case fan, could cause the bad solder joint to periodically lose contact and poof- no power.

I'm having the same problem here. Almost the same specifications.
My dad wants to buy a TV for the living room and we have no idea how TV's work, but we do know we want to buy it from http://www.abt.com/ and he wants to pay in cash so the zip code is 60025. He wants to buy from either Samsung or LG (must be Korean pride kicking in :v:) and the size of the TV to be 50" and 1080p. The TV has to be either LED or LCD (I would be awesome if you guys can tell me the differences of them if they actually have big differences that i should be watching out for).
We want the cheapest and a TV that will last about 6+ years. are there any that fits the descriptions?
Motherboard suggestions for a 670 SLI and a sound card(PCI-E x1)? Could spend up to $200, my CPU is a 1155 pin i5-2500K

Page file on SSD = bad right?
Mine has been on my SSD for 2 years.
Page file on SSD = bad right?
It would be faster, but all the write cycles would hurt it somewhatd. But even newer SSD's should still last a very long time.
Looking for a laptop for uni, no idea where to get a good reasonably priced laptop, Looking for something that can render fairly well and has decent enough graphical capabilities. As well as this something that has a good keyboard for typing, price range is £500 or below, thanks in advance.
My PC (Windows 7 x64) always loses network connection and has to reset the network adapter coming out of sleep mode. Is there a way to fix this or make the PC hibernate instead?
Try downloading the latest LAN drivers and reinstalling them.
Tried that, still loses the network.
how loud is the pump on the corsair H100 on performance mode?
i dont like how i have to open my case and push a button on the cooler to change the cooling mode,
so i was thinking about just connecting the H100's 2 fans to my motherboard's dual CPU fan headers instead of plugging them into the cooler pump like you should, and then just leave the pump running at performance mode.

Another idea is to add enough ram(at least 4gb) to create a suitable sized ramdisk, then set your pagefile to run in the ramdisk. This way you get the speed of an SSD for your pagefile(a ramdisk is essentially a temp SSD), but take the wear and tear off your real SSD.

Are you shitting me?
Do you even know what a pagefile and ramdisk *are*? It's memory that the computer uses when it doesn't have enough RAM to store everything it needs. It's sort of a hack to keep the computer fro totally crashing when you reach your RAM limit. So if you have 8GB of RAM and 12GB of pagefile, you can use up to 20GB before the computer starts actually crashing (performance will take a nosedive far before it reaches that point, as disk and even SSD are far slower than RAM).
A ramdisk is for the opposite - it's storing a section of "disk" in RAM for instant access. It used to be used only on the most expensive and powerful servers, but it's now becoming somewhat common for desktops now that 16GB of RAM is < $100. It still sees quite a bit of use in places where even an SSD is too slow.
Putting a pagefile on a ramdisk is like trying to generate infinite power by plugging an extension cable into itself. You're taking away RAM to use it to store the thing the computer uses to store things it can't fit in RAM.
I have a drive that I partitioned to install OS X on, I don't need it on this drive anymore and I'm trying to figure out how to format that partition back to NTFS/Merge it with the main NTFS partition. The only option I get in Disk Management under Windows is Delete Volume, if do this and then extend the main partition to the unallocated space will it be okay?
Just thought I'd ask because last time I fucked around with partitioning I accidentally formatted one of my drives
Are there any cheap android phones with or without a contract around $60-$80 dollars?

I have a mobile Air-con unit and it vibrates a lot, my neighbors are starting to complain. Anyone know a way of damping the vibrations of the thing?
Place it on a pillow?
Place it on a pillow?
Unfortunately it generates heat at the bottom and I don't want a fire so I'm looking for something like a piece of flooring that absorbs the vibrations.
I'm about to order a 660 Ti, but I've read things that suggest I should be worried about the smaller memory bus width (192-bit)...is it really that big of a deal?
