I'm going to buy a new laptop soon ( 1000$ around ), and was wondering if it is really worth it to shell out extra money to go for a i7 instead of a i5. I know that the i7 has twice as much cache ( shared ? ) and 2 extra physical cores, but I'm wondering if I really need this power. the GPU that will go with the laptop will be around the power of a Geforce 660. I do a lot of programming,I'm a gamer also , but I'm way behind the times of gaming ( I play Wolf:ET ) because I have a x1300. do new games really need the power of quadcores in order to have all the new physics goodness or is it just for the people that play it at insane resolutions and 1337x AA. so yeah, will the i7 be too much power for me? I rather spend that money on something else if so.

Eh not really but if you have the money I'd get an i7.

Okay so I set up a virtual box so I could play my game, I decided to do a windows 98 because that's what I played the game on when I was young. However I have a problem, the game file that I in windows 7 mount on daemon tools is and mdf file so I get an .mdf to .iso converter so I can "mount" it to virtual box, the same way you mount the .iso for the windows installation. But if I go in windows 98 to my computer it doesn't show up but the .iso for the game however the windows installation does show up as if it was in the cd-rom reader. Does anyone have any clue how I can fix this?

White and Blue - ehhhhhhh doesn't really make sense black and blue - looks good imo get the one with huge heatspreaders because aesthetics, and get the black case.

I think G.Skill Ares looks better than LP Vengeance.

Looks better and will let you find gigantic heatsinks if you want to. I think that the black case would go slightly better with the mobo because it has a black pcb.

I'm getting a hyper 212 until I can afford watercooling so I don't need anything short. And damnit chubbs I'm already getting the tall stuff, ITS IN MAH WISHLIST!

Why get ram heatsinks?

Get the low profile RAM. I've got Mushkin RAM with only moderately large heatsinks and it makes it so my fan on my HYPER 212+ has to be shifted upwards slightly on the heatsink to fit above the ram. The Vengeance ones with the huge heatspreaders are definitely bigger than mine and the space between the RAM slots on that board actually looks smaller than on mine.

My friend has an ASUS Z77 with the tall vengeance and a 212 but he got black. I'm sure it'll be fine, if not I'll just do a pull configuration instead of a push. Anyone got any idea why my Nvidia control panel won't open? When I open it from either the taskbar, Desktop right click or control panel nothing happens.

I'm really stupid, and I reset my computer's model information and shit a while back so it was blank. Now I don't know the exact model of my laptop so I can purchase a new battery that fits it. Is there any way to reclaim this info? I'm downloading speccy to see if it can find it.

So I found out I have a Acer Aspire AS5552G-7641 laptop. It has a 6-Cell LiIon 4400 mAh battery. I've found this battery with 9-Cell's. I don't know much about batteries though. I'm getting like 2:00 of battery when I'm doing light work. Dies in 20 minutes of playing damn Slender. I would like to be able to maybe pump 3 hours out of it with brightness half way up and be able to do some decent word processing and web browsing. Would I need a different charger, or will the stock charger work okay?
