My family is in desperate need of a new pc and we're getting a prebuilt. I found this which seems like a good deal but I'm not too sure of my computer appraisal skills. I am not concerned about the gfx card since i'll be purchasing an individual one later.
Our current PC can barely handle two youtube videos at once and it takes an enormous amount of time to do anything due to 1gig of ram and antivirus/bloatware. It is literally from 2005 and it makes noises that no computer should make.
Why are you getting a prebuilt, especially if you plan on changing it anyway?
I don't think anyone can recommend a prebuilt, because they all suck (except Alienware).

This was inevitable but i honestly can't be arsed to build my own computer. I know it's cheaper but that's why i'm paying more money for it to be built by someone other than me. I'd rather this not turn into a debate over whether prebuilt or not, i'm just wondering if that's fairly priced.

Well they don't suck, they're just expensive as fuck and no one should ever get one.

No

Alienware don't suck, they are on a whole new level of sucking.

Simple answer: No
Complicated answer: You pay them extra forevery part and every screw and everything and it's just not worth it period, the only prebuilt ever fairly priced is the one the neighborhood kid built because he only takes a few bucks for building it.
They to literally nothing but stick it otgether and screw a few things in, but they make you pay loads.
Not to add to the massive flame war above me, but saying the brand-who-must-not-be-named and suggesting it even in humor sense is putting a massive fucking target on your ass.
No one is flaming and if anyone actually believes that I am suggesting Alienware, then that's really not my problem.
I have a quick question. One of my Hard Drives in my server is making an extremely noisy rattling sound, not a clicking sound. It almost sounds like something is causing it to vibrate. Is it dieing?
Screw has come lose in it's mounting brackets. Just re-tighten it, if that doesn't solve it well fuck... pray it isn't something major internally.
I thought it might be that, But looking inside of the machine whilst it's on, I can't see the drive moving around much.

Much?
Just push it down and see if the noise stops.
I accidently pulled off my right mouse clicker, it still clicks fine but it keeps popping out, and the small thing under the triangle came off
let me try and get a picture

Hey guys, I'm considering whether to buy a new microphone. I've recently been really active in my community but my microphone's pretty bad. I need a new one. I don't have much budget, and I need a long-lasting high-quality microphone to talk to people on TeamSpeak, Skype, Mumble and so on. Anyone know any good models I could buy? Preferably under 50 euros.
So I have an Nvidia 9800GT
Is there any way I can use my HDMI TV as a second monitor? I tried plugging it in but it didn't recognize it even after a reboot

Antlion ModMic comes to mind, not sure on pricing
What's the best notebook on the market for gaming currently (or in the near future)? Nothing that is majorly over $2,400 though.
Edit:
Have found the asus g75 series
Just look around at Sager's laptops and outfit one to meed your needs/wants.
Does anyone know much about Novatechs laptops?
Was thinking about getting this one http://www.novatech.co.uk/laptop/range/novatechnspiren1508.html for when I start uni in a few weeks.
any opinions?
I want a ~120 GB SSD for my laptop and some DDR3 RAM. Any suggestions?
I currently have 204-pin DDR3 4GB (1600) not sure of voltage.
So I plan on buying a video card for my PC to replace my shitty integrated one. I plan on buying the Radeon 6570 off of newegg since it's all i can afford for now. I just need to know if it will work for my pc. I currently have an Nvidia 6150 le.
This is the motherboard I have
Someone told me that it would fit but i'd really like some more feedback before I buy this card.
A stock photo is far less useful than the name. And since it has pcie x16 it will fit but probably get chocked.
I have an HP pavilion a1700n PC if that helps

-snip I cant read-
[editline]28th August 2012[/editline]
But what wattage is the PSU?
300w
-snip, proved wrong-
I think a 600w PSU would be a good choice wattage for a mid-high tier build
just make sure it's not some cheap IED.
so you guys are saying that my power supply isn't good enough for the radeon 6570?
corsair 650 is plenty
Your PSU is fine, that card doesn't require external power. I was running a 9800 GT EE and an athlon x2 and 3 HDD's off a 250w PSU.
can someone recommend me a decent laptop for 400-500 dollars, for school use and watching hd videos and maybe some very light gaming (flash games tier)
