Alright... Whats the best processor I can get with this motherboard? ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A77D (AM2)
If it supports AM3 like Newegg says, then this is your best option.
So, my home PC is a Scaleo Pi 2662 with a changed GPU, however, I'd like to know if I can add an SSD to it. According to this it should have the following available Do you guys know a decent and not too expensive SSD that'd work with that? Motherboard is a G31T-M2.

Motherboard is a G31T-M2.
Well, pretty much any SSD will work with it. Your only problem is that most SSDs are 2.5", while your drive bay is 3.25". There are some pretty cheap mounting brackets that make a 2.5" drive fit in a 3.25" bay without rattling all over the place, but you can also find some 3.25" SSDs (although they're generally way overpriced). So now the question becomes "which SSD?", and you didn't give us enough to go on. Do you just want a fast boot drive? How much space do you need? How much are you willing to spend? Right now, SSDs cost roughly 1$ per gigabyte, slightly less for the slower drives, slightly more for the really fast ones.
Ssds come with bracket. Get a crucial m4.
A minor note. OEM drives obviously don't come with mounting equipment, or cables.
A minor note. OEM drives obviously don't come with mounting equipment, or cables.
This, don't make the same mistake I did with my DVD drive.
Ssds come with bracket. Get a crucial m4.
Mine didn't. Of course, it was going into a laptop so I didn't need one.
I really dunno where I should ask this question.. but... Do somebody know a programme or plugin to Google Chrome, which block internet browsing after given hour? Beniamin and settings on router is out of the question.

Fast simple question from a friend. Buy windows 7 or wait for windows 8?
probably 7. 8 offers a lot, but if he isn't too savy it runs a good chance of being completely alien to him.
Fast simple question from a friend. Buy windows 7 or wait for windows 8?
Does he have a live account? If yes, then go for it.

Crosspost from my thread in Tech Support since it takes a long time to get a response from it. So my monitor is a HP w1907, and it stays on for about 30 seconds to a minute later the picture quickly fades, then goes back up, then turns off. The power is still on, the cables are all stable, and Catalyst Center still recognizes the screen, it just stops showing an image. Now here's where it gets weird: The way apparently that it fixes itself (for only a minute or thirty seconds) is using the power button to turn it off and on again. This only repeats the cycle. I'm almost positive the cables are plugged in and secure (moving around both cables yielded no results after loss of picture, and unplugging either cable makes CCC no longer recognize it). Is this a common issue? Is the monitor dying? Am I screwed?
Fast simple question from a friend. Buy windows 7 or wait for windows 8?
Depends if he'll survive getting to grips with the UI.
Thanks for the answers. I tell him to wait. He's going to buy some new parts for his PC and wanted an other OS (He's using vista). The computer still works for what he does so there is no rush so he can wait.
Windows 8
Should i buy Windows 8 for my Christmas build too?, i've heard bad things about it like the UI and removal of the taskbar...
Intel i7 or i5 for renders (SFM and Blender, not heavy shit)?
Intel i7 or i5 for renders (SFM and Blender, not heavy shit)?
An i5 for Blender or SFM is fine, if you were using mental ray or v-ray then an i7 would be better.
You probably gain more from the frequency x4 than you do from the hyperthreading.
Should i buy Windows 8 for my Christmas build too?, i've heard bad things about it like the UI and removal of the taskbar...
Wanna see what Windows 8 looks like? [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1439918/Pics/2012-10-10_18-32-19.png[/t] The thing that some people don't like is Metro, this: [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1439918/Pics/Start_menu_2012-10-10_18-32-39.png[/t] It's a really great and faster operating system. [editline]10th October 2012[/editline] It has so many improved features and such. Metro takes a couple hours to get used to and you'll like it. There's no reason not to use Windows 8.
I would wait a bit. I had a lot of issues with windows 8 and gaming. Games crashing and stuff. Most of it was related to drivers.

Metro replaces the start menu. Other than that, I rarely use it. You can still use it to quickly launch apps by pressing windows key and typing part of the program name and pressing enter. It's very fast and decent. [editline]10th October 2012[/editline] It will be a small transition, nothing that you couldn't handle though. It's a bit different than you're used ot.

This isn't new or revolutionary in any way. Personally I find the start screen to be unusable for anything beyond frequently used applications. I like the concept of a full screen interface, but the lack of collapsed folder structures when viewing all programs simply makes the interface a clusterfuck on my system because I have at present nearly 15 pages of stuff on a 1920x1080 resolution monitor. With the folders actually defaulting to collapsed I could fit everything onto one screen with some adjustments.
I know the feature exists on 7 and vista but some people are under the misconception you are unable to do that with the start screen.
My apologies then. You seemed to imply that it was somehow new.

It could either be the internal/external PSU failing or a capacitor losing it's load or another component failing after a few seconds of use. But yeah, unless it's an external PSU and you can confirm that your video card isn't for some reason stopping output, you are pretty much fucked.
Should i buy Windows 8 for my Christmas build too?, i've heard bad things about it like the UI and removal of the taskbar...
Yeah Windows 8 isn't what I'm looking for either. You should probably download the RP and run it in Virtual Box or VMware. [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Wanna see what Windows 8 looks like? There's no reason not to use Windows 8.
One reason not to like it is the fact that the start metro blocks your desktop so you can't see the program which are open when you use it. Another is the lack of aero, another is the stupid charms you need to pixel hunt for and yet another is the fact that you can't have groups within groups the start thing. Oh, and the ribbons resemble something out of Windows 98 without the menus. [t]http://essentialsstudyguide.wikispaces.com/file/view/Windows_Explorer_98_Second_Edition.png/304127512/Windows_Explorer_98_Second_Edition.png[/t] [t]http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/8-29-2011windows8explorer.jpg[/t] I apologise for the excessively large pictures, I'm not trying to start a debate, I just hate Windows 8...a lot.
The school network seems to be blocking the ports for Steam and Minecraft servers, and I wonder if there's any way to connect to them via some proxy or something on Lubuntu?
