So there's this terrible digitized static and clicking coming from my left headphone, and when adjust the volume on my speakers they hiss like crazy. I'm assuming it's my motherboard's onboard audio, but does anyone know of any alternate solutions? Here's a sample. If you listen really close you can hear the clicking and a bit of digital nonsense.
should i sell my 4 months old hd 6970 and buy a gtx 670? im not sure wether its worth it as theyre both great cards and i know upgrading this soon is totally retarded but when i see 670 benchmarks i start drooling also which brand if yes, my 6970 is from xfx and it runs hot as shit so i'd preferably not run into another card that averages about 75 degrees celsius in bf3
I would not upgrade, that money could be used for other areas
What is a nice laptop suitable for my mother? It will be used for web browsing mostly. It needs to have a screen smaller than 15" and a nice battery life. And also it has to be cheap. Ability to run HL1 would be great.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215397 This seems alright. [editline]11th October 2012[/editline] Damn, you can't order from newegg.
What're the benefits of jailbreaking an iPod touch? Or, alternately, how can I get better performance out of my iPod? Apps and safari and stuff seem to crash an awful lot, even just listening to music.

Probably the wrong thread, but Christmas is two months away and i'm not welcome in the PC building sub-thread just yet. How well would my current wishlist run games like BF3 and GTA4 on max settings at 1080p and Windows 7/8? http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=21149626 Also it seems Asrock motherboards are getting bad reviews as of recent, any alternatives? Examples of bad reviews are mostly DOA, but one review said that they're meant to fail easily. I'm sorry about asking, but i don't want to have to RMA anything on my first build.
It could probably do medium-high on both of those games.

Warranties are here for a reason and ALOT of people end up having to RMA something just because electronics aren't perfect. I know it doesn't sound fun but this is the real world.

Hard drive speeds are important, but not so much as to overpay for a small increase with less space. Save $30 on the PSU and get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817116014.
I agree with Walrus, Only instead since you can afford it I would get this caviar black 1 TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533 As much as I love the F3's I persoanlly believe the Caviar Blacks are the most solid drive out there.

Bad reviews put me off of the WD black 1tb. Thanks for replying.
Reviews are a very limited vocal minority, people are much more likely to speak out against negative experiences over positive ones. The PSU I linked you has 3 eggs, but it's OEM'd by Seasonic, modular, and is barely under 80+ Silver standards. I have it and it is a great product, but I'm not going to write a review because I can't be bothered to put in the effort.
Seagates 7200.14's are good. My four are 14's and I think my external 3TB is a .14 and they are really fast.

Parts are just so finicky no matter where you buy from, You could have some guy hand you an i5 processor fresh off the line and ready to be shipped out and it might not work. I know you're nervous on your first build, and you should be it keeps you on your toes. But don't freak out about it if you do 1 little thing wrong, like say you forget a standoff and you have to disassemble the entire PC, just do it and then redo it.
If it'll help you, just make a list of things you need to do and check off things as you do them. I know as soon as I got my stuff the first thing I did was opened the case and installed standoffs.

Standoffs 3. motherboards 4. CPU 5. RAM 6. PSU 7. HDD(S) 8. CPU Cooler ( assuming you have a motherboard cutout and it is an aftermarket cooler ) 9. Cable managing! A GREAT guide to follow is the one from newegg and TekSyndicate. I prefer TekSyndicate as he is more down to earth with the basics. Having sound problems. Occasionally my sound will randomly pop and then static washes everything out. If I change the analog out setting from headphones to anything else, it will go away. Only a reboot can fix it otherwise. (I have an asus xonar dgx + AT ad700s.) Any idea whats going on and how I can fix it?
Is it worth upgrading nvidia drivers? looks like the same changes as the previous ones
Yes, they always look the same but usually the newer drivers are more stable and help improve performance.
This might be personal opinion but I feel it helps to install the CPU, heatsink, and RAM before you put the motherboard in the case.
I don't like installing any of that before the motherboard is installed just because the board flexes more when its not installed and I'm always afraid of bending/warping the board that way. The only time I would install the CPU first is if it needed a separate back plate that couldn't be installed from the back of the case.
If you have a fan that requires a backplate, you most likely have a case that has an access hole.
