For a budget video card (>$100), is this a decent card to grab for Christmas? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004Z5GRW6/ref=asc_df_B004Z5GRW62241042?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=pg-469-34-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395097&creativeASIN=B004Z5GRW6
How often should I defrag a hard drive?
Every 4.76 hours. [editline]27th October 2012[/editline]
Does EVGA and Nvidias "Target Framerate" also reduce power usage on 5xx series? I'm asking because i'm getting 580 SLI at a low price and i really don't want them to run at 450 Watt constantly when i play.
The power load will depend on the game. Your 580's will downclock nicely on idle. I have mine around 50mhz on idle. But ingame it obviously goes full. But my point before is that in games like skyrim my 580's pull more power than BF3. It varies. You might as well just use a frame limiter to keep it lower overall. But I don't have experience with target framerate.
I found a bunch of old PC games and i was wondering, is it illegal to crack a game you lost the activation code for?
If you own the game, no.
I'm finally going to get an SSD is Crucial M4 a good choice?
Saving up a bit more might be very worth it.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/EVGA+-+GeForce+GTX+550+Ti+2GB+GDDR5+PCI+Express+2.0+Graphics+Card/3628074.p?id=1218421871605&skuId=3628074&st=evga%20nvidia%20550%20ti&cp=1&lp=3 I just found out I can get this for $100. How 'bout that?
go for it.
I'm finally going to get an SSD is Crucial M4 a good choice?
I've had no problems with mine.
I'm finally going to get an SSD is Crucial M4 a good choice?
Mine works okay, though I've had a couple of times where I had to pull it out of my laptop, plug it into my desktop, boot the desktop, shut it down, then put it back into the laptop to get it to start. I haven't had a problem with my Samsung 830, which has faster write speeds I think.
Which should I buy? It'll be for installing a fresh copy of W7 which will then be upgraded to W8 so I don't have to live with it on my old HDD. My 1TB drive only has software and files on it. OCZ 120GB ($105): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227706 or Samsung 256GB ($170): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147164 I'd normally just buy the OCZ but I don't know if the amount of space the Samsung comes with is worth the extra $65. [editline].[/editline] By the way, is there a way I can make a new Windows install recognize the software that's installed on a separate drive without having to reinstall everything? I have all my games and the majority of the software I use daily on my 1TB and it'd be a hassle to have to remove them from the drive and reinstall just to have them recognized. Thanks.
Is this version of Windows 8 the full version or an upgrade version?, it's hard to tell.: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-3UR-00001-Windows-8-Pro/dp/B008H3SW4I/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
And what is the difference between upgrade and full version?
Upgrade can't be installed on a new computer, you need an OS to upgrade from like Windows 7 or Vista. The full version can be installed on a brand new PC.
Upgrade can't be installed on a new computer, you need an OS to upgrade from like Windows 7 or Vista. At least that's how it was with 7, I got an OEM 3-Pack for $80 when I built my pc.
If I buy a Windows 7 upgrade version for my Vista x64 laptop, will I need to install Vista before I install Windows 7 when I need to do a clean install or do I just need both product keys?
This is a pretty uncommon topic but I may as well try... Has anyone gotten Pandora to work with Last.FM? I tried this plugin but it's not detecting my songs.
If I buy a Windows 7 upgrade version for my Vista x64 laptop, will I need to install Vista before I install Windows 7 when I need to do a clean install or do I just need both product keys?
With windows 7 there was a quick registry fix that allowed you to bypass that entirely. Essentially there is just a boolean flag for upgrade vs clean installation. I wouldn't be surprised if windows 8 had something similar. Google around a bit.
For some time in system I haven't option "Switch User". I tried to restore it somehow but checking the registry and services didn't work. What to do? The system is Windows 7 Ultimate x86.
Posting here because it makes more a little sense than posting in the android thread I want to get an android phone, to semi-replace my old iPhone 3gs, I know almost nothing about android phones. I don't have a whole lot of cash, but my birthday is next month, and Christmas after that. I want to know if there is sort of a buying guide for android phones, this may sound a little stupid, but I'm planning on developing for android (It seems to be a hell of a lot easier than developing for iPhone seeing as I don't need to go out and buy a mac) anyway, I have a whole bunch of questions. Are there any specific sites that you think I should visit, or even if I should just check out some threads on here?
Can anyone suggest a good free video editor?

Oh yeah I think I was getting confused between the two, there are some workarounds to it but I don't know personally how to use upgrade on a new machine.
Can anyone suggest a good free video editor?
Windows live movie maker
Windows live movie maker
It's actually pretty good. Lightworks if you need more advanced editing.
Should I get an internal drive or external drive? I'm leaning towards internal drive since I'm a video game hoarder and hate uninstalling games and since I only have 2 200gb internal drives.
Which processor is better? My MoBo is an LGA775 and I currently have an Intel Pentium Dual-Core @2.8GHz. This guy is offering me a trade for a Core2Duo @2.4GHz. Which one is better? Here are the two on Newegg... Mine - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116091 His - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115003&name=Processors-Desktops (I know they both suck, but I have to work with what I have for now.)
Don't bother. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/94?vs=61
Don't bother. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/94?vs=61
Yeah. Not really worth it. I also have gotten this offer: http://ark.intel.com/products/42802/Intel-Pentium-Processor-E5800-2M-Cache-3_20-GHz-800-MHz-FSB Would that be worth it? If not, what would be the minimum for an okay upgrade?
Could anyone recommend a good screen with 1080p and 120HZ between 22" and 24" (or atleast around that) that's also not expensive as shit? How good is it to have 120HZ? I've only had 60HZ monitors and I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money
