does EVGA Precision X work with amd/ati radeon cards?
Use MSI Afterburner.
Hey guys, I'm looking for a mid-range (400$ to 1000$) LCD monitor with better color reproduction for graphic design work. What brands and models would you recommend? From what I've gathered Viewsonic, NEC and Samsung monitors get good color reproduction.

But in that range, http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&cs=audhs1&l=en&s=dhs&sku=210-40773&redirect=1

They are usually quite extensive and as detailed as possible [editline]30th October 2012[/editline] Considering you are going to work with graphic design, you might want wide gamut support; the Dell U2713HM does not feature that. The earlier version does support it however, but isn't as good in other aspects such as black depth and USB 3.0. [editline]30th October 2012[/editline] After reading up on the monitor a bit more, it seems that you can not completely trust Dell with quality checking it before delivering it. According to some that have bought in it October this year the monitor came with backligt bleed and image retention. Again, it may differ from countries (this was from Sweden, by the way) but I would still like to be aware of it before buying from Dell.

"stable" when it comes to transferring between devices and print. I'd wager Graphic design is in a similar vein. It's nearly always going to to be moving to print or packaging. If you're going to be working freelance and you think you might need wide gamut, then check out maybe the older version. Blacks would be nice, but when dealing with a desktop environment, I don't think it will matter much. As long as you have the number for the 16bit or 8bit level it would be fine. Dell is ok with quality checking, but they are good with getting you a replacement quick if you have issues.
So I am awaiting my first SSD to show up on my doorstep, what i plan on doing is having the SSD be my boot drive and have a few other essential programs on it. I will be putting everything else on my current drive, will i be able to just run steam off of it as is or will i have to copy over my steamapps folder, reformat the drive, install steam, and then put the steamapps folder back? I would normally be able to figure this kind of stuff out but as this is my first time "migrating" everything across to another drive other then just starting over i need a little bit of help. Also i will be following this guide http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds
~snip~ found the problem
I have a mate that is wondering what destop to buy. I would get him to order the parts and build it for him but he isn't located near me at the moment, any good suppliers of prebuilt desktops in/shipping to Australia? [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] Anyone used PC Case Gear's assembly service? Might go with them.
What's a good brand or model for a <= $800 gaming laptop? I was looking at Lenovo "IdeaPads", Y-series. I'm not picky with graphics, it's a good processor that I want.

I would also recommend that you don't use superfetch etc. and keep a page file on another drive or the SSD.
Well my free computer is falling apart (it's essentially duct taped together) so it's time to purchase a new one. I need a laptop that's high end enough to run Photoshop, Lightroom and preferably After Effects fairly decently too in high resolution, typically 6K by 3,5K .raw shots over prolonged periods of time. I also want it to be solid and robust (it needs to survive outside in extreme heat and cold, and take a few hits from rocks) and I'd like it to be cold enough to use in bed at night without burning my lap. (That bit is optional) I'd also like it to last a while and not deteriorate too quickly and lastly I'd prefer it to be fairly small and lightweight since I travel with it at least two hours every day and tend to bring it up mountains or through treks. Battery doesn't have to be the best in the world but I want at least 4 hours of good use of it before I charge. (Good use: editing pictures on-camp) I have a $900 budget, although if I find nothing at all in this price range that's satisfactory I can postpone skydiving and ride on a $1600 budget. My friend pointed out the HP ProBook 4340 but I couldn't find any reviews for it, and the specs tell me little of build quality, battery heat and all of that. Is there any computer you guys recommend, or should I stick with the ProBook?
Sounds like you want a military grade notebook, otherwise none will survive heat and cold extremes.
Should I get a 1TB Caviar black first or should I get a new CPU cooler and attempt to do some light overclocking? as of now I have a caviar blue 500 gig I want to use for just storage such as pictures and video. And then I don't trust this seagate I have as its a bit slow and its one with the 7200.11 drivers. I really am thinking I should get a caviar black but its just so damn hard to choose. My highest temps are 72c on full load and I idle around 45c, would that put any damage on my CPU in the long run of 4 - 6 months?
thats a very hot cpu but not even stock coolers do that.
So I got my SSD installed and whatnot and when I went to benchmark it I got less then advertised results, I followed this guide http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds, is there something that i am doing wrong? I have it set to AHCI in my bios and it is set in windows, I have the latest chipset drivers, etc. Here's what I'm supposed to be getting roughly [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/vI28X.jpg[/thumb] And here's what I am actually getting, [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/58Bw5.png[/thumb] Heres my full system specs if that helps [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/VDqjA.png[/thumb]
thats a very hot cpu but not even stock coolers do that.
You apparently don't know how shitty the stock intel cooler is then for an i5 3570k...
Yes I do I have the cooler and the CPU and they both never got that sorta temps.
Sounds like you want a military grade notebook, otherwise none will survive heat and cold extremes.
Hm, intrigued. Ignoring the bit about being robust, though, in that price range, is it a decent laptop?
Long ago I lost my intuos 3 Wacom tablet pencil. that sucks, right? I got a new one, a Wacom Bamboo. Everything went great, do you know what I lost? My tablet, of all things Are there any cheap ways to use my intuos with either my Bamboo pen or anything else?
Wait the bamboo pens don't work with intuos tablets? I thought they did Just look around for it it's a big fuckin' slate thingy. There's nothing cheap/3rd party with intuos pens since it isn't your average stylus, but instead is this really amazing tech, magnetic induction for power, pressure sensing element, accelerometer for tilt, all packed into a pen-sized package
Well I've looked in both my rooms and have found nothing. Looked abit in other rooms aswell without results, I have no clue to go after. I thought there would be a driver or someshit to make it work, or any way to make the intuos one work. IIt's an intuos 3 I think
What's some good drive imaging software, similar to the old Symantec Norton ghost solution suite? Preferably freeware.

I'm just trying out dual monitors and downloaded a dual monitor task bar which is pretty sweet. What are some good programs you guys recommend for gaming if I want to have a game on one screen and say fp on the other?
Gaming in windowed [borderless if possible] mode is your new best friend
Didn't even think about that thanks!
You'll probably find that if you ever go back to using a single monitor it'll feel completely wrong.
I have 4gb ram in my PC at the moment, if i wanted to upgrade with another 4 would i have to buy the exact same brand, speed etc as the ram already in?
