I have 4gb ram in my PC at the moment, if i wanted to upgrade with another 4 would i have to buy the exact same brand, speed etc as the ram already in?
Same brand? No. Same speed? No.
However, if you put mixed memory on the same *channel*, it will reduce the performance of the faster one to match the lower (eg. if you have a stick of 1333 and a stick of 1600 on the same channel, they'll both be run at 1333MT/s). Just make sure all your old memory is on one channel, and all the new memory on the other. But even if you don't, the brand doesn't matter.
I'm thinking about ordering a new monitor for myself. However, I'm not sure if I want to get myself a 16:10 monitor or 16:9 monitor.
While I enjoy the extra space I'll get from 16:10, the only drawback are the black bars when I watch films or do anything relating 16:9.
To anyone with 16:10 monitors, are the black bars that noticeable?

No they aren't because they are black, the extra space is invaluable.

It seriously annoys me that barely anyone makes 16:10 screens anymore.
Yea 16:10 is so much nicer. And hell, it's black bars, they are less annoying than the white wall behind or whatever.
If i'm buying a Windows 7 tablet convertible, is there a cheap alternative to a thinkpad x230t?
I was thinking of a fizzbook spin.
Will a decent brand 650w psu be enough for...
Intel i5 3570k OC to 4.2Ghz
2x AMD 7950 3GB
I have one card at the moment and wonder if I can keep this psu.
Well this is a first:
Does anyone know a low-vibration DVD-ROM drive? Cause mine randomly goes spinning and making noise and I can't stand it anymore.
-disregard, read post below-
A decent 650w is plenty. I have two 670s and a oc'd 3570k and I have a 650w and have plenty to spare.
A real source.

Two 7950s will use at most, 300w.
I recently swapped an AMD 955 X4 for an Intel i5 3570k... and I Crysis is now not even playable. Any ideas?
Is there such a thing as a self-resizing partition? Like let's say you have Windows 7 on one partition, and your Steam games on another. The rest is unallocated space or space being used by other partitions. You fill up your Win 7 and Steam partitions until there is no space left on the hard drive for either. Would this be possible to implement, and if not, why is it impractical?
Well for one partitions are continious. You can of course do it with some hacking but theres no point. Just make one partition.
so i just started to get a weird issue where every game i played texture would get reemplased by a green one with some dots the perfomance is alrite and the temperature is 60C

Sounds like dieing GPU.
Is anyone using the AsRock extreme 4 right now? I bought it a few days ago, and shipped it off to get a replacement because it wouldn't recognize ANY video cards I put into it, and the onboard video just stopped working. Just asking to see if I should have went with a full refund instead of a replacement because I don't know how reliable the mobo is supposed to be, and if I'm the small percentage that got a defective one.
I searched around, and it seems I'm not the only one with that problem.

It's supposed to be a good mobo as far as I've heard.
Has anyone got a false positive with Malwarebytes? it said _isdel.exe was a trojan.zbot but i had researched and it's just something for Install shield... so yeah... anyone experience this?
How can I reset my KMS server to the standard Windows one?
When I change steams system tray icon, it does a self repair at start-up and replace the one I choose to the normal one. Any help?
I have a Lenovo ideapad Y580, and certain programs keep crashing on it. Steam and Microsoft Silverlight (the program Netflix uses to play movies) are the most common ones. It seems to be random, I've already tried a repair install on steam and a complete reinstallation, but it keeps crashing. Could an unreliable internet connection (I'm on University connection, it's not that good) have something to do with it, or is it possible some preinstalled programs (the ones the laptop just comes with) are causing incompatibility?
How do I reset my Western Digital USB HDD to defaults? I've tried formatting it to NTFS using Gparted on my laptop by removing the current partition then installing a NTFS partition, but it doesn't seem to work on Windows.
Defaults? You mean an empty partition?
Right click "Computer" > Manage > Disk Management > Right click partition and format, expand, etc.
I can't find the disk on Windows, only on Linux.
What's some good drive imaging software, similar to the old Symantec Norton ghost solution suite? Preferably freeware.
I use DriveImage XML but only because I've used it for so long now It's become my go-to solution. There may be better, newer pieces of software these days.
Does anyone know if there was any software that would let you type by using the numpad in your keyboard?
The same way how messages were typed on old phones before touch screens.

I have a laptop that I have tried both gparted and dban on, and it boots from the disk but get to a certain point and starts going through this list of error messages, way too fast for me to read them, but I saw some phrases such as "error" and "ata1" and "DRDY ERR". The left column had numbers formatted like "30.3452" for example, and as far as I could tell they were incrementing with every error, just faster than I could read. Anybody have any idea what could be causing this, and how do I fix it?
[editline]e[/editline]
Is this how dban is supposed to run, and endless stream of error messages? It's had over 2,800 so far.

Nevermind it's slow as hell.
