Is overclocking a laptop easy and relatively risk-free? My laptop should be arriving on Thursday, and I figured "Why not overclock the i7-3720QM from 2.6GHz to 3.6GHz, or less just to be safe (3.4GHz)" Would it be very difficult for me to do so? Of course, I don't want to fry my laptop on the first day I get it, so any advice would be appreciated.
even if the BIOS allows you to OC, just don't. You should be bottlenecked by your GPU generally, anyways. It would just kill your battery life if it even worked.
So, I'm upgrading my cpu, ram, and case to this (around $400 budget): [t]http://imgur.com/OsJoT.png[/t] Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139011 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 Mobo/CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1100013 I mostly going to use it for gaming and a little video editing/rendering. Here's my current specs just in case:
There will be a nice difference in performance. Would you be interested in selling that 960 at all?
So It's been this for years and I'm sick of it and finally I can grab something else, AT&T U-Verse. (Albeit with a $500ish deposit) Does anyone here have AT&T U-verse and use it for gaming, and does it work? Low pings, consistent and reliable connection? Right now, even when my internet's working at its best, it's like morse code. I'm on the verge of just ordering a 56k modem to play things like Minecraft and shit it's so bad
Any way to turn my Galaxy S2 into a wireless USB modem thingy going over Wifi? Not sure what to search for on google.
Any way to turn my Galaxy S2 into a wireless USB modem thingy going over Wifi? Not sure what to search for on google.
Yeah, there's a thing called USB Tethering. It's in Settings > More > Tethering and portable hotspot, but that depends on what OS you're on.
I was looking at getting a gaming headset for my birthday. What would be a good one to look at? My price range is up to $150.
Yeah, there's a thing called USB Tethering. I want to access my home network but use the phone as my antenna
USB tethering doesn't for some reason over 3g, and WiFi doesn't work with that. [editline]7th November 2012[/editline] He wants to use his phone as a wi-fi dongle.
Clear your cookies.
I've tried that, it goes full retard when I log back in
USB tethering doesn't for some reason over 3g, and WiFi doesn't work with that. I want to access my home network but use the phone as my antenna
That's weird because that's exactly what I'm doing right now. S2 tethered to my Desktop PC, receives WiFi through phone and passes it to my PC through the USB.
That's how I use my laptop at work, my laptop's ethernet port is no longer working so I only have wireless to rely on. I plug my HTC into my PC, set it to USB "Pass-through" and enable wi-fi hotspot then disable mobile networking as a safety measure.
Upgrade motherboard and CPU, yes/no?
Why do you run an Intel cpu? I'm curious because every Intel CPU I've ever used, new or old, has always had major problems with over heating and just being slow as fuck with my Nvidia graphics cards while AMD has never given me any problems and has worked well in any machine I've built for years. Fun fact, the machine I currently have is using a first production 2005 AMD athlon 64 x2 3800+ dual core. Still playing all modern games without any lag or anything.

Also it is almost impossible to find AMD CPU here and even if there is its an Opertron.

My brother have done this- And his phone is an earlier phone than the S2, so I'm going by the fact that the OS usually supports the same good things in later versions. Hm, have you rooted yours?

Alright I got my first external HD yesterday and I have one small query Do I actually need any of this stuff? There are installers and .exe's in there so I just want to make sure in case I delete something important
Speaking of a Western Digital external HD, I still haven't fixed mine. I can't access it through Windows for some reason- I can see flashdrives fine, and I've tried different ports. The drive works on my other computer- Running Linux. I've tried formatting it to NTFS using Gparted, by first cleaning it then changing it to NTFS, but it still didn't work. Any ideas, anyone?
does it show up in windows disk/partition manager (whatever it's called)?
Yeah- the Diskpart thing, then list disk. Formatting it NTFS is slow as shit in it though. Took a whole day for it to reach 5%.
and are you assigning it a letter?

Has anyone encountered an issue where the mouse randomly jumps to the bottom right corner (on dualscreens to the second one) at completely random times and not very frequently?
Fair enough, sorry I didn't help much. Didn't realize the smaller screened laptops were that expensive. Hope you find the right laptop for your work buddy!
http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=products
not trying to be an ass but why would i need a gaming-oriented laptop? i looked at sagers back in my hardcore mobile gaming days.
not trying to be an ass but why would i need a gaming-oriented laptop? i looked at sagers back in my hardcore mobile gaming days.
Sorry, I didn't know Sager laptops were purely for gaming. I thought the 14" screened laptops would be more Photo editing / video editing orientated instead of gaming orientated. I should have checked before linking.
it's a step in the right direction at least, no harm done if all you're doing is trying to help :v:
and are you assigning it a letter?
..That might be it, how do I do this?
