This is still happening. Every guide I look up on the internet directs me as if windows was installed on the PC already, this is a clean hard drive that has nothing on it whatsoever. The total Technical information I get is:
*** Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Wait, is it blue screening during the install or immediately after a fresh install?
[editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
And what version of Windows?
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 and I would rather not go through and individually download all the programs I need again. What is the name of that website that allows you to go through a list and select a bunch of programs to download all at once? I know it used to be reccommended to people all the time on here.
Call me stupid but can you quadruple boot OS's? Also if i get an external HDD is there a way to make a PC boot to an OS on that?
Yes you can! To keep 4 bootable OS's on your system and switch between them easily: there's several solutions. The first is to install each OS to a separate drive and choose which to boot through your BIOS/UEFI, if you have bios your second option is to get a boot loader like linux's GRUB, if you have UEFI your next option would be to get a boot manager like rEFInd. That way you can have operating systems installed in secondary partitions and still boot to them via chainloading or direct load(UEFI).
For your external drive question, yes you can boot from any external datasource. Most motherboards attempt to boot from usb before internal drives, if not you can easily change that in their BIOS.

Yes, although four boot-level partitions is the most you can have on a single disc (at least on a BIOS-based system - not sure what the limit is for EFI).
Many systems support booting off an external drive, particularly if it's eSATA. It does depend on your BIOS/firmware, though. And older systems often don't support this.

I think it's during the install, both screens are actually blue, but the setup says "Windows setup" on it. It starts to load up all the installation files, then it suddenly goes into an error. Either way, it never actually installs windows.
It's also windows XP, since that's the latest version of windows I have in my house. That might be the problem, but I'm not entirely sure.

- Check your hard drive
- Do you have anything exotic (or at least would have been exotic in the days of Windows XP)? It might be trying to load drivers for that and failing
- See if your disc is all scratched up and shit
- A guy on Google said he fixed it by doing this:
I had the same problem with a Dell Optiplex 330. I received the
STOP 0x0000007B(0xF78DA63C,0x0000034,0X x0000000,0x0000000 error message if I booted with Windows XP. I resolved the issue by the following actions
1. On start up (Dell logo), press F2 to enter BIOS
2. Expand the "Drives" section
3. Go to "SATA Operation"
4. Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA"
Now obviously different computers do different shit but look for something like that, maybe Windows XP doesn't support AHCI or something (i don't remember i haven't actually tried to do shit with WinXP in a long time)

I don't see a drive section under my bios, also what would I be looking for on the hard drive? Physical or digital problems? It just came out of the box, so there hasn't been much done to it. All the hard drive tests say the hard drive is fine. And I don't know of anything exotic on here either.
hey guys, first time posting here, and im hoping someone could help me out on this one.
anyways, iv had my computer for a good 3-4 years, and iv been noticing it getting slower and slower with the games i played, along with huge spikes in cpu usage for no discernible reason. iv been battling with the damn thing for 2 years now trying to correct whatever the hell is wrong with it (thing with my computer is, once you fix one problem, 2 more pop up). problems like lag spikes in game, crazy low fps, and other shit plagued me for a good long while (still does)
anyways, iv been looking for a reason for the my cpu's usage spiking like mad to a 100%, and iv just recently discovered through Speedfan that the core temperature of my processor is 98C
lemme repeat that: 98C.
at stock speed.
when im NOT playing a game.
my processor is running at grill temperatures, and i never knew it till now.
now, this revelation brings both joy, and apprehension.
joy, that i might have actually found the problem to the shit iv put up with for so long, and i can actually fix the right thing and maybe get some positive results.
apprehension, that it might not actually solve anything if i remove the fan, clean up down there and maybe stick an aftermarket fan with new therm paste.
do you guys think that might solve any of my problems, and that the temperature of my fine is whats been giving me grief for so damn long? if so, any suggestions as to the route i should take to correct the problem? i assume slapping a fan on and all that jazz will help, and cleaning out my computer will do some good.
computer specs
I5 750 cpu @ 2.67 Ghz
msi p55 gd65 motherboard
12 GB of ram
XFX hd 6870 graphics card
as you can see, its a pretty high end-ish rig, so im hoping the problem lies in the cpu fan, or anything else that'll let me correct it without shelling out big money
Yeah, just clean the heatsink off, reapply thermal compound and put it back on.
There is no Driver section under my BIOS, so I can't switch any compatibility.
Is it possible i'm dealing with a cpu bottleneck here? I just upgraded from a 4670 to a 7770 and while the fps increase is pretty large, It's not quite as large as i expected.

Definitely.

Ouch. Guess i gotta scrape together the $250 or so for i3/mobo/ram then

Hey, I need a little advice on picking a new PC case.
Budget: Around £100
I currently have a Xigmatek Asgard case, which is 475 x 185 x 408 and only has 1 120mm cooling fan.
What I am looking for:
- [Main point] Bigger case. (In my current case all my hardware is pretty much touching each other, which doesn't help cooling)
- [Main point] Good cooling system, even if it is just more fans. (Quiet fans if possible :) )
- Not a water cooling system.
- I'd also want it to be good quality, like my current one is made out of steel.
- At least 2 USB ports on the front.
- Can fit a Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-D3H mobo in.
- Can fit a 400W Xigmatek PSU in. I have no experience with PSUs, if I can't fit this is the new case you suggest, could you please add some info on what PSU is should buy.
Sorry if this is thought to be more than a "Quick Question", I didn't feel it necessary to make a whole new thread.
Got a particular budget?

EDIT: Not including a PSU
I should have noticed this thread before posting my own...
Can I install Belle Feature Pack 2 on my Nokia C7?(this question is releated to those who know, what these words mean)
I need some good quiet casefans, max ~£15.
Preferrably a nice cooling:noise ratio but I can sacrifice some cooling for noise.
Hey guys I tried Googling this issue but: I installed Thunderbird and put my 2 email accounts in it but whenever I start Thunderbird back up my accounts are gone and I have to set them up again. I re-installed and that didn't work. Anyone have any help?
Any 9 cell batteries for the x131e?

Choosing a computer case is largely based on preference.
Just go to any online retailer and browse ATX full towers and sort it based on your budget and material you want. I haven't seen any cases without front panel USB ports so that can be checked off automatically probably. The general rule of thumb is that the bigger the case fan, the quieter it is.

EDIT: Nevermind, got it.
what's the best AMD CPU for gaming that's around $100-$200? I have an Athlon X4 in my desktop PC at home (because when I built it I didn't know shit about cpus and thought that quad core meant it would be fast), along with 4gbs RAM and a GTX 460. The 460 gets great performance in most of the GPU-heavy games, but on CPU-heavy games like Skyrim and GTA IV my desktop kinda lags behind. I would much rather not buy a new Motherboard to get an Intel, so basically I'm looking for something that will do fine in most games and not bottleneck the rest of my system if I upgrade RAM and GPUs later.
What type of case should I look for if I wanted to make sure my Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-D3H would fit in (E.g. correct screw holds) ?
Any ATX case that fits full-ATX form factor mobos, so hence browsing for 'ATX full towers'. You can also look at ATX mid towers, but those are probably around the size of your current case. I assume you want a bigger case.

So my Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-D3H (ATX) would fit in this case?

If so, I'm guessing my 400W Xigmatek PSU won't fit in that case, so what type of PSUs should I be looking for?
PSU should fit too.
What exact model is it?
