Well I need a new keyboard because I fucked up a few of my laptop keys (W and A have weird feedback and my keyboard is just generally filthy)
I want something that's decent quality and low profile/reasonably silent. I think the Razer Deathstalker Ultimate keyboard has chiclet keys or whatever but that's hella expensive.
Here's a nice semi modular for $105 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151106
Someone might be able to find something else for a better price but I can't find anything.
I've almost always used laptops so I'm way too used to how you can just tap your fingers and glide across the keyboard. I also don't want to make TAP TAP TAP noises all the time.
I don't know why anyone would opt for chiclet keys, ever.
Sure, they might feel better to you, but they're incredibly nondurable.
Well I'm fine with any type of keyboard as long as it's similar in feel. Not too much effort to tap the keys and low profile. I don't really need macros and shit.
I like the keyboard that came with my mom's Acer computer, but you can't really buy it separately. You can look for it on eBay though, Acer KB36211.
People just don't make chiclet style keyboards because of how crap they generally are.
This one looks the closest to what you're looking for that I know of.

I guess I'll look into it, thanks for the help. I looked up the keyboard you linked and it seems like it was built for general use, not gaming.
I guess I need to do more research. Maybe I'll make a thread later on.

You won't find a good chiclet keyboard made for gaming.
Is there anything wrong with the Razer Deathstalker? It uses Chiclets.
It's a gimmick.
It's overpriced.
It's a chiclet keyboard.

Razer is well known for it's shitty tackyness.
£70 would bring me to a decent Microsoft keyboard and a mouse.
So I've used Linux for a few years now, and know about most of the major distros like Arch, Ubuntu, Gentoo, etc. However one thing that still confuses me is the real difference between distros like Ubuntu and ones derived from it like Mint. From what I can tell all Mint really is is Ubuntu with a pretty DE over top. Is there really no difference between Mint and installing Cinnamon/MATE on Ubuntu?
And which one would you recommend for novice Linux users?
I doubt there are any major kernel differences between Mint and Ubuntu, mostly the software that comes installed and the DE.
I like to suggest Mint for beginners, it's easier to get used to and a nicer introduction than Gnome 3 in my opinion.

I have been struggling with my new router for sometime. Our old router died a while ago and now we have an Asus RT-N56U replacing it.
The problem is that it simply doesn't give even nearly the same download and upload speeds than the old one. If I remember correctly the old one was D-link 524 and it gave almost 95 Mb/s download speed, compared to the RT-N56U which gives only 2 to 6 Mb/s.
I have turned off the wireless part of it, QoS, and updated the firmware. Now I just don't know what to do.

Uuh. It's a VAIO, it's right across the screen.
And, I don't have access to it.

It looks very similar to this, but the keyboard style looks older (bevelled keys)
Uuh. It's a VAIO, it's right across the screen.
Hint: that Toshiba Satellite part was a joke.
So uh...
Are there any cheap SUMIT boards? The only ones I can find are from VersaLogic, but at $800, they're a bit expensive.
Chiclet is something else entirely, you want a scissor-switch keyboard. Chiclet keys can have scissor switches, but chiclet keyboards that are straight rubber dome feel completely awful in my experience. It's like the worst mushiness ever.

The keyboard I have has Scissor Switches:

But I don't think there's many if any gaming keyboards which have this.

I'm having second thoughts about getting this, have been wanting to get it for a few weeks now. I do plenty of gaming and 16gb of memory sounds like heaven, but is the price good for what I'm getting? 1300 dollars is a shitload of money, I don't want to spend that amount and not be totally satisfied with what I get
why is it that when i a take screenshot or video with fraps, my screenshot/footage turns out much darker than it was when playing?
why is it that when i a take screenshot or video with fraps, my screenshot/footage turns out much darker than it was when playing?
Maybe your game's gamma settings are up really high? I don't think FRAPS will take a screenshot at the game's gamma level, so...
but why is it showing up perfectly fine when i'm playing but in the screenshot it'll be super dark?
I don't think FRAPS will take a screenshot at the game's gamma level
by this I mean FRAPS doesn't see it "perfectly fine" like you do, it sees it "super dark". Whatever is making it bright enough for you to see isn't doing it at a level that can affect FRAPS.
you're probably stuck just amping up the brightness in Photoshop or something
